Flash :: Copy A Masked Bitmap Maintaining Masking Transparency In Actionscript?

I need to find a way to copy a masked bitmap. I have a bitmap on stage, and a user drawn sprite that acts as a mask. I need to capture/copy the masked area bitmap, maintaining the transparency created by the masking to eventually encode as a png.
I could find no documentation on how to accomplish this using copyPixels(), or any other directions.

mc1.mask = mc2
mc2 is a movie clip that is 50% alpha. How can I mask mc1 and keep the alpha transparency? That's about it.

For a class project I'm working on "Pissed Off Pigs" (I think you get the idea, the pigs get revenge, don't worry, I'm not going to release it!) and I want to create circles with a fill from a bitmap (circles because the collision math is easier). Here is how they look now.
Of course, the white is the problem. Below is my "pigs" class. I've tried gif's, pngs, 8-bit pngs, etc and it seems to make no difference. The image itself is 20px square and the radius of the circle is 10px (so a 20px diameter). Here is the image I'm using:
And I know I should probably load the image outside the class and just pass the BitmapData when I make a new pig so I don't have to load the image every time I create a new pig but for now it works! (Sorta).
Oh, and I have checked bmpImage.transparent and it returns true (even when I don't specify true in the constructor).

I have bitmapA which is rectangular. I have a crop area I want to copy...
However, the bitmap is at an angle from the crop.
How do I copy a section from a bitmap that isn't a rectangle laid outon the x, y, axis??

I am developing a Paint Application is AS3. What I am trying is to basically mimick the MS Paint. I am using vector graphics to implement tools like pencil,line,curve and bitmap to implement bucket tool,spray and eraser. But I faced a problem. While its possible to draw bitmap over vector its not possible to draw vector over bitmap if every drawing is in the same layer.
So the idea that I have is to make it into two layers
Top layer where the vector drawing is done.
In the bottom layer layer after each vector drawing on MOUSE_UP a bitmap copy of the top layer is made and kept on the bottom layer. Keep the top layer fully transparent so that bottom layer is always visible.
Things like flood-fill(bucket tool), spray and eraser will be directly applied to bottom layer.
After each vector is drawn on MOUSE_UP the top layer will be cleared but everything will be visible because it has been re created in the bottom layer and the top layer is full transparent.
My questions are: Is there any flaw in my logic. How to make a bitmap copy of the movie clip on top. I tried but maybe I am stupid it does not work. The name of the MovieClips are topLayer_mc and bottomLayer_mc. What is need to have is to have a function to create a bitmap copy of topLayer_mc on every MOUSE_UP of pencil,line and add it to bottomLayer_mc. I mean create a bitmap copy of topLayer_mc on every MOUSE_UP of pencil, line and add it to bottomLayer_mc. A function will do.

I want to load an external image (dest) and display it on the stage, and i want to load another image (src) which will not be visible. When i hold the left mouse button on the image that appears on the stage, then a function that start copies the src image to the dest will be invoked. Actually i want to reproduce the scratch effect on an image that hides another underneath. here is my code [ the copypixels function is triggered on mouse_move event for debug purposes ]

Although the two images are loaded into memory and the first one is shown on the stage, when the mouse_move events triggers the corresponding handlers the copy does not work.

I want to apply transparency to a non-transparent logo then add it to an image. So I change the alpha of the logo, then I draw() the logo on the image. But it doesn't work, the transparency isn't applied as expected.
Note: I will later save the resulting bitmapData to a file, so an addChild() won't be enough to solve this.

Does anyone know if in AS3 it is possible when using a png as bitmap and you wouldadd this to a sprite. And when having an MouseEvent Listener to this sprite to ignore the transparency of the picture? I am hoping that this is possible in AS3, because in AS2 it was not possible.

I am trying to paste a bitmap (any bitmap) onto the stage. I just get the box outline on the stage. I have imported several basic bitmaps into the library. I tried dragging and copying and pasting but I always just get the outline. I don't know if it means it can't be pasted or there is a setting to display it. If I copy the same bitmap and paste into word for instance I do see the image.

I have a movie clip with a bunch of importaed bitmaps and simple vector drawings. Does anybody know if there is a way to grab this whole mc, make a bitmap copy of it and place this copy somewhere else on the stage?

I am having problem to recall the copied bitmap data to show on another private function which is difference from the private function which copy the bitmap process. I am new in AS3 so have no idea how do I make the copied bitmap data into a global variable..

A web channel streaming service streams to a certain IP range, it only checks the IP in example.com/cmd.php?id=xxx (channel number) and outputs an rtmpe stream URL, nothing else.How do I trick it to get my local URL instead of the one on their server? I have considered squid proxy, but is there some way to do it with a firefox plugin or greasemonkey script?
Edit:I will try to specify:It's a streaming service from an ISP and cable provider. They stream for free to people on their IP's. On their webtv page, which is called webtv.example.com, there is a flash player. If you are not on an IP from their ISP, you can't stream anything but the test channel.When you try to change channel via. javescript:videoplayer_changechannel(xxx) it makes this HTTP request:

If you are on one of their IP's you will get an RTMP URL, like this:

This is what the flash player requests, and if it get's this response it load the channel requested. There is no HTML on the php page, just the URL. Is it possible to define the scenes and the frames in XML in Flash CS4, so that we can parse it in actionscript 3.0 and define the interactivity. I want to define all the UI elements and the event associated with UI like List control or button in XML format (XUL??) and then use actionscript to build the application logic. I have a TLF editable field in a(n) swf file. Text entered there gets sent to a php page where everything is processed. I had the behavior set for multiline, but just realized that if someone hits return and keeps typing, no break is displayed (not even a space). I've tried using nl2br() in the php when it grabs the POST variable from flash, but that doesn't work. I don't know how flash handles the carriage return, so I don't know how to handle it on the php side either.

I have a flash app which will send/receive a constant stream of data. The flash app should open a connection to the Java server, keep it open, and attempt to reconnect on socket failure. Are there any good APIs that offer this functionality? Smartfox Server is one option, but if I had my way I'd embed an API in my app rather than contort my app to run under Smartfox. Ideally it would offer an API on the flash end, another on the Java end, and efficiently (java nio preferably) handle the network component in between. I would just define handlers on both the client & server.

I'm trying to shape tween a movie clip of a rocket blasting off. I want it to "squash" before liftoff, and then "stretch" as it lifts off. When I tween this on the timeline with the transform tool, I can "squash" the rocket, and the base of the rocket stays on the "ground". This is what I want. However, for reasons I won't go into, I need to do this in AS3, as opposed to on the timeline. When I use a "height" tween, though, the movieclip height changes, but it shrinks/stretches at the bottom (locked at the top). Is it possible to do what I want with the tween class? Do I need to use something besides "height"?

Notice if you adjust your browser size in both direction, it'll resize itself accordingly.
But if you resize in only one direction (squish your browser left) it won't resize at all past its aspect ratio..
Same if you squish your browser upward (with out resizing to the left or right), it'll resize till the aspect ratio is good, but if you continue squishing your browser up, it'll simply stop resizing all togethor and crop it.. AS well as the top portion of the flash file never moves up.
I want to make a full flash page, but allow the aspect ratio to be maintained when people adjust their browsers, so it can be resized if the browser is at a smaller resolution, but if they only move one side of their browser, nothing happens, (try it on the jimcarrey site to see what I mean, if you size your browser in both directions, the site resizes, but if you resize your browser in only one direction, say like up/down, it'll just crop out the bottom once the aspect ratio is met.

I'm using Flash CS4. Everything functions as it should when CS4 previews the swf after compiling it. However, after embedding the flash item in a webpage, if the textArea loses focus within the flash piece, the textarea's built-in UIscrollbar resets to the very top. Here's the kicker: if I add a FOCUS_OUT event listener to the textArea to store the current scrollbar value, I find that the scrollbar value has been reset to minimum even before the FOCUS_OUT event is triggered! WTF? I think this is occurring because the textArea's htmlText propery is dynamically populated. Adobe AIR has advanced methods for handing HTML, but not simple AS3, oh no. How obnoxious. What can be done?
