I'm using external XML to set flash vars. Alpha works, but not Visibility. How do I get my swf to respond to visibility?

I have created a timeline with visibility button against each column. The timeline.swf is loaded into two empty movieclips to create a two-screen operation. Everything works fine except, I cannot for the life of me get the visibility button on the first swf to affect the visibility for the column on the second swf.

Im a DJ and trying to put together a live visual show. To cut things down ill keep things as simple as possible.I use ableton live and i do a mashup show. I want to animate my monkey logo but in sync with the music.If i trigger michael jackson thriller i want my monkey to do the moonwalk, if i trigger star wars i want the monkey to put on a darth vader hat.I change so spontaneously each time i DJ so i need the monkey to stay dancing to the music, no matter what the tempo, with a series of animations ready in the background to respond to whatever i do with the music.

I would like the pieces to respond to mouseOver, mouseOut, and mouseClick events. From looking at other question/answers, I get the idea I'll need a custom imageCell. Is that the way to go. I was hoping I could get the responses I want by putting the actions into the movieClips themselves as below, but that doesn't seem to work. I want my flash movie to respond to rollover type events for links on my website. The idea being that the flash movie will provide descriptions of the links when moused over, but if the user doesn't have flash the functionality isn't lost. What's the best way to do this (if it's possible)?

View 2 RepliesIn my ongoing quest to learn AS3 I am rewriting some of the many, many interactives I have done in AS2. There have been several AS2 interactives where I have used a map of California. The map itself is a movieclip and within that movieclip, all the counties are movieclips that function as buttons and above the counties are the county names which are also movieclips. In other words when you mouse over the counties they do things; the most simple being the county name alpha goes from 0 to 1. In AS2 all the movieclips respond to roll overs even though they are physically obscured by other movieclips within the main map movieclip.
In AS3 the county movieclips (which are on the lowest layer within the main map movieclip) are obscured by other movieclips on higher layers and do not respond to Roll Overs etc. When I move the county movieclips to the highest layer within the main map movieclip, they work just fine. Of course then they obscure all the map details such as roads, labels, etc. Is there some setting to allow movieclips to be read through other movieclips that are physically above them within a main movieclip.
I'm currently working on a site that is a mixture of Dreamweaver and Flash. I have some Flash movies that are in DIVs in DW. I need to have some links in those Flash movies that can control visibility of other DIVs. In other words I need a link in the Flash movie to work like DWs Show-Hide Elements feature. Is this even possible? I'm using DW CS3 but Flash MX 2004.

I've (actually my classmate) got a problem with loading local ZEND_AMF services on Windows 7 (XAMPP). I can't find any answer on Google or on Stackoverflow. View 1 RepliesI have a situation where my main SWF file loads many external SWF files. However, those external SWF files are just sitting in the public folder of the web server. Is it possible to restrict the SWF visibility to only my main SWF file (the one that loads the external SWFs). In the current state, any user who knows where to look can just type in the URL and get to the SWFs, not to mention rogue bots that don't follow robots.txt.The reason for this is very simple. Users user a username/password to log into the main Flash application and the main Flash application in turn loads the SWF files and ONLY then they are available to the user. Also, depending on who the logged in user is, some SWF files are restricted and not loaded.

View 1 RepliesI have a panel as a sprite containing a gallery of images (only 8 images at the moment!). Each image has mouse rollOver and mouse click event listeners, which work fine initially. Problem is, when I hide the panel using visible = false, then show it again, the mouseEvents aren't firing on the gallery iimages.
Strangely, the same thing happens if instead of using visible true/false, I move the panel off stage and then back on again.
I'm loading an external SWF (pre-made by an other department of the company I work for) using flash.display.Loader. I then traverse the display list, register all objects and listen for added/removed events to handle future changes to the list.

I have trace statements in eveything and from this I know the despatcher in TellAllModeChangeToStudent is being called.The problem is that the listener in the main.as is not calling the function exp.I cant see why and I dont know how to check if the listener is actually seeing the dispatch event?
So I'd like to get my SWF to respond to the user when they just type a word. For example, when they type "hello" , my SWF does some action.
Most of the stuff I've seen is entering text into a text field and then pressing the Enter key or clicking a button.
What I'd like is to type a secret code word and then some easter egg happens. No button clicks, etc. I thought maybe a key listener but that's only one key, how do I get it to work with a whole word?
I have a project in Flash Professional CS5 and ActionScript 3.
I have a movieclip symbol (referred herein as "background" with scripts on various keyframes inside of that symbol. I need to hide or show another symbol (referred herein as "object") sharing a stage with "background".
To put it another way, I need "object" to be hidden when "background" reaches a certain internal keyframe. However, as "object" and "background" are both children of the same stage, how do I do this?

i have in my program few swf files and using mxmlc i compile the application into one swf file. when i open the swf from the output directory(just dbl click) everything works fine. But, when i copy the directory to another location in the hardisk the application stops responding (i can see my swf main picture and its buttons in it. But, when i click a button which just popup a message, it doesn't work!) Note: any location in my workspace, the swf still works fine. But when moving out the workspace it fails

I created a class with a timer, the timer works but I am having 2 problems, I want it to respond to events on I want to start the timer on MOUSE_LEAVE, and stop it on MOUSE_MOVE so that basically whenever the user removes the mouse from the banner it starts the timer cycle again and when the movie detects the user is interacting with the banner it stops the timer
