i have a flash video called abc.swf that i would like to play when a user first registers to our website. however, if the user does not have flash, i need it to tell them that in an easy way.

I'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

The header is a graphic of a guy's head and a car.
I want to design the same kind of page but my header graphic will have a cartoon head instead of that guy's head and it will animate.
Now If the user does not have flash installed I would like to have a static header image appear, like a .jpeg or a .gif, instead of the .swf header.
I am using sifr 2.0.7 and here's the deal. The sifr is working (I can see it in the DOM) however, the font is wrong.It doesn't pick up my swf font (DIN) unless you have it installed on your computer?The css font style is: HelveticaNeue which is what the sifr seems to render if you don't have DIN installed.I see it on my computer but my friend see DIN.
View 1 RepliesI have installed the Remote Debugger, a couple of times, apparently without any problem. When I use the Remote Debugger in AS3, the message appears in Flash output as "Waiting for Player to connect ..." until the timeout. The debugger does not start, by itself. Neither, I can find the Debugger in any folder; like in "Program Files/Adobe/...... etc." It does not show up in the list of Programs, either.

However I would like to hide the message if the users mouse starts over the flash movie on the page load. Is this possible or does it need an interaction first?

Second, if it is installed, is it possible to display a flash video in an Activity? I'm thinking you'd have to use a WebView widget within your Activity to display the Flash content instead of something like a VideoView. Is Flash even supported within the WebView widget or is it only supported by the actual Browser app?

I have a video tutorial in mp4 format. The video has many chapters. The tasks given to me are:
TASK 1: When the video is played a dialog box should appear in the video screen showing two options 1)I want to continue with this chapter 2)Goto the next chapter When the user presses option 2 the next chapter should be played (the video has to be fast forwarded to the next topic's timeline).I should not do this using Chapters/Contents at the side of the video.
TASK 2: Next, when a chapter is completed, a dialog box should appear with options 1) REPLAY this chapter 2) Goto the next Chapter.

I'm using Red5 newest 0.9.1 final for mac os x to stream the H.264/AAC encoded MP4 file to my flash app.
And there's no problem when I'm resuming the .flv file.

View 3 RepliesIn my CS4 flash document I have created a media gallery. It's a very simple interface that has mouse overs on thumbnail pictures, and then the larger picture will fadeUP in the center of the document. (With use of framelabels in the timeline).
In the same document, I want the user to be able to click on a video thumbnail, and that video plays back in the center of the document. Several questions: If the user clicks on the thumbnail "onrelease," the time line goes to the player, is it possible to stream this video from a youtube clip into my media player on the screen? If not and I have the document in a fl4 format, is there a simple process to have this video open? (I currently do not have the document in fl4 format).
Writing RTMP Streaming Server for streaming AVC+AAC video. And it works fine with rtmpdump. But I can't force it to work in flowplayer and other flash video players.The message sequence after handshake is similar to FMS / RED5 / erlyvideo / haxevideo servers: I've tried a lot of variations.
From Chrome debug console I can see, what all negotiating messages passed to the flowplayer. The last one is onMetaData. And after this the working sample (rtmp://flash.tvwmedia.net/LiveVideo//Live300) gets NetStream.Buffer.Full. And streaming from my server don't get it.
I'm starting with AVC Header message, containing sps/pps. After it first AVC picture passed. After - AAC header and AAC sample. And then AVC/AAC samples. This dumped OK by rtmpdump - I have working flv on exit. But flowplayer and others does not work.

I've found myself totally unable to find our how to do this. I mean, frankly, I don't even know what kind of file to start from the "New..." form at the beginning of Flash (CS 3.0, btw)!
I know how to create a Flash Player and link it to a single video. What I envision is that after the page comes up, with a single player component (initially empty), the user chooses a video from the drop-down list and that video starts playing in the player. What kind of file should I be starting with? {I kinda assume I'll be making an SWF to put on a web page.} Where on earth do I learn how to get the simplest things (e.g., button clicks, etc.) to work?
We want to build an application that allows the user to record a video using their webcam on our site using flash and save the URL in a database using PHP. So that we can allow the user to send the video's to other users etc. Also we want to offer the user the possibility to upload their movies (per mail and with PHP) and convert them to flash movies, can this also be done using Flash media server? It uses streaming over a hosted FMS $50/month account.Some users are complaining that the video doesn't play at all.ith one of these users, we had them go to a speed test website and it was determined that they had a very slow connection which we are assuming is what is causing them to not be able view the video.So before we try to load the video we want to determine their connection speed. Then if they have a good enough connection we will play the video and if not then we will do something else like play a lower quality video or simply display a message and not play a video at all.

When they click start a ball starts rolling and a welcome message should display "Welcome + name". At first the ball is rolling fine and the name is displayed - but after about 3 seconds the frames sort of flip and "Welcome name" turns into just "Welcome" (name dissapears)
