Flash :: Uncompress Zip Data Without ByteArray.inflate()

View 1 RepliesI can't seem to get a stream that Flex 3 want's to decompress.
I've tried:
System.IO.Compression.GZipStream
System.IO.Compression.DeflateStream
ICSharpCode.SharpZipLib.Zip.Compression.Streams.DeflaterOutputStream
zlib.ZOutputStream
None of these seem to make ByteArray.uncompress happy, i.e. I get
Error #2058: There was an error decompressing the data.
Also the whole Deflate vs zlib has me going around in circles. It seems that according to the wikipedia article, zlib is an implementation of DEFLATE. But according to Actionscript they are two different things?
Microsoft also seems to indicate the Gzip at least uses the Deflate algorithm, as in their docs they refer that GZipOutputStream uses the same compression algorithm as DeflateStream. So I'm assuming that it's just a header difference, which would indicate that's "no good" as far as 'ByteArray.uncompress' as the "DEFLATE" algorithm is only supported in AIR applications.
Sample "server" code, using SharpZipLib in this case (not working):
public virtual bool ProcessRequest(string path, HttpListenerContext context)
{
var buffer = File.ReadAllBytes(path);
// Specifying to strip header/footer from data as that seems to be what the
[code]....
Does the uncompress method of ByteArray only supports level 3 compressed streams? Because I have a valid zlib compressed file but compressed in level 2, and Flash always throws me the 2058 error message.
I've also tried using the DefaultCompressionAlgorithm class for AIR with its two compression methods, but with no success.
Doing some quick tests with python using the same file gets uncompressed with no problems.
I'm using URLStream to download a big file and save locally on a mobile app. To do this, i need to store the downloaded bytes on a ByteArray:
private function handleStreamProgress(event : ProgressEvent) : void {
if ( urlStream.bytesAvailable == 0 ) return;
if ( urlStream.connected ) {
[Code]....
Are these bytes from the downloaded file stored in Memory? (Profiler doesn't show any excessive memory consumption, though...)
Should I clean the byteArray after each sequence of bytes is stored?
I am using the FileReference object. I want to be able to save the local file data into a ByteArray. I know that I can use the data property in Flash 10, but I would like a solution that works for earlier versions of Flash.
View 1 RepliesAccording to the NetStream API, Flash can play LOCAL RAW video by calling ns.play("raw:filename");.My question is how can Flash play RAW video data from a ByteArray? I have basically set my NetStream object to data generation mode by calling play(null), but whenever I call ns.appendBytes(byteArray) nothing is happening because apparently, appendBytes only support FLV data. how can I make Flash play raw video data from a ByteArray?
View 1 RepliesI'm able to record sound with a Flash application embedded in my website, this audio is saved to a ByteArray, which I need to pass to Javascript in order to post to my server along with other required data.
I know I can use AS3 ExternalInterface class to communicate with Flash from Javascript, but what would be the appropriate format or variable type in javascript to hold the ByteArray, and how can I ensure that I won't lose much audio data when doing so?
I have a web application developed in Adobe Flex 3 and Python 2.5 (deployed on Google App Engine). A RESTful web service has been created in Python and its results are currently in an XML format which is being read by Flex using the HttpService object.Now the main objective is to compress the XML so that there is as less a time between the HttpService send() method and result events. I looked up Python docs and managed to use zlib.compress() to compress the XML result.Then I set the HttpService result type from "xml" to "text" and tried using ByteArrays to uncompress the string back to XML. Here's where I failed. I am doing something like this:[code]Its throwing an exception at byteArray.uncompress() and says unable to uncompress the byteArray. Also when I trace the length of the byteArray it gets 0.[code]
View 1 RepliesHow can I get the bytearray data from an image that is under certain shape, for example a circule or square?Let's say I want to modify ONLY the pixel inside this circule, how can I get this Bytearray data?
View 1 RepliesSo, as the title says I was wondering if it is possible to scale bytearray/binary data from lets say 640x480 which is being captured from the stage to 1024 x 768
View 1 RepliesI'm currently working on a small project. The user is supposed to draw/do a puzzle within flash, and also fill out a form with his details and comments.
When clicking the send-button, the image should be sent along with the form as an email.
I already know how to send the image as an email via php, and I know how to send a form as an email via php, BUT - I can't seem to do it together.
I've googled a bit and I found out that I cannot pass both the bytearray (from the image) and the form-data as URLVariables at the same time.
One way I got it to work is by passing the values from the form-data as a part of the URLRequest (and then use $_GET in the .php-file), but this has limitations as it can only pass 100 characters. As the user should be able to comment on his work, using GET with its limitations isn't an option.
I would need to save some binary data (bitmap data or similar) as a part of XML file.[code]...
I suppose I must serialize or encode "ba" (binary bytearray data) some way to string before writeing to XML and decode them back during the reading from XML, but I cannot find the correct way how to do it.
i have a string which contains all binary data. the binary data represents a custom object in my application.
i want to convert all the data inside the string into binary format and store it in a ByteArray. then I want to read the object from the ByteArray using readObject.
I am facing some issues sending byteArray as part of my URLRequest data to a cfm page.I need to send an collection of objects as part of byteArray.But when i try doing so,i get illegalArgumentException.I am doing it this way
var obj:Object=new Object();
obj.name='Mike';
obj.age='26';
var byteA:ByteArray=new ByteArray();
[Code].....
Secondly when i tried sending xml obj as part of ByteArray,It worked fine ,but i get unwanted characters appended at the start and end of the xml.
Im creating flash game that have the functionality to capture/record its gameplay that can be viewed later by the user, like a replay.
As for now Im already able to record the game and write it into a flv format in a ByteArray variable.
What Im working right now is how to send that ByteArray(the video file) to a php script and save it to a web server.
I've run into the URLLoader in flash where it can send the data and php will receive it thru the POST method. Unfortunately, the ByteArray containing the flv data must be first correclty encoded for php to read it. I figured this out from the example in the net where it does the same thing only that it is only sending a JPEG ByteArray instead of a FLV format using the JPEGENCODER.
Is there any existing class like the JpegEncoder for FLV format or any Video formats? Or any work around like creating the encoder my self?
here is my current code to send the ByteArray
//send byteArray to a php script
var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
request.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
[Code]....
I have some binary data and I can't store it in a string, as such I'm using a ByteArray. The problem is that I need some functionality that comes with strings, to be specific I need the charAt, substr, indexOf and substring methods.
View 1 RepliesI have a byteArray of recorded sound.But how can I transfer the ByteArray data back to a real Sound object?I know that I can pass the ByteArray to an SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA listener , but that way I would have to keep the raw ByteArray and pass it every time the sound plays.
View 2 RepliesI have an AS3 swf which users can upload jpg images to my EC2 instances which sit behind and Elastic Load Balancer. The jpg images are converted into bytearray data and sent using URLLoader.load(URLRequest)I make 2 calls when uploading, one to upload a large version, then another to upload a thumbnail version. A PHP script to which the bytearray data is uploaded converts this to a file using file_put_contents($destination,$GLOBALS["HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA"])Is it possible to combine these two requests into a single request which contains both the bytearray data for the large and thumbnail images and 'split' the HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA to create 2 files at the server. This would be better than uploading the bytearray for the large version then using something like ImageMagick to resize the resulting image into a thumbnail which I realise is another option.
View 1 RepliesHow to encode LONG_INT binary representation from AS3 Number data type (using ByteArray)?Need it for implementing data transmission protocol between client and server.
View 5 RepliesI am working on a game, made with Flash (using AS3) The game has a fast ball and when this ball hits an object it has to make a sound... but the sound starts with delay (so the ball is far away when the sound is played).This sound is edited by me and it hasn't got any silences at the beginning.The method i'm currently using is the simplest one:
public var sonidoPuntos1:sonidopunto1 = new sonidopunto1()
and then...
sonidoPuntos1.play()
I am trying to introduce the file into a ByteArray and then playing it from there...
I know its a true Pain but does anyone know any way to convert wav ByteArray to mp3 ByteArray.
View 1 RepliesThe data provider (ArrayCollection) for my data grid consists of objects with ByteArray (int) fields. How do I make the data field display as int without transforming my data provider?
View 1 RepliesThe BLOB field (pic) is turning out as 0 Bytes when trying to send ByteArray through as3 to PHP, so i assume the PHP script or the HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA isn't working.I think the Flash part is working, I have set a trace() to see if the bitmapdata is coming through and it seems it is, so I'm assuming its my php side.3
private function export():void
{
var bmd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(600, 290);

How to save ByteArray to HardDrive from Flash swf?
So... I have a generated if flash ByteArray Now I want to save it to Hard Drive.
The complied SWF is not showing the preloader until the whole SWF completely loaded.
View 1 RepliesI have to convert a MovieClip to ByteArray and send it to php using the POST method. The person handling php says that only ByteArray needs to be send and conversion to JPG and PNG can be done from PHP side. When I built the option for saving on the local machine the following steps were used.
Converting to Bitmapdata
Using JPGEncoder and PNGEncoder on the Bitmapdata
Then assiging to byte array variable.
So in this case different byte arrays were used for saving in case of JPG and PNG and it worked.
I found the code to convert movieclip to bytearray in Stackoverflow itself

What is the simpliest way to find an occurance of some sequance of bytes (string) in a long byte array?
UPD: I tried to do
my_byte_array.toString().indexOf(needle_string);
the problem is that in flash/air string consist of utf8 characters, so indexOf will return value different from offset of "string" in a byte array (actually it's zip archive)
How can I get the size of a ByteArray in bytes? I want to know, to see the difference in data transferred before and after the compression of a string (via ByteArray).
View 1 Repliesi have a problem passing ByteArray from flash (as3) to amfphp to save an image.With old version of amfphp, all worked in the past... now, with new version i have many problem.I'm using version 2.0.1 and the first problem is that i have to do this, for access to my info:
