Actionscript :: Flex - Add Search Icon Inside Spark TextInput?
May 11, 2011I want to add search icon inside the spark TextInput control. Is there a way by which I can extend the TextInput control and add a child to it.
View 1 RepliesI want to add search icon inside the spark TextInput control. Is there a way by which I can extend the TextInput control and add a child to it.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to extend the text input that comes in flex to support an icon, just like mac os x search text input has a grey circle aligned to the right, the text input has a addChild method, but it didn't work for me.
View 2 RepliesRegarding the dateField, there is the TextInput and the Icon. I want the icon to appear on the left side of the TextInput instead of it appearing on the right side as it is in the default state.
View 3 RepliesI am trying to add different icon on different buttons. I have my skin file ready but not sure if I have to create different skin class for different button. It sounds inefficient.
<s:Button id="pass"
width="110"
height="35"
[Code]....
How to align the Spark Buttons Icon to the left? / like the icons to be all 3 pixels from the left // I have checked the sking class of the Spark buttons, but they doesnt expose the Icon property for further extending the skin/
View 1 RepliesI might be taking crazy pills but has anyone actually gotten the errorSkin feature to work? I am not doing anything crazy, just extending TextInput (spark) and setting the errorSkin property.I have tried creating a skin using SparkSkin, did nothing.I have tried creating a skin using ProgrammaticSkin, did nothing.TextInput is always a red border. I know you can set errorColor and errorString but I am obviously looking to do more than just change the color of the border. I am compiling using Flex 4.1.
Implimentation:
<components:PromptedTextInput id="txt"
width="200"
[code].....
I have a TextInput control which has a search functionality for the people in the system.It works fine. All I need is to style it in such a way that, it will be having search image on the right, which when clicked, will search. Its actually for look and feel part of the application, which will make the search box look much better.
It is exactly similar behavior implemented in search box embedded in Firefox.
working with Flex4 AIR app, using this component I get data from the barcode reader,
<s:TextInput id="barcode" enter="showBarcode()"/>
Then for handle the enter event, wich is automatically triggered when reader finishes its reading
private function showBarcode():void{
Alert.show(barcode.text);
}
Ok, very simple. But my problem is: the text showed in the Alert Box is incomplete, it misses one or two digits (last) or it just shows the entire text in the TextInput component (correct view)
I already test my BC reader using the notepad, and it's fine.
I have tested same code using MX components in Flex3 web app, and there's no problem.
As textWidth property is no more accessible in spark textinput how we can get that property ?
View 1 RepliesI have a mobile application that has a Text Input used for searching. Below the search TextInput is a StageWebView. When I set the source of the StageWebView using loadURL() the key input is shifted to the StageWebView. How can I prevent this?
View 2 RepliesI've got a custom component (quite complex so I can't post any code here, although that shouldn't matter), that I can add to a view. When the component is deleted from the view or the view is switched I call my own dispose method which removes remaining eventListeners and kills some references so that the component can eventually be nulled and collected by the GC.
All that works perfectly fine until I add a Spark TextInput to the MXML part of the component (it took me hours to find out what is preventing the component to be collected!), so I recon that the TextInput somehow automatically adds some eventListeners.
My question is what are these listeners, or is there anything else I haven't thought of?
This is what i have:
Main.mxml:
<fx:Style source="Main.css"/>
<s:TextInput x="72" y="95" focusColor="#CECB02" prompt="E-mail: "
skinClass="components.TextInputSkin"/>
[code]....
So, the "promptDisplay" in a computer(online) that does not have "Acens.ttf" installed shows the predefined one, but the inputed text is showed correctly with the embeded font!
how to reposition an icon inside a button on any x,y cordinates . i know how to use labelplacement etc but still i dont get the full control over them. i m just wondering if there is a way to directly access and control the x,y position of an icon in a flex button
View 1 RepliesRemove specific characters inside Spark TextInput while user typing on it, without this causing any distrbance like licking with mouse after the last character or alike.

View 1 Replieshave a Spark TextInput control but I haven't figured out a way to make is auto-resize...Does anyone have any code to get started?
View 1 RepliesI'm writing a s:ItemRenderer to render some simple graphical components in my app. Each element can have multiple shapes that can be selected by the user, i.e. a certain element can be a square, or a circle, or a star, or whatever else.The simplest way I could think for doing this was to include all possible shapes in a s:Group and then manage their visible tag depending on what shape the user has selected. Is there a better way to do that? Also, if I encapsulate the group in a separate MXML component, how do I propagate the state of the itemRenderer (say "hovered") down to the MXML component that manages the shapes?Let's say you want to display three types of objects alternatively - the IR below with an AS snippet that turns visible to false for 2 out of the 3 objects definitely does the trick, but seems so ugly to me. In the mean time I found setCurrentState (stateName: String, playTransition:Boolean=true) to propagate the state down, so that's solved.[code]
View 1 RepliesIn the AdvancedDataGrid component, when you are in Edit mode in a cell, you can hit the Escape key to cancel editing (i.e. return to the previous value in the cell).I had expected the same behaviour while in Edit mode in both the Halo and Spark TextInput and TextArea components, and was surprised to find out that this is not the case.I looked at the attributes of all four components to see if this is something that I need to configure, but couldn't find anything.
View 1 RepliesI have a main application that contains a list, using a custom itemRenderer to display data.
I would like to be able to call a function, inside the itemRenderer, from the main application.
When running the app, we have a list with three persons, and a button. I want to call the function myItemRendererFunction() inside the itemRenderer, of the selected item in the list, all this, from the main app.
[Code]...
I have a renderer that looks like this:
[Code]...
Loading thumbnails using this method works perfectly. The issue happens when you scroll the List.
I'm looking to add a couple of buttons to the title bar of a Spark Panel or Spark TitleWindow. Is this possible to do without making the panel from scratch?
View 1 RepliesI'm creating a panel with a form inside it to force a user to log into my application.
It's pretty simple to login, but I'm having trouble getting at the info inside the username and password boxes.[code]...
I'd like to highlight / select text inside a textInput when the user sets the focus on it. My code (that doesn't work):
[Code]..
When I add a TextInput to the stage I can access it with instanceName.text. this works. Now I have one Movieclip with one TextInput inside (the textinput's instance name is testetxt). This MovieClip has a corresponding class and its code is the following:
class com.sck.testeT extends MovieClip
{
public var testetxt:MovieClip;
[Code]....
The textinput gets transparent but the text isn't changed... I realized it was because the textinput wasn't initialized yet. so I have to wait a while, but how can I know that it was initialized and I can set the initial text by code?
I am currently trying to disable the selectable / editable / or change the textInput to dynamic to get my desired result.I've got a custom datagrid with dropdowns and text input areas. However, if there is no data in my Model # column, I do not want to allow for any entry in the corresponding PurchasePrice cell.
col1 = new DataGridColumn("Model");
col1.headerText = "Model #";
c2.consumables_dg.addColumn(col1);
[code].....
I adopted the tsunami effect that i've got from this link [URL] but the problem is how can i plug the title on each icon, showing up on an icon when i point on it (on rollOver)
View 5 RepliesIs it possible to create a search button inside of a "button" symbol? aaaaaaand have it only appear on the "over" state of the button?
What I want to do is have an image and then when the mouse hovers over it, it reveals (over the image) a search field where you can then enter information and search. I don't want the search box to be revealed when the mouse isn't hovering over it. I've tried alpha, everything.
I have a standard array with some text items and some numbers.
Here is an array item
ge: 65, (no quotes around this number)
Here is the DataProvider line (the section that applies to my example)
DataProvider([{label:"over 60", data: 65}]);
Here is the search line
for (var n; int = 0; n<arrayname.length; n++
arrayname[n]. Age == search_age.selectedItem.data
This works fine because the array number MATCHES the selectedItem data number (65) exactly and I get all records where age is 65
BUT I want to find records whose age is any number "greater than 60"
I have tried many ways to use the > sign and keep getting an error, example:
DataProvider([{label:"over 60", data: >60}]);
or
DataProvider([{label:"over 60", data: (>60)}]);
or
DataProvider([{label:"over 60", data: >(60}]);
None of these work.
Maybe these aren't numbers? I've tried putting 'int' in various positions with no results. I'm using a DataGrid which works fine for text items and will find numbers without quotes around them (if those numbers match whats in the array!).
What's the way to write this so I can get records greater than, or less than, etc.?
Is there anyway to create a search engine that runs inside an swf and that will index and search an entirely flash based website?[url]...
