I am just wondering if it is possible to show an image instead of flash content for mobiles? I want to allow the adobe sniffer to do its thing when it is people using pc and mac browsers and direct them to the plug in page to download the flash player if they need it, but is there a way to sniff for a mobile / smart phone browser and if they cant view flash it will show an image instead?

I have read all the documentation and more on optimizations. My question is that if you have to resize sfws for different mobiles is it best to have a res thats the biggest mobile and the rest we can use fullscreen. Or is it best to make a smaller swf and have it size up to full screen. Obviously we are not going to create an swf in 20 sizes. By the way, is it MORE processor hogging for a mobile to size down a 800 by 600 standard swf than to downsize an swf thats only a little larger than the mobile screen.

I have just been asked to do a project that i can do it in flash cause of its interactivity and graphical comunication and so on... its like an interactive map, VERY interactive. BUT, came the question of how long more will Flash survive after the HTML5 and the discontinuing of flash player for mobiles.Does it worth it doing it on Flash or should i move to something else?
View 8 RepliesI have created a simple "Hello World" Application using Flash Builder Burrito SDK. I have tested the result in the emulator it is working great. After that I deployed the application using "Export Release Build Option" and entered valid certificate details and created the .apk file. I copied the .apk file into the device and i run the application. I am unable to run the app. I have tried these in 3 android supported devices and in each of these I am getting different error messages.
I have mentioned the device in which I have tested and the error message I got while I tried to install the app (.apk file).
HTC Desire - "Error while parsing the package of the application"
Samsung Galaxy Tab - "Error while parsing the package of the application"
LG Optimus one (LG P500) - "Application not installed"
I have created a New Mobile Project in the flash SDK and added simple label "HELLO WORLD" in the view section. Before deploying I have installed Adobe AIR 2.5 in the device. I need to know whether any restrictions are there for applications developed using Flash Burrito Preview Release. (whether by default all android mobile version more than 2.1 will support it?) Also when I try to install "Tour De Mobile Flex" apk in LG Optimus, it is saying "Device not supported" message. How do I overcome these problems to run the apk file without any problems.

Like being able to CMS a gallery or about us section. Also the ability for menus to be modified, like change or add or subtract a few.
I have some 3rd party Flash SWFs on my site that are up to 100KB in size. e.g. the Flash video player "JWPlayer" SWF is 98KB.
That's fine for people with Broadband, but not so good for the slow dial up bandwidth visitors. e.g at 40 kbits/s, we're talking 20 seconds to download.
The problem is that on slow connections, all the visitors are seeing is a static white screen, and so may close the page thinking it's dead. If I right click the area where the SWF is to go, an Adobe Flash Player Object is occupying the space, but the 3rd party SWF has not finished loading in yet.
I would like the website visitors to see a loading spinner GIF or something similar.
Unfortunately, none of the 3rd party SWFs have "preloader" element. And they are not open source, so I cannot add a preloader to them.
Is there any way to display a loading image, prefereably a GIF animation, while the SWF is loading?
For example, is there any way to force the Adobe Flash Player to show an image while it is loading in the SWF?
I don't have any Flash coding skills, so a solution that doesn't include creating an extra SWF or a SWF within a SWF would, probably isn't best for me, but might be worth adding to the post in case other people have a similar problem.
Currently everything loads perfectly except for the thumbnails and I really cannot figure out why or how to make it work. All thumbnails are .jpg's so that's not the issue, I know it has to do something with the coding.

I am setting up a small community, online based Radio Station where it shows a section for the schedule. I would like this schedule to show different listings, depending on what day of the week it is.
I am fairly new to ActionScript, therefore I do not yet understand the syntax properly and understand ActionScript 3.0 would be easier for myself to learn first, however my movie is quite big as it is and unless I can convert it to ActionScript 2.0 I'll need to learn how to do this.

View 2 RepliesI have Background layer, Bkg_Image layer & Video layer. I have embeded the flv movie on Video layer. Though on stage it shows all the layers, but when I test the movie it shows only Background layer & Video layer. I can't see the Bkg_Image layer.
The Actions layer has external swf loading AS3 which is working fine. Only the problem with Bkg_Image layer which is imprortant for me.

My client has purchased a Flash template which I'm in the process of editing. The XML file has 5 images linked to the Flash file, I've replaced the first 3 images, all works when uploaded to the remote server but when I delete the the last image (5) only the first 2 images show when run in Flash Player. If I view it in live view Dreamweaver (CS5) it runs with no problems ie it runs through the 4 images as expected.Can't figure it out checked the usual things, deleted the files on the server, cleared the cache in Firefox, I'm quite rattled spent the whole day on this, still can't get it to work.

View 3 RepliesI'm attaching several movieclips onto the stage inside a for-loop and populating a dynamic textfield within the moviclip inside the same loop.Tracing the texfield.text shows the proper value in the Output console. However, the text value is not visible on the stage. I've drew a shape next to the dynamic textfield just to make sure the movieclip is being properly attached. I can see the shape but there is no text next to it.

The stage is 700x550
The image is 2100x1650, and it's registration point is at its center, if I remember correctly.The initial location of the image on the stage is 350,75.I want to make sure that the user will be able to drag the image, as long as the edges of the image doesn't show.here's what I did:

The the top and the left of the image are bounded well, but as far as the bottom and the right side of the image.

I have an animation that shows items highlighted in a diagram. As the items are highlighted, the audio will play (to explain the animation). because we are creating this for people with possible disabilities, we also created captions with text for the audio. So, in separate layers, we created speech bubbles and text that is synchronized to the animated actions on the screen. this will also be synchronized with the audio. We want to have a button (close captioning button) that when users press it, they see the text captions and if they press it again, they don't see the text captions. my questions are
1) what will be the easiest way to create the effect i am looking for?
2) what actionscript command will i need for the button's actions?
I am making a website in flash for my business that consists of several elements. For example I have one menu on top with the usual "contact", "resume", "about" and so on, and so far this is not the problem as I only need some text to show up when the button is clicked. But on the left i have another menu with different sections called "animations", "layouts", "illustrations" and so on, and the point is that each link is supposed to start a slideshow with my artwork depending on the category. How to make the buttons show content, and I even created a simple slideshow (with prev and next buttons).

Now the only thing left to do is to actually make the different buttons show the slideshows. I have tried to embed the swf of the slideshow in the frame of my content layer that is dedicated to the layout button. I've had to try a few things. at first the slideshow didn't do what I previously programmed it to: instead of me having to click next or prev, it just flipped through all the images continuously. That I fixed, but now the only thing that still doesn't work are the buttons. they seem active when I test the movie, but they don't take me anywhere- they're just stuck on the first image.

I did this so I could make a custom web page that generates the code need to display the video in a web page if it is one of the folders. My question is how do I get these folders and their content to show up in the Administrative Console? Also how do I get the videos to be logged? I have looked through the Server.xml and Application.xml files and the fms.ini but do not see any place, Am I not looking for the correct setting? Attached is a pic of the folders.
