This is my first time working with a class attached to a movieclip that is nested inside a class attached to a movie clip.I've tested all the properties and methods of PTListItem.as and they work properly but when I try to call them on the list item through PTListTop.as it returns undefined.The end goal is to dynamically load a checklist via a txt file.
I'd like to set the base class of a library asset at runtime,rather than specifying it before. Is this possible? I'd like it to just extend movieClip, but at runtime change that to extend a custom class.
I am having a strange issue where I have created a MovieClip in the IDE and given it a class name ( MyObject ) and exported for actionscript...this object is created in an external class. This object has a few MovieClip symbols inside, ( MyButton ) and ( MyOtherButton ). After creating a mouse-over event for MyObject and catching the target ( either MyButton or MyOtherButton ), in the listener function, I trace the event.target in hopes that it will output "Object MyButton" or "Object MyOtherButton" but instead, I get "Object MyButton_6" and "Object MyOtherButton_2"...
Is there a way to have multi-tiered custom context menus using AS3? i.e. I would like for a user to be able to click or hover a menu item which would bounce out another menu of options associated with it.
I am new to AS3, as well as Flash in general, so forgive me if this seems highly elementary. All I am trying to do is create a custom class that extends the MovieClip class and contains a custom property of "marker". I want to be able to use and change the value of this custom property on the timeline for an instance of this class and have it behave just like any other (Ex: this.x ==> this.marker).
I have a document class called Main.as In the class constructor I have the following listener:
enter code here var listeningFORModeChangeToStudent:Sprite = new Sprite; listeningFORModeChangeToStudent.addEventListener(TellAllModeChangeToStudent.STUDENT,exp); addChild(listeningFORModeChangeToStudent);
[code]....
In a third class I make a call to the despatcher in the previous class:
enter code here var ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent:TellAllModeChangeToStudent = new TellAllModeChangeToStudent; ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent.tellAllModeChangeToStudent();
I have trace statements in eveything and from this I know the despatcher in TellAllModeChangeToStudent is being called.The problem is that the listener in the main.as is not calling the function exp.I cant see why and I dont know how to check if the listener is actually seeing the dispatch event?
I have a custom class being constructed from my main class. In the custom class it has another custom class that is passed in as a parameter. I would like to strictly type the parameter variable but when I do, 'the type is not a compile type constant etc'.This, I understand, is because the custom class used as a parameter has not yet been constructed.It all works when I use the variable type ( * ) to type the parameter.I suspect this is a design flaw, in that I am using an incorrect design pattern.It is actually hand-me-down code, having received a large project from someone else who is not entirely familiar with oop concepts and design patterns.
I have considered using a dummy constructor for the parametered class in my main class but the passed in class also takes a custom class (itself with a parametered constructor). I am considering using ... (rest) so that the custom classes' parameters are optional.Is there any other way to control the order of construction of classes? Would the rest variables work?edit)in main.as within the constructor or another function
var parameter1:customclass2; customclass1(parameter1); in customclass1 constructor:
I understand it's probably best practice to name your custom classes differently than the built-in AS3.0 classes; however, what kind of problems could I run into if I don't?Specifically, I have a class which, ideally I want to name DataProvider. But, as you know, there is already a DataProvider class on the Flash platform (used for list-based components and such).Now, I don't think I'll ever use BOTH of those classes, so I'm assuming as long as I reference the correct DataProvider class in my import statements I should be ok?What if I DO need to use both, is that even possible?
I have an externally loaded swf that contains thumbnail movieclips. When a thumbnail is clicked an external image is loaded. I would like to be able to reposition this external image. I know I can use typecasting to control a movieclip of the swf but how do I control nested externally loaded files? I have a different approach that should work fine but I was just curious about my initial attempt.
I have the following situation:I have an event handler, that displays small messages in my application's statusbar.These messages get passes through by dispatching events from custom components.A simple message could be like "HTTP Error" or so.Now, the main event listener, in the main application file, listens to the event dispatched by any custom component,but seems to refuse listening to events dispatched by custom AS classes.Here is my code for the custom event:
package components { public class templateSelection extends VBox { static public var tempSelectionBag:Dictionary;
[Code]....
I want to have a custom class tempSelection with a Dictionary as a public accessable property of that class. If I use this code, the compiler tells me:
1046: Typ wurde nicht gefunden oder war keine Kompilierungszeit- onstante:Dictionary
Which translates to:
Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Dictionary
I've written a class that will load multiple SWFs and then call a passed function when complete. My problem is that when all the movies have downloaded the passed function won't fire.
[AS] // LoadChecker // this class is passed am array and calls a function when all of the objects in the array are loaded //
I created two custom class called fooClass.as and HelloClass.as Then I want to import both of these Custom Classes in my WorkSpace.fla file
so I do the following I open up my WorkSpace.fla file Press F9 to open up the actionScript panel in FrameOne LayerOne and I type in
import fooClass import HelloClass
then I want to start using these two classes so I do the following
var work:fooClass = new fooClass(); var space:HelloClass = new HelloClass();
Technically speaking when I type in var work: I should see list of classes inside the library including my custom Class fooClass and HelloClass However after the colon I see other build in classes but not fooClass.
It works in CS5 but not CS4. How do I get to work it in CS4 so that I can use the custom class I created to show up in the library.
I'm creating a media player (mostly video but with some graphical interfaces) that has a full-screen mode. However, before going fullscreen it's relatively small (about 620x340) and going fullscreen would typically be about double the resolution. What is the best way to prepare the videos and assets in the file so they look good at fullscreen and at the smaller size? I want to also keep the file size to a minimum (within reason).
I'm building an Adobe AIR application (2d platformer adventure game), utilizing the Flash Builder 4 IDE, which will be packaged on a CD for installation. I've embed the majority of the game assets into a static class to keep it simple and organized. This way I can reuse assets and swap them without much digging.
Example: [Embed(source = "../data/gfx/spritesheets/boyHero.png")] public static var boyHero:Class;
In the early days of the projects, everything went to plan. However as the project has grown to be over 28MB, I've started to run into Out Of Memory errors. These occur when I add new assets, refactor for a while, or add new classes. Once I get this error, I can restart FB and then work for another 15-20 minutes. I've modified my .ini file bump up Flash Builder 4's memory allocation. It's currently set at: -Xms512m -Xmx1024m
While I'm at it, here are the specs/plug-ins that I've got installed: Flash Builder v 4.0 (build 272416) JNA Library 3.2.7 subclipse plugin 1.6.17 subversion client adapter 1.6.12 subversion JavaHL Native Lib 1.6.15 SVNKit lib 1.3.5.7406

My Questions: 1) Is the issue with the path that I've chosen for the way I'm handling in-game assets? I am streaming in some assets such as tutorial swfs which are loaded via the SWFLoader. I could go this route for all assets... but, should I? Is this the right way to handle a disk game? (The game runs without a hitch when installed on QA machines...) 2) Provided the embedding of static assets isn't an issue, Is this a FB4 bug? Where should I head for more information?
I have some FLA/SWF assets which are hierarchies of bitmaps.They have timelines which page-flip through different bitmaps.I'd like to scale these assets down in pixel-size, including the bitmaps they're composed of.I'm not a Flash Animator, but the artist i'm working with doesn't know of an automated way to achieve this. ie, that it's a long a laborious manual process.Does anyone know of a tool which can simplify the re-scaling of bitmap-based FLAs ?
Im trying to fix some as classes that are importing from mx.core.* and have defined a Class that extended the BitmapAsset class--I dont believe that class exists in the Flash library, so I replaced them all with BitmapData--Can someone explain what mx.core is and what is the Flash equivalent of BitmapAsset?
This problem is probably very simple to solve but it is not clear to me. It may simply be that I am doing something incorrectly. I have studied OOP and AS3 for quite a few hours so I am familiar with the concepts but not the flow. This is a project that I put together in order to reinforce what I have been studying.The goal here is to load an instance of a pre-created movieclip to the stage from the library then execute a positioning function in the FLA's timeframe ActionScript and execute a function from within the AS files's class ActionScript to both a resize the movieclip and output a trace.I have two files:smileface.flasmileface.as
Im trying to get my head round what is needed to catch event "Beep2", using dispatchEvent. The function "DoNext" is not firing, even though Im able to produce a trace result of the dispatchEvent "Beep2 true".
This code uses a CustomEvent Class to Extend the Event Class. Its right on my limit of knowledge so far,
I made a class that runs fine when used in a movie published from flash 8 on a PC WinXP, but when i try to use it in mx2004 Mac OSX, i get the error:
Code: **Error** xxxxx:Archive 02 WIP:test:PicSwitch.as: Line 42: There is no property with the name 'onMotionFinished'. tweenIn.onMotionFinished = function() { **Error** xxxxx:Archive 02 WIP:test:PicSwitch.as: Line 48: There is no property with the name 'onMotionFinished'. tweenOut.onMotionFinished = function() {
In my class on the first line i use:
import mx.transitions.Tween
... so that i can use the Tween class in my class.
EDIT: If I have a class called Items and it has a movieclip instance which is loaded from a url. The startDrag on item fails. If Items contains a movieclip which we initiate from a SWC (not load it) on Drag works fine. Now how to solve the issue where I have a class which has a movieClip loaded from outside.I have the following code:
I cannot bubble the event because I want to send to another class that is not even a movieclip but a simple class. So I transform previous source code here Is it impossible with Flash to get the Instance Creator ? for
I am trying to call a method that has some xml functionality and It keeps coming up null.What I am trying to do is; I have a page that has four dynamic text fields that get their content from an xml file. I would like to create a method that will output the contents to display in the dynamic field. Maybe my approach is WAY off here, but my supervisor wants all xml related tasks contained in a xml.as fileMain.as
I've seen that it's very simple to create a document class (a class associated to the main timeline itself), or an instance of a class which is linked to a single asset (e.g. a movie clip).But what if I need to implement a class (let's call it Main) which uses multiple assets from the Flash library? The only way I know to do this is by instantiating any asset with its linked class, and passing them all to the Main constructor like this:
ActionScript Code: var asset1:Asset1 = new Asset1(...); var asset2:Asset2 = new Asset2(...); var asset3:Asset3 = new Asset3(...);
[code].....
This is kind of a tedious process, especially when the composition hierarchy is long and you have to pass them all as arguments through many nested classes.For instance, I needed to link a preload sprite (the typical circle in gradient color which is constantly rotating until the load is complete) from the library to any thumbnail class of a gallery, which in turn is part of another class, which in turn is part of the main class. So I needed to pass this preload clip as an argument throughout the nested classes.
