Changing The Cursor With Coordinates?

Nov 4, 2009

I am trying to change the cursor with coordinates.

I have attached the cursor to the mouse, which is a Red Circle

what I want to happen is when it gets beyond the half way point on the screen for it to turn blue.

I can do it as a rollover but I need to make it to it with if statements and coordinates.

Below is the code I have used to attache the cursor to the mouse

circle_mc.onEnterFrame = function(){
this._x = _xmouse;
this._y =_ymouse;
Mouse.hide();
};

onClipEvent (load) {
Mouse.hide();
}
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {

[code]....

I just really need for the mouse to return back to normal when it is away from the bottom half of the screen.Placing things inside movieclips doesn't make any difference.

Flex :: Display A Tooltip Only If The Mouse Cursor Is Within Certain Coordinates?

Feb 24, 2011

Within my component, I'm drawing some rectangles as below:

[Code]...

I need to display a custom tooltip for each rectange when the mouse cursor is hovering over it.

How can I do this? I'm using the MouseMove event to track when the cursor moves over these coordinates (that part is working), but when I change the tooltip text it's not refreshing

private function this_MOUSE_MOVE(event:MouseEvent):void

[code]...

EDIT: The problem seems to be with the following line:

ToolTipManager.destroyToolTip(_myToolTip);

If I comment out the preceding line, it will display the new tooltip, but it will keep creating new ones and the old ones never get removed. But if I add that line, it doesn't add any tooltips! Is the code not being executed sequentially, i.e., is the code to remove the tooltip somehow getting executed after the code to add the tooltip?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Variables Not Changing To New Location Coordinates

Nov 4, 2009

I have a simple Actionscript 3 project. The code is on the timeline:
ActionScript Code:
import pti.dmutility.layout.ConfigElement;
//this Class simply extends the fl.controls.Button with variables

Then I put some instances into the stage, and make them Drag&Drop. Here is the Dragging function. I want to remember the item's puck up position when clicked, I use ConfigElement's OldX and OldY properties:
ActionScript Code:
function dragStarterItem(e:MouseEvent):void{
var item = e.target;
item.OldX = item.x;
item.OldY = item.y;
item.startDrag();
item.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, dragStopperItem);
}

When I click on the item, the OldX and OldY gets the actual position of the item, BUT after dropping it somewhere else, and picking up it again, the OldX and OldY is still the same! Holds the initial position, and not changing to it's new location coordinates. Every instance remembers it's initial position only. Why not change every time I click? Why remembering the first click's position only?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing X And Y Coordinates Of A Tweened Object?

May 12, 2010

I have a string of about 5 movieclips that are tweened so that when you click left or right they slide in that direction. When you click on the movieclips themselves I want them to:

on mouse down - move to (y-5)
on mouse-up - move back (y+5)

this all works fine, however after I have clicked on one of the movieclips to make it jump, when I click left or right to slide them all over again they don't slide with the rest of the clips anymore?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Changing Behavior Based On Y, X Coordinates Over A Movie Clip With OnMouseMove

Sep 22, 2009

I was thinking that it will be an easy task but something is not right. Here is what I am trying to do. I want to be able to run a function if the mouse is moved over certain areas of the movie clip on stage. Based on which area of the movie clip the mouse is moved I'd like to be able to trigger different behaviour. Below is the code which I was thinking shoud do it:

Code:
var posY:Number;
var mouseListener:Object = new Object();
mouseListener.onMouseMove = function() {

[Code].....

For some reason, the trace statement is ran always when the mouse moves regardless if it is over the movie clip or not. It also only shows the first trace statement. It is never chaged even if the mouse is in the different areas of the movie clip.

Changing The Cursor Conditionally (on Mouse Over)?

May 15, 2009

I'm making a Myst clone and want the cursor to do different things when it mouses over various objects and regions, for instance:

- Turns into an open hand when over a grabbable item.

- Turns into a right-facing arrow when on the right side of the screen signifying "turn right here".

- Turns into an icon of an inventory object when the object is selected.

How is this done? I found some code that sort of did it, but it was sloppy, the cursor flickered like crazy, and overall it sucked. I want to harness in Flash the same mechanism that makes my cursor turn into the bracket thing when it's over a text field, or a finger when over a link.ALSO I want to be able to make the arrow stay a regular arrow when it's over manipulatable items I want to remain secret.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing The Cursor Type (or Not) Depending On Where The Mouse?

Jan 4, 2009

Ok, so I'm making a Myst-type game as a simple first application, and one of the things I need this to do is not have the arrow change to a finger when over a manipulable object. How do I either tell the program to change a certain cursor to another in a given context, or to keep it at default even in situations where
it would not be so (over a link, etc)?

This is probably a step beyond the questions I've asked so far in complexity but I'm sure you gurus are up to it. :)

ActionScript 2.0 :: Changing Hand Cursor Back To Pointer?

Feb 14, 2008

I've got a couple of MovieClips on my stage that use the onRelease event to run a function, this automatically makes the mouse cursor change to a hand symbol when over the MovieClip. That's all good, but I sometimes want to 'disable' my mouse, and when it's in this state I want to change the cursor back to a pointer. This should be handled in my controller, so having a statement around my onRelease function isn't ideal.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Changing The Cursor Position In An Input Text Field And Removing Leading Numeric Zeros?

Sep 2, 2011

I have an input text field that is named in the properties box as 'numberOfKids'. When the program is executed, and a delete or backspace is pressed the input textfield goes blank and any calculations that use 'numberOfKids' shows NaN.I have trapped the NaN and undefined so that a numeric 0 shows up instead of a blank.

First problem: The cursor is to the left of the zero, so the first number inputted by the user is 10x larger than what they want.  0 becomes 10. How do I get the cursor to move to the right of the 0?

Second Problem: When I manually move the cursor to the right of the 0 and input a number, say 4, it shows up as 04. How do I delete the leading numeric zero in the input textfield?

Here's the code I am using:

calculateChildWeight = function () { if (isNaN(numberOfKids)) {  numberOfKids = 0; } if ((numberOfKids) == undefined) {  numberOfKids = 0; } if (numberOfKids>=0 && numberOfKids<=137) {  numberOfKids = numberOfKids; } else {  numberOfKids = 0; } if (isNaN(adjustedChildWeight)) {  adjustedChildWeight = 0; } if ((adjustedChildWeight)=undefined) {  adjustedChildWeight = 0; } adjustedChildWeight = Number(numberOfKids*(-100)); //numberOfKids.setSelection(numberOfKids.length, numberOfKids.length); //if (numberOfKids.length=2 && numberOfKids<10) {  // remove the first character or leading zero//  numberOfKids = numberOfKids;// }};

Actionscript 3 :: Convert Global Coordinates To Local Coordinates Of A UIComplenent In Flex Project?

Dec 19, 2011

I was trying to convert global coordinates to local coordinates of a UIComplenent in my flex project using below code using below code

var gp:Point = new Point(e.stageX,e.stageY); //global point
var lp:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp); //local point

uic is UIComponent in which I have subclass of Sprite for drawing something I have set the sprite's mouseEnabled and mouseChildren to false to not interrupt the mouse event. above code is within uic's mousemove event where I was tracing the gp and lp gp was giving correct value and suprisingly lp was giving negetive values. when I move the move to the top left corner of uic i expect lp to be 0,0 but it is giving the -width of of uic. I broke my head for hours and ended up finding an alternate by using offsets. Infact my original code was much simpler like this which was same issue

var lp:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);

I am not sure what exactly is causing this problem. the workaround had lot of issues and it creating a mess in my rest of the algorithms.Just now I found even more interesting thing (which is actually weird). for some reason I went and create a new lp2

var lp2:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);

now surprisingly it was giving correct values as expected and I went back and changed the code as

var gp:Point = new Point(e.stageX,e.stageY); //global point
var lp:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp); //local point
var lp2:Point = new Point(e.localX,e.localY);
var lp2:Point = uic.globalToLocal(gp);

now it is expected to have all the lp, lp2 and lp3 variables to be same but weiredly lp two is giving wrong value and lp2 and lp3 were giving correct. I am suspecting using the variable lp has something to do. I am not sure about that but above proves it so right now I am using lp2.
