I've concluded that I have to use several Loaders. At first I was thinking "oh well I just use sixteen loaders", but do I have to? Maybe I should create only eigth of them? Then I found this tutorial. If I'm correct I just have to create eight Loaders, then addChild to correct img1/img2?

It seens perfct but I can't see it work. The funny thing is that the custom currentBubble - with a dot after you see the code hints but a dot after pb100 - you see no code hints. Well not normal.
This is weird because I cannot see how a browser can have any affect on a SWF file animation. This SWF contains masking of images. The SWF appears perfectly in Safari, and for some strange reason, one of the three masks is not applied when viewing the SWF in IE (as if the image is 'released').

I am also using a cookie to store user information for returning the project to the user's last point of operation.These seem to be conflicting at the moment, as when the cookie file is not large enough for the desired storage amount, Flash requests for more space through the Settings dialog box. However, since the SWFs are loaded at run-time (for a dynamic experience), they appear to be loading on top of Flash's dialog box and are interfering with the dialog box. Not only will the user not be able to click an option behind certain loaded SWF children, but they won't be able to see it through them either.The red box is from a SWF file loaded at run-time.

I'm trying to create some MovieClips with a glow effect when you rollOver and the glow effect dissapearing on rollOut. But when the rollOut is finished my background movieclip to which I apply the filter (a simple 20 x 20 vector circle) all of a sudden appears jagged, when before rollOver/rollOut it appeared smooth as it should. What could be going on here? I'm pretty new to AS3, thus the example isn't working properly yet. For instance:
* when you roll over the item the first time it immediately shows the end phase of the glow in stead of animating. I thought I'ld circumvent this with Tween.rewind() in the constructor, but that didn't do the trick.
* also I'm not sure whether the addEventListener for TweenEvent.MOTION_CHANGE is placed in the correct spot. I tried putting it in the constructor, but that resulted in the event being recieved continuously by _onMotionChange.
But the most important part is the jagged circle after the glow filter has dissapeared. This is what I have so far (abbreviated example):

I am writing a process where users will need to select a file that far exceeds their availble RAM and have that file broken up into small chunks (for upload). I'm able to create a File reference to said file, but when I try to pass it to the fileStream, it appears to try to read the thing into memory before acting on it. Is there a way to get fileStream to just take the reference to the file and then utilize readBytes the way it's documented? it's called when the user selects the File in the browser dialogue.

The menu however doesn't appear over a flash.i put <param value="transparent" name="wmode"/> I added wmode="transparent" to the EMBED tag then the expanded menu appeared but the color of flash image diaappeared also tried z-index in css.

View 3 RepliesAfter changing the Flex SDK to 3.6 (from 4.5.1) so as to target Flash player 9.0.124, the project no longer compiles, producing spurious errors such as XML does not have matching begin and end tags leading me to believe that the compilation process is 'borked'.
This is a pure AS project, and so should have no dependency on the Flex SDK, howver, it seeems to be inextricably linked to the Flex 4.x SDK and Flash Player 10+. I have tried swf-version and -target-player-version in the compiler arguments, but there is still something I am missing to get this to compile for Flash player 9.
I load a bitmap to the stage, it's a GIF and set to lossless compression. I have ensured its coordinates are integers and have not allowed smoothing (smoothing somewhat fixes the issue but reduces quality of the image).The problem is the image appears to shift one pixel to the left and add that pixel on to the right side meaning one side has no border and the other a double border.The original bitmap does not have this issue, and there is no transparency .etc in the image.
View 1 RepliesI cut up parts of a web page background to do some menu animating in Fireworks on the left side, and the right side to have a slideshow on top of a transparent PNG background. Then I bring both together in a Dreamweaver file, within a DIV so it looks seamless. This has worked fine before, and it exports okay, but I noticed that putting the two "parts" back together side by side that the SWF background is somewhat faded compoared to the Fireworks HTML. I've tried changing the Publish Settings and I've tried changing the PNG file property in the library to both "enable smoothing" and "Lossless Compression", but nothing seems to fix it. My next option is to make the PNG the background image of the page when I bring it all in to Dreamweaver, but I'd like to know if this can be fixed for future reference.

View 6 RepliesI have two swf files, each one almost with the same classes, the most important one is a Singleton class, each swf does "singleton.getInstance()". The diference is that one swf is like a container and the other one is like a module. So when the container loads the module from an absolute path like loader.load("file://c:/modules/module.swf") or loader.load("[URL]"), two different singletons (same class) are created
But when the container loads from a relative path like loader.load("module.swf") , just one singleton is created (that is what I want) I am just intrigued with this behavior, could someone explain me this? PD: I believe is something related to loaderContext and applicationDomain but It also appears that isn't working right. -Patricio Foieri , Vertigo Labs

The description for INIT event is "Dispatched by the associated LoaderInfo object when the properties and methods of the loaded SWF file are accessible."I'm loading a lot of JPG images, and 95 percent of the time it works fine; the init listener fires and reports valid loader. content.I absolutely need loader.content available because I need to set the bitmap smoothing property to true.I've tried using Event.COMPLETE and it has the exact same problematic behavior.

A simple loader loads my simple game and runs VERY FAST on even slow pcs BUT when I build this other loader, it goes quite slowly and I don't know where the app is going wrong. I have the following code which simply loads an external swf, puts it in the right place and should all be hunky dory.This works:

to set the dimensions of the loader so the external swf doesn't 'spill over', the result is a blank screen. No matter how high I set those dimensions it just doesn't display anything.
I got this very strange behavior from FlashPlayer debugger 10.1 r82. When I call loader.load method, no ADDED event is dispatched to the loader object. But if I open the file and call loader.loadBytes instead, an ADDED event is dispatched to the loader object. I suspect the ADDED event is dispatched because the content is being set as the child of Loader object, but why in the other case it is not dispatched?
View 4 Repliesthe file loads correctly but the loading screen only flashes up at the end.The only thing being exported in frame 1 is the loader image, and that is extremely small.Is it possible that there's a queue of things being loaded and the loader image is at the bottom of that queue? Since that was one of the last things added to the project
View 1 Repliesi have a main loader swf file called loader.swf and it loads an RSL.swf (runtime shared library for my swf files) and then 10 swf files, each one to a container (fE.: movieclip '01' in loader.swf, then movieclip '02' and so on). the 10 swf files have a lot of references to RSL.swf, and i have to use RSL.the problem is when loader.swf loads the RSL and the other 10 swfs the loader throws errors like this:

then i put in EVERY swf files (loader,RSL and the other 10) the code Security.allowDomain ("*") but throws the same errors...
I'm loading some images with Loaders, cloning the BitmapData to a new Bitmap, and adding the Bitmap as a child of a Sprite. So far, so good. I want the Loaders I'm using to be removed by garbage collection, which they seem to be. The problem, or so it seems, is that when the Loaders are cleaned up, the Bitmaps I'm creating lose their data.
Edit: All this is happening when a class is instanced, and many copies of this class are being used as actors in a game. As the Actors are being created the older ones are losing their BitmapData to garbage cleanup. When all of them are finally loaded, only the last few are visible. I've rewritten my posted code as a class. If I prevent the Loaders from being cleaned up by somehow keeping a reference to them, the Bitmaps don't lose the data, but I don't want these Loaders hanging around.
