View 1 RepliesI'm looking for a Flash component to display a pdf/word/png in a web page. Something like Flashpaper : [URL] but Free.
View 2 RepliesI am using a media display component to display a short FLV cartoon. I have given the component the instance name "fcEp01" and am successfully controlling its play, rewind and pause functions using buttons using "on (release) {_root.fcEp01.Play();}" and so on. I want to have an additional button that will allow the viewer to toggle the component to fullscreen (and back). I am using AS2 in Flash CS3. I realise that it may be necessary to use a movie clip instead of a regular button, but the tutes I've looked at haven't worked.
View 6 RepliesI'm having some problems with the XML/FLASH Photo Gallery Tutorial ([URL]). When I load the swf file into another movie the dynamic text will not display. Any thoughts to why this is happening.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to read a XML file and display its content in a simple list component or at the console. The problem is that the event listener is triggered in an infinite loop.
The code:
var myXML:XML;
var myLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
myLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, processXML);

I'm trying componentize one of the pieces of UI in an AIR application that I'm developing in Flex. In this example, I want to display file information on a single line (which has an icon, some text/link and the size).
My code looks like this (component is called FileDisplay):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Canvas xmlns:mx="[URL]"><mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
public function set iconType(source:String):void {
this.ficon.source = source;
[Code] .....
However, when I do this, I get an error: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. This is because the child components of the FileDisplay are null (or at least they show up that way in the debugger). Am I supposed to be waiting for events indicating the child components were created? For now I can manually do everything in ActionScript in my main app (create a Canvas and add children to it) but how to separate the code more cleanly.
I am making a flash website and trying to load and display an XML file, but nothing comes up. I'm not an expert at actionscript but I can usually figure my way through it, but it seems like I've met my match here. I want to take the data of an XML file and display it on a page of my site, but nothing's showing up. Here's the code I'm using:
-------------------------------------------------
wmXML = new XML();
wmXML.load("dirlist.xml");
wmXML.ignoreWhite = true;[code]........

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to troubleshoot a Flash Media Server working with a little video playback application I wrote a few years ago that has suddenly stopped working.I'm using CS3/Actionscript 3.My app uses the FLVPlayback Component, and was working well last time I checked. I recevied a report that the videos stopped working, and have been looking into it.I figured I'd add a bunch of event listeners to the FLVPlayback's ncMgr.netConnection so I could get debug info on things like io errors, net status, etc.The problem I'm running into is that the netConnection is null when I set it to anything on my Flash Media Server, and adding any event listeners to this netConnection throws errors.Here's what I've tried so far:
Playback of a local FLV file works fine.In the FLVPlayback documentation, I found an example and stole the URL of the stream they were using in the example, and that works fine, although it is an HTTP protocol stream rather than RTMP.Any attempt to access FLV files on my Media Server, which has worked fine in the past, basically cause the FLVPlayback object to sit and hang in "buffering" mode and never progresses beyond this point.The netConnection object in this case is null.Here's my code:[code]........
Again the purpose of this is to troubleshoot the video streaming from the Flash Media Server, and it seems like there is no netconnection to the server being created.Does this mean that the server is not working, or is there a problem with the way I'm trying to access the content on the server?This was all working fine before, and I have set up the server-side application .ASC files and such to allow things to work fine on the server end.
question about file reference: i have a file reference that can browse for media files (*.flv, *.f4v, *.wmv, *.wma, *.mov) i am trying to load the file Reference in to a video component. i do that by:
video.attachNetStream(ns);
ns.play(null);
myByteArray = fr.data;
ns.appendBytes(myByteArray)
flv files are OK and i can see them and hear them & controll them. but when im trying to load any other kind of movie type, the all thing fails.

View 3 RepliesI have an as3 preloader on the main timeline of my project1.swf It works ok if I test the swf by itself, but when I try to load it into my portfolio file through component loader, the preloader doesn't do anything, it acts as if everything is loaded. What do I need to change to get it to work inside another movie?

This is for mx 2004. How to load variables from an external txt file at the beginning of flash movie...At various keyframes in the scene the movie shows different forms for user to fill in into the TextInput components. As soon as these forms are shown, the TextInput components are pre-filled with default text (the variable values that were loaded, for example "Enter your title here"). I know how to do this in earlier versions easily with the Var variable but now I'm stuck. I've been trying to do something but I keep getting "undefined" in the TextInput.
View 1 RepliesI have used Flash to make skins, which I import and apply to Flex components.But how can I create a component in Flash, with properties and methods. And make it able to be added to the displayList in a Flex app?I installed the Flex component kit for flash. Created my component in flash (it extends MovieClip). Did Command->Convert to flex Component, did File->Published, which gave me a .swc, dropped the .sec file into my Flex project. Now when I create a new var the class "FlashFlexComponentTest" pops up in the new class hint box, so flex sees it. But afterwards I get the error: [code]I added the .swc via project build path -> add SWC.I no longer have a compile-time error but I am getting a runtime error:[code]

We purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts
1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?
2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.
3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.
I want broadcast the television channel in the flash video component. It should be just like seeing TV channel in the internet. I have some knowledge in flash media server. I don't have knowledge to do this. First I want to know that, is it possible to broadcast television channel in the flash video components. If it is what are the software need to use or any other tutorial links.
View 1 RepliesI am using a flipbook Flash/Actionscript 3.0 framework for a digital magazine[url]...
You can have videos embedded in the pages of the flipbook, but they can not be display fullscreen like Youtube videos, for example.
The flipbook can also import swf files to display as pages of the flipbook, so another way of embedding videos into a page of the flipbook would be to have the video player in the swf page you are embedding. This gives you more control over the style and the positioning of the video.
My question is: Is there a way with AS3.0 to togle the embedded video from normal predefined size to fullscreen and back?
I created a custom MXML component, TurboContent, that extends the NavigatorContent class:

In this case, the 'myButton' component never shows up, but all the elements of the base component do (3 buttons and a datagrid).
When I use swfobject (or, for that matter, publish from Flash)...if my HTML file is in the same folder as my Flash .swf (called "bin")...the flash file displays as a blank white page. I can tell the .swf is on the page, because when I right-click I see the flash context menu...however, the swf is blank. So the path isn't written incorrectly.If I move the HTML file inside the "bin" folder and change the path from "bin/myFile.swf" to "myFile.swf" everything works again...what gives?I think it might have something to do with using the Loader class...I am using loaders to loader external .jpeg files. But I don't know what to do about this other than to keep my HTML files in my "bin" folder which is a bit of a pain.

View 15 RepliesI simply have one FLVPlayback component in the background and a movieclip on the layer above with an FLVPlayback component inside it. The first FLV component is constantly looping a five-second video. So all I need is for the movieclip containing the second FLV component to load the right file, fade in, and when the video ends, fade out. Absolutely all of that works... apart from the fading in. What I noticed was that my movieclip was fading in correctly, but the FLVPlayback component was empty and transparent until the fade had finished - then it played the clip. Here's my code, which gets called at random intervals:

We have multiple servers for different offices. SWF is copied to multiple offices and there is script to redirect the path depending on the user location. It works well except that it copies the SWF only once each day. Before it's available, we have to use the path to the staging server location that is only visible to the main office and identified users. If SWF is not copied over, users would see a blank page. I wonder if it's possible to have some kind of Javascript that will display an image (can be stored in the main office while accessed by all) if SWF can't be found. This would make it more usable during our update time.
