Bug/Error In The Adobe Flex SDK 4.5 When Removing Series From Cartesian Charts?
Mar 2, 2012I have a problem with the cartesian charts in the Adobe Flex SDK 4.5 and 4.5.1. Perhaps it's a bug, because it's not in the SDK 4.0, 4.1 and 4.6. Or it's just a problem of my code.
I made a little example project to range over series data in a CartesianChart (Line/Area/Column/Bar), a little bit like the google finance chart. When I add all series to the chart, the problem didn't occur. Only when I have multiple series and remove one or more series and than range over the data, the series data get compressed:
Chart image It seems like the horizontal axis didn't change or didn't get an update that the chart data changed, when I range over the current data.

Flex :: Flash - DataGrid Column Width: One Column To Rule Them All?
Nov 16, 2010I have a Flex 4, mx:DataGrid with the following (pertinent) properties set:
width="100%"horizontalScrollPolicy="off"
I have the minWidth set on all of the DataGridColumns and the width set on one of them. If I simply maximize/minimize the display (in browser or stand-alone flash player) of the application, the columns scale up and down nicely. But if you grab the edge of the application and drag it to make it bigger, only one column grows really big. When you drag the size down again, the one column remains big, but all of the other columns get squished way down.

Jun 16, 2009Can we change the width of the datagrid column dynamically by clicking on the border of the column in order to display the complete string which is too long to be displayed and needs to be scrolled ? If so, How ?
Also, how can we ensure that the column width changes dynamically based on the number of characters / length of string; since many a times the data is too long to be displayed. Can we set the column width to take the length of data into consideration before displaying onto the datagrid ?

Actionscript 3 :: Unable To Change Column Width Dynamically In Flex Datagrid
May 17, 2011I am using a singleton class (popup, which means it doesn't forget the last used variables) which contains a datagrid. I am making various columns visible/invisible, setting the widths and headers in accordance to data received from a database call. Everything works fine except that when I put the breakpoints before and after the point where I change width of columns, I do not see the change in width of datagrid at all! Instead I see some values totally out of sync as widths of datagrid column! However, since it is a singleton class, the next time I call this popup, I see widths which I did set up in last call.
I must be messing up in calling the setWidth() function (which is my custom function which changes the width of datagrid in action script). What should be the point where I should call this function? I tried in creationComplete, show and in the setter of dataprovider.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Series Of Dynamically Generated SWFs
Oct 6, 2008I'm working on a project where I need to load a series of dynamically generated swfs. The catch is that the composition of each swf depends on the result of loading the previous swfs. For example, if I generate a swf (just writing bytes to a ByteArray), call it A, then load that swf...

etc...
It turns out that this is very slow. It doesn't matter how simple the swfs are -- 40 or 50 of these can take several seconds. This is just too slow for my needs. How I might speed this process up? Is there some way to make the loadBytes calls finish more quickly? Or maybe an alternative, faster way to dynamically load actionscript bytecodes?

I want to allow users to select a range of values on the X-axis via 2 sliders separate from the chart itself (one for the minimum value, one for the maximum.) By default the column bars are blue. But when the user selects a range, I would like to highlight that range in the chart a different color (eg. orange). How can this be done using ActionScript?

Aug 18, 2010I'm creating a table that displays information from a MySQL database, I'm using foreignkeys all over the place to cross-reference data.
Basically I have a datagrid with a column named 'system.' The system is an int that represents the id of an object in another table. I've used lableFunction to cross-reference the two and rename the column. But now sorting doesn't work, I understand that you have to create a custom sorting function. I have tried cross-referencing the two tables again, but that takes ~30sec to sort 1200 rows. Now I'm just clueless as to what I should try next.
Is there any way to access the columns field label inside the sort function?

Has anyone seen or heard of a way to set the dataTipRenderer on a per-series basis? You can only override it for the entire chart and I would prefer to not have to overlay multiple charts just to achieve this effect.
