I have a movieClip in my library that I am loading into a scrollPane. When I click on the scrollPane I want to know the name of the target I am clicking on. I am trying event.currentTarget but all that I get in the output box is ObjectMovieClip. I want to use one function for all my buttons so when I click on them it loads another movieClip in my library. I realize I could make 3 separate functions, but I'ld like to use just one.

Flash Layers Move To Right When Child Object Is Resized

I am having a problem with a flash piece that I created. I don't understand why it is doing what it is doing. I am new to flash but I have been developing software and database applications for over 10 years.I am trying to make a horizontal scroller piece that reads in data from an xml document. So basically the XML has properties of image, title, and link, I then load the images and titles into an object spaced out properly and link the image to open a new window when the image is clicked. I have 4 layers:

1. Actions
2. Buttons
3. Layer1
4. Scroller

The buttons layer has 2 buttons on it, one left aligned and one right aligned. When you mouse over the buttons, the images in the scroller move the direction the button image is pointing. The Scroller Layer has an object of type scroller (which i made) and that scroller instance name is scrollerbar.In actionscript I use a sprite object to load the image and then use scrollerbar.addChild(photo) to add the sprite into the scrollerbar. Then I set it's width, height, x and y to be in the correct position.Now when this first runs, it works displays 6 images and titles and they are linked, and has a button on the left and right. When I mouseover either of the buttons, everything gets moved to the right, the buttons, the scroller, and all the images inside the scroller. So the left button is no longer against the left side, and you can hardly see the right button because it almost gets pushed outside the viewable area.Can anyone explain why everything is getting pushed over like that? It only happens the first time you mouse over a button, subsequent mouseovers of either button do not cause this to happen again.[code]

I want to use mutliple images in my flash script and instead of writing tons of code I want to get the 'currentTarget' and assign a variable name to it so I can tweenlite it . Instead of me naming all the instances i thought the following would work but it doesn't.

Ok I have this 100% width/height Flash embedded and when the user moves the mouse I want to display a panel, which disappears after x seconds if there is no more mouse movement.

I think I need an addEventListener, but I am not sure MOUSE_MOVE is the correct one. When the mouse stops moving I need to start x seconds to hide the panel, so I think with a timer?

I have a motion tween user icon (UImovingM1) moving from one point to another when I add its child. Once that user icon gets to the exact x and y coordinates that I want, I want to go into another function where that child (UImovingM1) is removed (along with a background) to add a new background. Now my small problem is that when I get into my goToMoneyTemp function, where the motion tween user icon is added, it plays the movie of the user icon moving over and over again. I'm making a game with a character and wide backdrop. The charcter is spawned and can then move about the stage, and currently the stage only reveals part of the backdrop. I basically want my character to be able to explore the backdrop. I was thinking that maybe I could do some code that tells the backdrop's x-value to change in the same way as the character's.My charcter's code is all kept in a class file, so I'm also not 100% sure if I should create a new class file to relate to my backdrop.

Also I'll need to stop the character before he walks off the edge of the backdrop, so is there any way I could also say "the character cannot travels past these two x points (the two edges of the backdrop).

I'm trying to get used to the new way of doing things in CS4. Once I've created a MC and rotated it in 3D, how can I move it across the screen w/o rotating it further? I have a MC that rotates over several frames, and once it reaches the last one, I want it to stop rotating, then begin to slide in an X direction (while reducing the alpha). But no matter which tool I use or what I do on the timeline, the object is stuck in place and will only rotate and not move. Even the 2D X and Y settings in the properties panel are grayed out.

The object loads but the function is not called. I can call the function other ways such as using an "onclick = mainFunction()" event on a button for example.
