I have some textfield with text like "Click @button1, then @button2". Have you got any idea how to replace keywords by images ? I must do it in AS2 :/ I know there is htmlText in textField, but useing it I can only use one image, and image can only align left or right site.
View 1 RepliesI'm using the following to remove a textFeild from the stage I then need to add this textField back to the stage at a later time....i tried using addChild the problem is the text that was in the text field prior to the removal is still in the textfield when i re add it......How do i remove the textfield and replace it with a fresh textfield at a later time?....using msgTa.text =""; is not an option.
View 4 RepliesWhat I'm working on is the following: Make a 3D image carousel that loads images from a certain XML file. When I click one of the images I want it to remove the rotating objects, and load new/different images from a new XML which is specified depending on what image you clicked.
I'm not sure if I have to make a new frame for this, or if it's able to load in the same frame etc. (I'm kind of having a bad headache and feeling really sick aside the lack of sleep) Current health status makes me kind of unsure of a lot of things, so I'll give you the full code, the problem is way at the bottom, but I kept in the rest in case I have to refer to other functions again later.

I have a flash file made up of 2 components really.....an image slider at the top and when i click on the images it loads a new set of images into a container below.
What i want to do is go further and when i click on one of the bottom images i want to replace all the bottom images with new ones in the same container
I'm having some real trouble getting .replace to actually replace something. Here's my code...

I can trace both newFiles[i] and keywords[i][whatever], but the replace doesn't replace anything. The regex is valid as well. I'm using regexr to test it, and it works perfectly there... but will not for me and I don't know why.
is there some specific functionality difference between essentially the same mouse events end result.For example I notice some use "MOUSE_DOWN", others "onRelease", some use "buttonDown" and still others just "CLICK". All seem to work identically, but there has to be a reason why there are so many.

I have 23 keywords in an XML file. In an area of 1600px by 500px there should be zooming in and out (for about 5,6,7 sec which depends on the number of letters) 10 keywords, randomly chosen from the XML file. Each keyword may appear in different spots in the area, it doesn't matter.

I'm trying to build a portfolio gallery.I have it set up so that the user gets all my portfolio items to start with and then at the top right there is a comboBox that allows the user to select "programs", "code" and "clients" this changes the left vertical tileList to only show icons of the programs or of codes etc.I'm trying to get it so the user clicks on one of the program icons or whatnot and it then limits the thumbnails in the tileList on the bottom of my widget.The thumbnails come from a xml document that has the images and then <keywords>.Inside this node is a list of the programs and codes used.I tried using indexOf and then a if statement to check if indexOf was -1.But that didn't work.[code]

I've found a way to do this (kind of bootleg) however I'm wondering a way of better executing this.Scenario:I'm loading an external XML file, with numerous items. Each item has it's own 'description' tag. What I'm trying to figure out is how can I more properly execute this:- Find multiple keywords in all loaded items, if I find any of the selected keywords how can I fire off a separate function to my project (Example: If I find the word "hamburger" in one of the lets say, 54 loaded entries, how can I tell my flash project "if you find "hamburger", hamburgers = 1). Same thing goes if I find "hamburger" within 4 xml items, and "hotdogs" in 12 of the entries making flash know hamburgers = 4 and hotdogs = 12.
My predicament really is on ruling out numerous incorrect amounts. Example, If one xml item has hamburger three times, and another xml item has hamburger only once, getting only one valid "hamburger hit" (that was cleaver terminology, wasn't it? ) instead of three hits for that one xml item.So, I'm trying to let flash know, if you notice "hamburger" once, and only once in an xml item, stop counting the hamburgers, and the item's hamburger value is only 1. If the item has no keywords (example, hamburgers, hotdogs, watermelons, soda, blah blah, (lets say a total of 30 keywords) ) do nothing and do not count the item and move to the next for keyword function searching.
Is the forum-specific search broken? I get 0 hits on the keywords scrollbar and scrollpane, but what's more curious is I get 0 hits on the word movieClip.

But sometimes, it doesn't. why, and how I can prevent this from happening? I REALLY hate it when the IDE does something I don't tell it to.

However, I would like these images to be buttons and set a TextField.alpha at 1 when hovering the image. The problem I'm having here, is whenever I hover an image, all the set textfields will show up. How do I change this? I've been trying to put it into an Array with no result.

But when i try to use an image as a link using <a href="http://site.com"><img src="img.jpg"></a> nothing happens when i click the image. Links work fine unless the image is wrapped in the "a href"-tag. Anyone know how to solve this?
View 6 RepliesI have images being dynamically loaded into a html textfield and they look very pixelated. I am able to getImageReference via an id attribute in the <img> tag, but I can't apply smoothing to this DisplayObject because I can't access it's content which is the bitmap. I know the image is loading and I know the reference is working because I can call the id name, I can scale, rotate change the alpha and apply filters. I have tried setting the stage quality to best, but that doesn't make a difference. If I do an addChild(loadedObject) as a test, the image is loaded (not in the text field) and looks beautiful no pixelation at all.

I've tried running the example given on the Adobe site, so I know the value I'm trying to replace ("%20") isn't at fault - it's something about the string I have! how can i make a movieclip and a textfield to resize to the content of the text in the textfield? I mean, if I have a textfield with 3 letters font name XXX and then the content of the field change, how can i resize te textfield so the text dont autoadjust to the 3 letter space?
