Actionscript :: Programmatically Remove A Mask That Was Defined In Flash Professional?

I realize this is a total newbie question, but it is driving me crazy. In Flash Professional I have a movie clip, say 1000px high and 50px wide. I have it contained within (under) a mask layer where the mask is 100px high and 50px wide. In my program I move the movie clip vertically and as expected it is masked such that I only see 100px vertically.
My question is: how do I remove the mask from my movie clip? When I debug inspect the movie clip in Flash Builder, its .mask property is null. But it is masked..

I am experimenting with e4x. I could programmatically add an attribute to an Xml by doing something like this :

now i have added a name attribute to it programmatically because even though the xml had no attribute called name, after the statement above, it automatically has one now. My difficulty now is how do i , as well, remove the name attribute i have inserted programmatically again?

I'm to make a clickable map divided in regions, where it is possible to see some info when you rollover the precisely defined regions, and when you click on that region > go to a specific website. Is it the best way to make this in Flash or are there other or easier ways?

inside draw_mc there is a movieclip called item_mc, the above mask must not be applied to this inner movieclip item_mc.

I have made a Actions Script 3 code that fetches an image, does an addchild do it and adding a mask to it aswell.
Everything works fine, except the mask I've made is an animated MovieClip, and this MovieClip hides some spots where 2 or more objects inside that MovieClip overlaps each others.I haven't found how to remove this effect, so the mask is valid on overlaping aswell.[code]...

I saw one video on how to use flv file in flash and mask it. It is working fine when I am using the following option while importing a video file to flash:
Load external video with playback component
But when I tried with the following option it doesn't show the background, it shows only movie which is playing nicely. But not the background which has a bill board.Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline.It seems the mask is not working with this option.Actually it should be like the above.But when I am using the option Embed FLV in SWF and play in timeline while importing the flv video, getting the result like below: It is not showing the Bill board as above.See the layers created:

I have created mask layer with single MC cosisting of couple of instaces of another MC. This is a set of growing squares. The problem is that only first instance gives mask effect. Rest of instances are not used to. Does anybody knows what is wrong and how to workaround this (most likely)bug ? I would like to avoid creating one masking MC consisting of e.g. 100 layers - with teened growing sqare on each layer but in different position. Wiser is just to create one MC consisting of many instances of another single MC.Second example describing issue.Mask layer contains shape tween which consist of 3 keyframes.Masked layer contains single keyframe at first frame with one MC. This MCrestarts when middle keyframe in the mask is played. It seems that masked MC (on different layer obviously) is recreated when playhead meets keyframe in mask layer in tweened shape. In the same moment our MC stopped beeing visible for AS3 under given name as well.It seems that if mask layer contains more complex animation then basic shape move/scale then masking stops working properly. Is it bug in Flash palaer or am I doing mistake?

I am creating a very simple mask using motion tweening. I created some text on a layer and made it a masked layer. Then I created a mask layer which consists of a circle that will span across the text. When I play the movie the circle does not show up at all in the frames the mask layer spans (it's purple on a black background) and the circle does not move across the text like I told it to with the motion tweening. I don't know why it's not working. For some reason the circle isn't showing on the stage at all and it's not moving across the text. I don't know if I have it set up wrong on the timeline or what. Here's the steps I followed to create the mask:
1.insert a new layer in which I named it mask and click frame 1 on this layer
2. select the oval tools on the tools panel and set the stroke to none
3. set the fill color to purple
4. draw a circle and click the selection tool and drag a marquee around the circle to select it.
5. click insert on the menu bar, click motion tween then click ok in dialog box about converting it to a symbol to be tweened
6. click the last frame in the mask layer and drag the circle to the end of the line of text
7.click mask on the timeline to select the mask layer, click modify on the menu bar, point to timeline then click layer properties
8. verify the show check box is selected in the name section, click the lock check box to select it, click the mask option button in he type section, then click ok.
9. play the movie in which the circle object covers the text on the masked layer as it moves across the stage.

I am using flex builder 3.2, Action Script 3 and develop for Flash Player 10 and am quite new to it. when I call a method of a self defined class, I get the 1061 error (not defined). But the class and the method exist and are public, so what the hell am I doing wrong? Flash Builder is even offering me this method in the auto-completion, so at least the builder knows it... I have already tried cleaning the project (as this is the common source of strange errors when working with java/eclipse),
edit: solved... The problem was that a package had the same name as the variable I used for the class. Very strange error message, thumbs down for this .

Has there been an update this weekend thats broke masking I have tried to gradient mask an object both by using a vector mask and a png mask. NONE OF THEM WORK! Last week it woeked - and nooene else here at my job can get it to work either.Gradient masks are just shows by a square. No way of of getting smooth edges (gradients on a masked object anymore).

I've read through umpteen Flash threads of frustrated users who export SWF and anything visible outside the stage appears in the SWF when opened in a browser.None of the solutions have worked for me.My file is called statement_onlineheader.fla.URL...I have my mask layer above a folder containing all other layers.I have also tried moving the mask layer above individual layers.Stuff outside the stage appears in the exported SWF.

I'm new to Flash and PHP. I'm using the FlashBuilder with PHP product. I have a data grid that is connected to a PHP script that retrieves and updates data via the 'Enable Data Management' function. If I modify data on the grid by using the screen and call .commit(), everything works OK.
However I would like to programmatically change some of the values in the data that underly the grid and have those changes get back to the update function in the PHP script when commit(). is called. But I can't figure out how to change the underlying data.
Here's the code I've tried: (the object that I pass back and forth to the PHP script is call MailPiece. I want to set the WORKORDERNUMBER field on each row of the data)

what i am doing is to make something along the lines of the "scriptable mask" tutorial Inigo was kind enough to put up.My idea is to have a large mask behind the whole of my flash site, this masks a colour image with a black & white one (nothing tricky). The image I am using is actually 5 separate images combined, and each is a pic of certain parts of the site.I also have a very basic set of buttons along the bottom... each corresponding to each section.
All I want is to set it up so that when I mouse over the buttons, the _x of the mask moves to correspond with the correct image... really very basic... or so I thought .If anything it should be easier to do than what is in Inigo's tut (where he uses the _x of the mouse to move the mask)... i just cant seem to get it to work with a nice easing effect (its easy to get the mask to simply snap to each coordinate, but I need it to smoothly move).

We have video cameras from Point Grey Research that are typically used for instrumentation and measuring.To oversimplify, the Flycapture software library they provide essentially captures single frames as 2-dimensional arrays of 16-bit greyscale values. We want to measure and process this information in real time. We also want to take this video, write some simple overlays on it (rectangular outlines, histograms, etc.) and make it available for viewing on a local area network using an ordinary web browser.
That is, we need to programmatically generate a live FLV stream on the fly--where the source of the video is not actually a device, but our program. The resolution and bandwidth requirements are modest; 320x240 30 fps 8 bit-grey = less than three megabytes per second. Some very simple, fast, easy compression would do, and in fact compression is not really needed at all.
I'm puzzled as how to where to start. I've browsed dozens of free and commercial packages, and they all seem to assume that the video source is a device.
The FLV and RTMP specs are intimidating. I can't easily identify any trivial subset (e.g. no compression) that would be easy to implement myself, nor have I found free or inexpensive commercial libraries that would do it for me.

I have a flash label on a movie clip with its instance name called 'txtToomName'.This object has existed, been successfully instantiated and used for over a year without any modifications.All of a sudden, during the getClassByName() call, I start getting an errors.The actual error is:
ReferenceError: Error #1065: Variable txtToonName is not defined.
at mcToonInformation_Design/__setTab_txtToonName_mcToonInformation_Desig n_Layer1_0()
There are other objects on the movieclip, defined as buttons, that were derived from an object in the library that didn't have its linkage set.This had worked fine up til now where I could define a common object without linkage, create copies of that object on a movie clip and assign an instance name to allow access.
Once I changed my buttons to be an instance of an object in the library with linkage properties assigned they didn't give me an error.The problem now is that it doesn't seem to like the Label object which is by default an instance of an object in the library that does have linkage properties set and yet still doesn't like it. I am using CS5 ver.11.0.2.489 In an attempt to get beyond the previously mentioned error, realizing that it references 'tab', I made the label inaccessible and now receive the following error:

There is a white space above the flash file. My file is 360 pix high, but I need the default bar at the bottom. So I set it to be 400. But the extra 40 pix got shared by the bar and an unwanted white space on the top.
If I set it to 360, no space, but no bar either. In either case, there is an extra 2 pix double lines on top. I want to remove the space and double lines.

1- is there a way to make use of any universal URL in flash ? i mean. not needing to have the full path of the target in the button since the target is in the same folder than the page where is the flash ?
2- now, thats a funny one, i can make mask to make thing appear in an animation fashion style, no probleme as with any Adobe program... however unlike all other Adobe programs, it seem i am unable to find HOW make the exact reversed result... I want to make thing disappear without using the alpha channel, because i want to make it in an animation style way. It is to use for a sub-menu, where when you click the button to open the sub-menu, you see it appear nicely and in an animated way. But when you click again the button to close it, or once you picked your choice, it close the sub-menu in the exact reverse way it was open...

There is a thin border at the top and left margins of my Flash movie when the .html is viewed in a browser. How can it be removed?Here's the movie.One solution suggests replacing some code, but the code they suggest replacing doesn't even exist in my html file.I have found questions similar to mine being asked all over different forums, but their solutions either don't work, or like the above, don't really apply. For such a common problem, finding the solution is getting a little frustrating.
