Professional :: Can Flash Read/respond To Midi

Im a DJ and trying to put together a live visual show. To cut things down ill keep things as simple as possible.I use ableton live and i do a mashup show. I want to animate my monkey logo but in sync with the music.If i trigger michael jackson thriller i want my monkey to do the moonwalk, if i trigger star wars i want the monkey to put on a darth vader hat.I change so spontaneously each time i DJ so i need the monkey to stay dancing to the music, no matter what the tempo, with a series of animations ready in the background to respond to whatever i do with the music.

It is a large gear that rotates CCW when you click the top button and CW when you click the bottom button. Clicking the buttons also retrieves the next element in an array called 'title' and displays it next to the gear. The elements of the array are titles of videos. I need to be able to click on these titles (as hyperlinks) and have them open up a video window to display the video that corresponds to that title. I am using flash CS5 and I am a beginner. I need to create an application (Flash player stand alone) who recieve midi messages from a midi device. I have controler ( Korg nanoPad) and I want to change a movieclip propertie when i hit a pad.
For exemple: Pad1-> MC red, Pad2 -> MC blue, etc...
I just need to recieve midi messages, not to send some.

I'm starting work on a midi piano game in flash. I have my midi keyboard hooked in through the USB. Now I've been told that there is some way to get flash to read any kind of input but I am not sure on how. Basically all that will happen is that u hit a key on the piano and a box shows up of random color. Longer u hold a key bigger it gets. Each key will have different box assigned to it. I think I could handle everything but I'm stuck on the first step and that is getting flash to read the Piano key presses.

So I stick in this flash drive that me and some coworkers use regularly to transfer files to each other, open up a couple of .fla files and edit some text as neccessary for a project. I save, blah blah blah, get about half way done and hit save.Could not save I:folders]q5.fla.The file may be read-only or already open in another application.Save using a different name, or close the document and try again.Saved, saved, saved, saved, FAIL.What the hell, Flash? Did you forget to lock the document out for your use and something else is nabbing "first open" rights.
Edit:I can narrow down the failure to editing a single movieclip. All of the files I'm editing are based off the same source (they're questions to a quiz, and while not intelligently programmed, its what we have). As soon as I edit the contents of the "B" answer (instance name "choice2" movieclip name boxB) I can no longer save the file with the same name.

I thought it would've happened by now. Someone, should make something, to where you can put a transcription(if it's audio/video) of what's being said/spoken, and transcription for text, to let google know exactly what's in the flash container.

we've started using a Flash-based customer management system at work, which we access as a Web service through Internet Explorer (I'm using IE6) and I have to enter each record's information (name, address, etc.) into an Excel spreadsheet.Our IT department has chosen not to develop data import/export capability for this system, so it's up to the end users to develop their own applications.I'd like to automate this data entry, so I'm trying to write a script that will access the Flash being displayed in the browser, and read/write various text fields from the screen.I've been using AutoIT for most of my scripting, but AutoIT doesn't have a way to read Flash objects.Is there some way to do this in JavaScript or some other common scripting language?

I have only ben using flash for a little while and do not know a lot about action scripts.I have used a flash file found online which plays music and has a mute button, but at present it plays the music when the page is viewed at another time.So need to have a cookie or shared obect as i have been told it is, so that when the music tries to play it can read the mute state cookie to decide if it should play or not.i see i can not upload a file so have uploaded to the following location

I have researched the subject for some time now and still haven't figure it out.I use midas3 library (Midi-actionscript3) to import midi to flash. I get each note-item on a timeline. I get the divisions value (192) and all of the "GET-TEMPO" elements are equal to 81.I tried a lot of combinations to get the actual time of the midi but still no good (timeline*192/60 for example).The reason I know it is not synchronized to the actual time is that when I visualize the notes as simple rectangles in flash - I check if they appear exactly to what the mp3 file plays (I have converted the midi file to this mp3 using simple conversion program)I have read a lot about how all is calculated but still haven't figure out the number I need to use to get it right (timeline * MysteriusConstant = ReaTIME, what is the value of MysteriusConstant? is it really constant? and if not how do I calculate how it is changed?)

I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to access a Midi device (like a piano/keyboard or electronic drum set) that is plugged into to a clients USB port over the web.
Obviously the browser security model makes this impossible using just javascript and while it looks like the emerging html5 device standard might help in the future it's apparently not there yet.

I'm making a Flash game (which is basically a version of the same game), and I've used a tileList for the board populated with movieClip pieces. I would like the pieces to respond to mouseOver, mouseOut, and mouseClick events. From looking at other question/answers, I get the idea I'll need a custom imageCell. Is that the way to go. I was hoping I could get the responses I want by putting the actions into the movieClips themselves as below, but that doesn't seem to work. (btw I'm new to the community but have wound up here several times from Google searches

I want my flash movie to respond to rollover type events for links on my website. The idea being that the flash movie will provide descriptions of the links when moused over, but if the user doesn't have flash the functionality isn't lost. What's the best way to do this (if it's possible)?

I want to load a midi file into Flash and have it read the sequence so I can get each musical note from the file.
But I'm not sure where to start on this. how I would go about accomplishing this?

They let you upload a midi file and the recorder animation shows which positions on the flute/recorder you need to place your fingers at.
I'm just interested in how they used Flash to read the individual notes from the midi file.

I am trying to do panning of a movieclip I have two movieclips on stage. canvasPanel_mc and mask_mc. The former is the maskee for the mask (mask_mc). Inside mask_mc there is a movieclip dragCanvas_mc. The alpha of dragCanvas_mc is set to zero. This is code that I am using:

I've created a calculator and it works fine. The only problem I have is that I want to make it easier to use. How can I for example how can I have the calculator respond to my keyboard instead of having to click the number. Instead of having to get the mouse and clcik the 5 I rather just press the 5 on the keyboard.

In my ongoing quest to learn AS3 I am rewriting some of the many, many interactives I have done in AS2. There have been several AS2 interactives where I have used a map of California. The map itself is a movieclip and within that movieclip, all the counties are movieclips that function as buttons and above the counties are the county names which are also movieclips. In other words when you mouse over the counties they do things; the most simple being the county name alpha goes from 0 to 1. In AS2 all the movieclips respond to roll overs even though they are physically obscured by other movieclips within the main map movieclip.
In AS3 the county movieclips (which are on the lowest layer within the main map movieclip) are obscured by other movieclips on higher layers and do not respond to Roll Overs etc. When I move the county movieclips to the highest layer within the main map movieclip, they work just fine. Of course then they obscure all the map details such as roads, labels, etc. Is there some setting to allow movieclips to be read through other movieclips that are physically above them within a main movieclip.

I need to append MIDI files: leave header (same for all files) and other meta information, just copy music/score part. I already have MIDI files in appropriate bytearrays, as I guessed I need to use writeBytes, but unfortunately couldn't find which bytes I need to take and copy. Something like this:
var newFileBytes:ByteArray=new ByteArray();
newFileBytes.writeBytes(firstMIDIBytes);
newFileBytes.writeBytes(secondMIDIBytes,8);
Works only partially, file is playable; first part fully and second - only some notes (then player hangs out)
To say truth byteArrays aren't my strong side, as the MIDI file structure.

I have a banner with big invisible button covering the stage and underneath it I have movieclips which must respond to mouse events. But I can't get through invisible button. I only get button events and cant interact with movieclips underneath it. Here's simple code:

I've (actually my classmate) got a problem with loading local ZEND_AMF services on Windows 7 (XAMPP). I can't find any answer on Google or on Stackoverflow. We've been searching for the cause and tried several things.In a ZEND_AMF tutorial on the Internet we've found an online AMF Service and put that in the code.
