Im expecting a simple notepad document that they can FTP to a specific folder is the best way but I didnt want to give them access to the entire site.

Sep 17, 2004I have a meeting with a potential client this upcoming Wed. If I am hired, I will be redesigning his website, the major components he wants are galleries of his sculpture art and a way to update the images himself.
My idea: develop a custom CMS so he or his secretary can easily update what images are in the online flash galleries. My idea right now is an HTML/PHP form where they would enter what gallery the image goes to and maybe an upload button for the image, they hit submit and the PHP form edits an XML document which is where the gallery gets its image info from. Can anyone help me figure out how to do this? Or if there is an easier way to develop a CMS for them to update the images in the gallery themselves? Being able to remove images via a custom CMS would be ideal.

Mar 21, 2005I'm working with FLash+XML, and I had a thought: I don't want to give my clients Flash+XML solutions, if they will have to edit the XML themselves. It's too complicated for them.So I thought of a Flash Application for offline use, that would be some sort of a XML Content Management System, built in flash, suitable for offline use (user should upload updated .XML files which is OK). In this app, creating / editing / removing nodes should be like managing folders and their content in Windows Explorer.I don't believe my mind is bright enough to be the first having this idea, perhaps such program already exists. Does it?

The troublesome bit is that the client wants an easy way to update his gallery.PHP content management system I could use? I've looked into Gallery2, and Plogger but haven't found any tutorials about pulling XML data out of them and into Flash.Does anyone have any experience using a Photo Gallery content management system and plugging it into Flash?

Apr 8, 2011I've developed a CMS system that allows users to change the textual content and save the changes back to an XML doc.All works fine in English but the writing to the XML Keeps falling over when it reaches a foreign character.. Even when wrapped with the CDDATA tag.The application needs to support users translating the content into different languages.
I'm using zinc to write out the XML string.During runtime all changes are stored back directly to the XML object ( the same one that is loaded at the start and is used to populated the CMS) then I use XML.toString() to create a string variable to pass to zinc to save out the file..

Mar 25, 2010I've built a simple flash application that takes a user's photo/image, offers various effects and filters to play with. In the end, the application can write-out the resulting image to a PDF print file (to be purchased and sent to a printer).Currently I'm using PHP to template the web pages, with the Flash app embedded in the body of one of the pages.
I now need to integrate a shopping cart and check-out system, the idea being that the user can play with images, add various images to a shopping cart, at some point choose print sizes for each image, check-out and purchase etc. My app would attached the necessary print files, and email/submit the order to the printer.In researching the various cart systems out there like Zen-cart, Magento, osCommerce, etc.. these all seem to be full featured CMS systems, full websites, that you deploy, customize and skin, add products to etc... a "canned store". But in my case, I'm adding/creating the product at run-time. It's not a traditional store where you browse and select items.
At first glance its not clear to me how I would use one of these systems, how to integrate with my Flash app.... it seems I only want to make use of the shopping cart, customer database portion, payment transaction features.Is it possible to use one of these, using only the checkout and order management through a API? called from my Flash app? or processed via back-end PHP?
Flash :: Flex - Find References To The File System In A Application?
Jul 22, 2010I need to disable all the aspects of functionality which access the client file system in a flash/flex application. I started having a look on how to do this. It appears that the package flash.filesystem need to be importated to allow the interaction with the file system. However, I did not find any reference to this package in the application. I am a beginner concerning these technologies so maybe I am missing a point here. Do I need to look into an other direction?

Sep 16, 2009Does anyone know if adobe flash player cache data is available to other users on a system? For example: A user logs onto Windows XP, then uses my adobe flex application... and in the process of doing so downloads the signed flex lib... He then decides to mow the lawn and log off. At about 3pm the same day, his Mum can't hear the TV over the sound of the mower, so she decides to log in using a different XP user account. She proceeds to use the very same flex application. Does she also need to download the flex lib again, or would the data already be cached in the flash player?

Aug 7, 2009I got a textfile who i am reading on a serverside script and passing it as a script to my client side as3 code. The problem is that i am using characters like ä,ö,ü,ß and this isn't well displayed. I tried System.useCodePage but the compiler complains about : 1120: Access of undefined property 'System'. It doesnt matter if I tried this on the first line of the 'Action' in the first scene or in the first line of the first .as file i am loading. (btw i am only working with .as file and not in the timeline). When i am importing flash.System.* the compiler complains he dont know useCodePage.

Feb 21, 2011This maybe a bit of a 'wide' question, but am putting together a brief overview of a new system I'm proposing at work. It will be a POS style system, that does quotes and invoices + crm for our work enviroment across 100 + locations.
It will communicate with server via the Internet. Flex / Air feature set (offline SQL is Internet goes down, Rich communications, rich client environment etc), the fact that we run Macs + PC makes it looks like a great choice. I know HTML 5 has offline SQL and stuff, but flex feature set is way more comprehensive / usable etc..Is anyone doing any big corporate Flex / Air projects that need to last a long time? Or are you pushing HTML and its new technologies to provide a more safe investment.

The zoom just works fine by changing the value from 1 up to 3 with a slider. Midpoint of the zoom is the center of the container (map).My problem: when i zoom, the scroller cuts a part of the groups. it zooms out of the window?!

Flex :: Flash Builder4.5 - Printing HTML Content ?
Dec 10, 2011need to print html generated invoices from a distant server, using the print class, event if bitmap is set as false, will render the invoice a bitmap. at least the text is blurry and not usable. alivepdf could be a solution but i need to print straight, not save the pdf locally. i don't even understand, giving the fact this print class sucks badly, flex won't allow a simple javascript print function from the remote page.

Dec 3, 2010I can display the icon of a file that has been associated with that file in the native OS.
I have a tile list of a folder's contents. For images, I display the image, for everything else I display a generic image. However, it would be great if I could tap into the OS and just use the icon that the OS uses. For example, if I have installed Microsoft Word on my computer, then when I view a word document in the file system it will display the word icon that Microsoft created for word documents. For MP3's it might be an iTunes type sound icon, if I have iTunes installed and so on.
Basically, for all the files in my tile list I want to just show the same icon that Windows, or Mac OS would etc.
In addition to this, if the OS creates a thumbnail for the file (images, videos and PDFs for example) is it possible to tap into this OS generated thumb?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Content To Load Into The Loader And Have Its Content Change Once Click On The Other Button Flash 8
Aug 15, 2009I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. I just want the content to load into the loader and have its content change once I click on the other buttons. Here is a copy and past of that I have at the moment, I'm using Flash 8 to do it all.
