I have Flex application(not AIR) thats load image and perform some effects, application works well in flash builder and in the debug folder. But when I am trying to copy *.swf to another local folder, appears problems with image loading.
UPDATE You don't understand me, i am trying to load image from desktop using FileReference class, image shows successfully, but origBitmap after saveAsBitmap() method is null

i'm having real issues with what I thought would be quite a simple transitional effect.I've made a simple test fla with 3 images (movieclips) which move on to the stage from left to right and fade from alpha 0 -100 at the same time. Images move on to the stage in response to clicking 3 separate buttons (Image 1, Image 2 and Image 3). Buttons are set to perform transitional effects which have been 'saved' as functions in the actionscript.
The image that is currently on the stage should fade out as a new image is called in - but I cannot seem to achieve it. Trying to research how to achieve this is getting me nowhere fast, just getting more confused with 'image loaders','transition manager','arguments' etc, etc .Here is my (embarrassing) sample code so far:
There is more code, but nothing that relates to the transitional effects.Currently, each transition function 'tells' the other 2 images to fade out (whether they are on the stage or not). This works, but some images appear above others which means that they fade out on top of the image that has just been called on to the stage, which is a serious problem.
I guess some additional functions are required in the code that somehow differentiate between what is the current image (which should fade out) and what is the new image (which should move in and fade in above any other image on the stage).
Well I'm creating a small image gallery of thumbnails and am looking for interesting effects when the big pic loads. I'm sick of just fading in images with the alpha setting and need some inspiration. I've done a google search but it revealed nothing of any use.
Do you know of any tutorials for this or fla downloads?

I am working on an as3 slideshow class and I came across a blog post that gave me the idea to use better transitions than the sliding out and fading I originally intended to use. [URL]The source for that class is available and it is a good starting point but I wanted to check and see if anyone know of similar projects that had more effects. Right now I just have the random explode effect from the above link and before I start working on effects I wanted to see what was out there.

UPDATE Appears new problem as I am using var data:BitmapData = new BitmapData(currImg.width, currImg.width); saved image is small(size like image control) but I need to save image with original size. With var data:BitmapData = Bitmap(currImg.content).bitmapData; it worked
I am using AS2 in flash CS3. I am trying to set up a communication between a flash client and a C# server. I would like to know if Flash allows me to perform XML serialization in the way that C# does. This is because I would like to use the XMLserialization class in C# for passing of data. If this is not possible, what other methods are available for communication?
When I'm making projects with Flex (or Flash Builer) the end result usually performs much better than a similar level project made with the Flash authoring tool. I know Flash IDE is rather for animations and design heavy works so you can't really compare these 2 tools, but this question is bugging me for a long time.If apps made with Flex (or Flash Builder) are really faster and less CPU intensive - why is that?
The file consists of 3 buttons and 3 input fields. Clicking either of the first 2 buttons will place a specific number in one of the 2 corresponding input fields. The third button adds the previous 2 values and displays the result in the 3rd input field. The fields themselves are uneditable and only for displaying the numbers. My question is what is the correct listener/function to have the "total" function perform automatically when either of the first 2 text fields change in value.[code]

It will basically walk you through the windows to perform a typical setup, with some branching off for special cases. Essentially a main series of screen shots with text that you can scroll through using arrows, with links off to other screen shots or sequences as need. My boss wants it to be "hip and flashy", so wants me to look into Flash. But is that the best tool to use for this ? In all the Flash tutorials I have been watching I haven't seen anything that looks like that kind of application.

There's a SWF file on one page that, when you click on a 'Start' button loads some image. The URL to this image is passed as a SWFObject variable. I would like to change this image to one I have uploaded on my host. have tried setting a breakpoint on the line that pushes the image URL variable to the object and setting my URL, but the image wouldn't load because of cross-domain policy.Now I am thinking of writing a simple c# proxy which will return my image instead of the real one when Flash requests it .To sum it up, I want to replace an image that SWF loads from a constant URL to a custom image of mine. Decompiling is not an option.
We have multiple servers for different offices. SWF is copied to multiple offices and there is script to redirect the path depending on the user location. It works well except that it copies the SWF only once each day. Before it's available, we have to use the path to the staging server location that is only visible to the main office and identified users. If SWF is not copied over, users would see a blank page. I wonder if it's possible to have some kind of Javascript that will display an image (can be stored in the main office while accessed by all) if SWF can't be found. This would make it more usable during our update time.

I'm using Flash CS4, and a template that I got from a friend to create a website.The template I have uses this "man figure" on the right side of the file. I want to make it so that this pictures loads a different picture each time the page refreshes. The picture can be randomly rotated to a different picture.I'm wondering if there is a possibility to do this, and if so, how should I go about it.My knowledge of Flash is very poor..Here is the template and swf file of the original file I have uploaded to a downlaodable website.
