Flash :: IDE :: Rotating Object Either Mouse Movement Or Dragging By The User

Im in my final year of year 12 and need to have a car rotate in flash by either mouse movement or dragging by the user. Ive tried googling and being lower then noob level on adobe flash I have no idea about anything. I have created a car model in 3ds max. It is of high detail and I wanted to keep it that way. An example of what I wanted to create would be [URL]

Actionscript 3 :: Mouse Over While Dragging Object In Flash CS5?

Nov 23, 2011

I have a project with Flash Professional CS5 and ActionScript 3.

I need to trigger an event when I drag an object over a particular spot, but haven't dropped it yet. Then, I need to trigger a different event when I leave that spot (still dragging). However, this should only occur while I am dragging on object.

The traditional mouse over and mouse leave events aren't working while dragging (only while not dragging).

Actionscript 3 :: Object Pool - Create Ball Objects When The User Holds Down The Mouse Stops When User Lifts Up Mouse?

Dec 24, 2011

I've been reading a lot about the benefits of Object Pooling. Found some "tutorials" online, all above my skill level. Can anyone please show me an extremely simple example of an Object Pool. What my game does is creates Ball objects when the user holds down the mouse, stops when user lifts up mouse. I need to store these Ball objects in an array(or Vector), and hit test them with other objects, removing them from the stage when the hit another object. I'd like to create a pool of say 20 of so, created once, and recycle them.

Object Following Mouse, Rotating Left And Right?

Oct 11, 2010

I am working in AS2 and I have a flash project that is almost complete but I would like 1 thing modified.I have a fish image following my mouse.

(script below)
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
_root.yChange = Math.round(_root._ymouse-this._y);[code]...........

The problem is that I would like the fish image to "turn" and face the direction of the mouse. Currently, as is, the fish follows the mouse fine when the mouse is moving to the right, but when it goes to the left the fish swims backwards rather than turns and swims the correct way following the mouse to the left.How would I modify the script to get the fish to turn and always swim forward when going left and right?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Smoothly Rotating Object Towards Mouse

Oct 13, 2010

I am trying to make an object smoothly rotate towards the mouse.
ActionScript Code:
var rot:Number = 0;
var smoothing:int = 5;
stage.addEventListener("enterFrame", step);
function step(e:Event):void {
// point_direction is a function I have created that finds the angle between 2 points. I know this functions works as it is supposed to
rot = point_direction(obj.x, obj.y, mouseX, mouseY);
obj.rotation += (rot - obj.rotation) / smoothing;
}
This code works, except when I pass the mouse over the center of the object on the left side it seems to spin the long way around. So if I move the mouse down the center of the object on it's left side, it will spin a long way counter-clockwise to reach the mouse instead of the tiny length if it had spun clockwise.

IDE :: Dragging Objects - Rotating And Easing

Aug 22, 2009

I have two drag-related questions. The first one is how to rotate an object by clicking and holding on it, then moving the mouse round in circles. Think of a clock face, and the user clicking and holding on one of the hands, then spinning it around. The centre point would be the part of the hand that's attached to the middle of the clock face, and the other end of the hand would be able to rotate 360 degrees around the face.

The second one (and not related to the first one, a separate query altogether) is how to drag something horizontally along the screen, but have it stuck at a certain speed. So if the user tries to quickly drag the clip from left to right, it will not reach the right instantly, but instead follow the cursor at a slow speed.

After the object (or the stage) has been clicked the mouseWheel event dispatches as expected.

How can I make it dispatch witchout clicking the stage/object? I've attached a simple sample file to show you what I mean. Hover the colored box and use the mouse wheel. Then click anywhere on the stage and hover the box again and use the mouse wheel.

ActionScript :: Flash - Continuously Dragging Objects Within Bounds From Off-Stage Mouse Coordinates?

is it possible for flash to detect off-stage mouse coordinates in order to continuously drag an object within its bounds while the mouse is moving outside of the stage? for example: i have a draggable red square on my stage. the stage is the bounds of the drag. if i drag the red square to the bottom of the stage and continue to drag outside of and around the stage, i'd like the red square to continue moving within it's bounds, following the mouse coordinates. currently, dragging halts as soon as i leave the stage and the red square only begins to move with the mouse coordinates if i reenter the stage bounds.

Flash :: Dragging Object From Html Page Into A Container?

May 12, 2010

I am doing some pre-production on a project that requires drawing on a 3d canvas, which I think flash is the best way to go. But there is a chance down the line that this client might want the site to show up on the ipad, iphone or other mobile devices that don't support flash.

So I was playing with the idea of doing everything in html and javascript except for the actual drawing/3D area. Almost like using flash as the element. I think html5 is too premature to start using this, but might be beneficial down the line. Chances are I will just go the entire flash route, but I thought it would be interesting to try. question is pretty top level. 1) how hard would it be to drag an object from an html page using javascript, and dropping it into the flashplayer. And then manipulating it from there.

Are there any examples out there that have tried to do this?

What I mean is....I noticed that if I drag a movie clip from the library to the stage, give it an instance name ('xx'), I can access it from code using "this.xx". However, if I add the movieClip from code using:

var ch = new MovieClip();
ch.name = 'xx';
addChild(ch);
I cannot access it using this.xx, but I have to access it using this.getChildByName('xx');

ActionScript 3.0 :: User Drawing A Line By Dragging A Point

Aug 19, 2010

I've been unable to find info on this because it's tricky to find the correct keywords. I want to allow the user to draw a line so that the application can measure the distance between two points chosen by the user. I could let the user click on one point and then the other but it would be much better if, after clicking the first point, a line would follow the mouse cursor like in most graphic applications. How would you do that? Is there a convenient method for that? Maybe use the MOUSE_MOVE event after the MOUSE_CLICK and continuously draw a line?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dragging And Dropping User-drawn Lines?

Feb 21, 2012

I'm working on a Flash project in which users are able to draw on the stage. Once they've drawn their lines and turned off the pen tool, though, I want them to be able to do something unusual. I want them to have the ability to drag and drop the lines they've drawn. I actually don't really care whether they pick up individual segments separately or everything together, but they need to be able to drag and drop in some way, shape or form.

The line-drawing code currently looks like this:

ActionScript Code:
onMouseDown = function(){
if (penOn) {
if (erased7 == true) {

[Code]......

When I make line7 draggable (by dynamically appending event handlers to the line after the user creates it), subsequent attempts by the user to draw lines cause the new lines to appear within the confines of the movieclip already created, no matter where the mouse button is pressed. The problem, as I've been able to determine, is essentially this: When you don't make the line draggable, the dimensions of the line movieclip expand every time the user clicks the mouse button. But appending the event handlers in effect freezes the movieclip, and its dimensions aren't changed after that, at least not by this code. I've tried workarounds, but no luck. I've also tried creating a new movieclip each time the user tries to draw another line, but that's failed as well

Flash :: Bullets In List Following Mouse Movement?

Feb 1, 2012

I've been having a problem I've been working on for multiple hours now with no luck. I have movement bound to arrow keys and the user looks around via the mouse. When I shoot I want it to continue off in the direction it initially started, but what happens is if the user moves the mouse the bullets change directions with it.[code]...I think what is causing the problem is that when I push the bullets into the array they're all sharing the effects of the user moving the mouse instead of keeping their initial value.
