I have a flash movie, that shows a message to a user when it first loads up. When the users mouse enters the stage or moves the mouse the message disappears. However I would like to hide the message if the users mouse starts over the flash movie on the page load. Is this possible or does it need an interaction first?

I've been using CS4 to create flash 10 applications. It works well in other browsers, but IE 6 will not tell the users that they need to update their Flash Player. Instead, it will play the flash as if it's a video (keep looping from frame 1 to end) without allowing any interaction..

I have a colleague who will be using Adobe Flex and adobe flash builder to design the application. The final application will be in that software. I am creating the database features and testing them using online browsers.What I want to know is that some alerts I am getting a 'prevent this message from multiple dialogues' message on the alert but this is because of the browsers. But if the application is on flex and flash builder (I don't know which one is where the app is stored coz I have never used it) then will that message appear on some alerts in that software or is it only on browsers?[code]

I have a numb er of movies that I would like to show in a CD presentation. I have a main movie that pays through and has button which I have linked with load movie AS, each mivie has also been set to fullscreen using fscommand. What happens is that the first movie loads then I click the button and it opens that mew movie but it doesn't open it in fullscreen. If I open each movie individually through the swf that work fine and are fullscreen. What am I doing wrong. I have just use the following AS for the buttons in the main movie:

Im trying to make an interactive map. I have 32 cities in a metro area, and i want to have it bring up a message when you roll over it saying "this is the city click for more information". I also want to have it so when click it itll take you to a url for the web page that has the information.
But i cant figure out the how to make the buttons to work correctly or how to get the message to show up or how to get the url working. I've got the buttons down and i have the code down to click and go to url but it not working and i cant figure out how to get the message to show up only when you have the mouse over it.

The header is a graphic of a guy's head and a car.
I want to design the same kind of page but my header graphic will have a cartoon head instead of that guy's head and it will animate.
Now If the user does not have flash installed I would like to have a static header image appear, like a .jpeg or a .gif, instead of the .swf header.
The goal is to have the user enter their name in the input text box and then click start. When they click start a ball starts rolling and a welcome message should display "Welcome + name". At first the ball is rolling fine and the name is displayed - but after about 3 seconds the frames sort of flip and "Welcome name" turns into just "Welcome" (name dissapears)
I'm sure it's something really dumb but my eyes are crossing.
- layer 1 is my circle image (myCircle)
- layer 2 is my button (startButton)
- layer 3 is the input field (inputName) and the dynamic field (displayName)

I have a message and its visible property is false how can i make it so it becomes true when the user types anything but a number. So there input textfield and a send button if the user types hello when they click send i want the message to become true. How would you do it? restrict?

View 5 RepliesI'm working on a project for a User Interface Design class, so the emphasis is on the UI being as nice to use and non-annoying as possible. I would like to display a message to the user after they've clicked save, for example, without requiring them to click an OK button. I'm thinking of the kind of thing you see in gmail if you send a message or do some other actions, where a message appears on the screen, but the message disappears after you do something else.
I'm sure there's a way to do this in Flex (I'm using 4.6), but I just don't know what it is. I'm pretty new to Flex and I'm having trouble finding anything via Google, because the results keep showing confirmations messages in Alerts; I don't know the search terms to get the results I'm looking for.
Making a photo slide show to load as an external movie clip on my site when a button is pushed . Here is a link to the .swf file:[URL]..Basic problem: There is text that describes each set of 6 pictures. After the set of 6 pictures plays through the text is supposed to disappear and a new text appears to label the next set of 6 pictures. Problem is: the text doesn't disappear!
I made all the text layers a symbol/movie clip. I animated each text to disappear at a certain point in the timeline but when I test the movie the texts just remain there and build up one after the other.
When watching the movieclip, pay attention to the text in the lower left screen.

I have a data grid where users can drag columns and reposition them. But there is a strange requirement that some columns should not be draged to the left of some other column. eg, assume the columns are: name, price , start date, end date, The end date should not be dragged and placed before the start date. i.e. The user can have start date, price , name , end date. name, start date, price , end date. But at no point can end date appear before start date. Is there a way to do this flex? Is there a way to know where the user is trying to drop the column and show error message ?

I have recently created a quiz that allows user to submit score to database, however I only want the submit button to be available if the user scores 100 % (all questions correct). This is the actionscript used on the final summary screen. is there a way to add to this? if userScore = 100 then display submit button, else leave blank.

I'm trying to set up a preloader to show the load progress of the main swf, which has all of it's assets embedded. I found the factory class method as described on bit-101, but no load progress ever seems to show. The swf loads fine, but the bytesLoaded is always equal to bytesTotal and therefore the preloader is never called.

This correctly calls the Factory class first, and then instansiates Main and calls init(). But as I mentioned above the preloading is never shown as it seems to be loading everything straight away.Is this a problem with the way I'm embedding the images or because I'm testing locally?
I have been tasked with adding button functionality for a fence companies flash application. Specifically, the buttons will be in a drop down horizontal menu. They will have to display (and hide) certain accessories that will be placed on the fence or are a part of the fence itself. For an example of something similar, please check out the design studio at this site -[URL]. It is the application about halfway down the page and after hitting the APP MENU button, it is the top most option.note that as the fence moves (by scrollers) the accessories always stay with the fence. So, I am guessing that the whole thing is a movieclip and that the buttons are referencing?, showing?, hiding? certain aspects of the movieclip.
View 1 RepliesI am using Flash CS3 on Windows and using Dreamweaver CS3 to embed my flash content. I have a Flash banner/animation on my main index.html page that I cannot get to show up. I have provided all relative info/files below. It works find on my local hard drive, but when I upload it (from several different FTP clients) it won't show up on several different computers browsers. It's not my FTP, other items are uploading fine, and I don't think it is browser issues.
I checked the source code of the uploaded site against my Dreamweaver code, and it seems to be the same. So I can't understand what's going on.I tried resaving the file under a new name. The weird part is, I embedded a .swf file initially and it worked. I was asked to make edits to the movie, and I renamed it, replaced old files and now it won't work. I made sure and tried to check all the links to make sure it wasn't trying to link back to my old document, resaved my index.html page etc. [URL]
