Flex :: Global EventListener, When Focus Inside The TexiInput?
Apr 7, 2011
I'm trying to make a global eventListener. Everything works fine, the KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN fires all the time .. except the cases when the textInput has a focus.Here's how I attach listener:
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.systemManager.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, keyDownHandler, true);I've tried both (use capture and without it).
I've developed a component which is a combination of a few items (canvas, labels, etc...) but when I try to bind it to a variable such as: {stationXML.getItemAt(1).AAA.@value}, it doesnt work. Before I combined all the items in a component, they were all in the main MXML file at which time they worked. Not sure if it matters, but the "stationXML" arraycollection variable is declared inside the file "Station.as".
The variable currentIndex is declared globally and initialized with a certain value say '0'. How do I hold the value of currentIndex which is incremented every time the function is called? In the given code, every time the function is called, the value is reinitialized.
I've wrote a custom itemrenderer for a List component (Flex 3.5) which is a VBox with a Label and a TextArea wrapped inside. All works fine so far but I want the TextArea in the first itemrenderer to receive focus so that it instantly becomes editable when tabbing onto the List. Is that possible and if how would I achieve this?
I've already added an event listener that selects the item at index 0 but the textArea in it should also be focussed at that moment _list.addEventListener(FocusEvent.FOCUS_IN, onListFocusIn);
private function onListFocusIn(e:FocusEvent):void { _list.selectedIndex = 0; }
I have a movie placed on stage (on first frame of Timeline) and an Event.ENTER_FRAME EventListener inside the movie, when I click a button on stage that takes me to 2nd frame, I want to remove the Event Listener inside the movie. How can that be done.
I'm trying to create a fairly simple website entirely in flash. I have navigation on the left (Home, and Shapes) and when you click on Shapes, two things change: my main content called mcContent (which is a movieClip) changes to its second frame (called shapes) and you see a few shapes. Below the main content is another movieclip called mcBottom which does something similar, goes to it's second frame (called shapes) and you see two shapes, a red and green square.The problem is that I want the user to be able to click the red square and have the red square movieclip called mcRed go to it's second frame (called mcRedContent) but it doesn't work. I believe it has something to do with the hierarchy of my objects but I can't seem to figure it out. The error that I get when compiling is:Code:TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.at trouble_fla::mcBottom_4/frame1()Here is a link to the fla:
can i assign a keyboard eventlistener in a child swf inside of another swf? cause i know if a swf inside of swf still only have one stage. cause the parent swf just like a loader container, i want the child swf to have the keyboard event listener.
I have a movie placed on stage (on first frame of Timeline) and an Event.ENTER_FRAME EventListener inside the movie , when I click a button on stage that takes me to 2nd frame, I want to remove the Event Listener inside the movie. How can that be done.
What I deduce from this example is that the swfLoader.contentLoaderInfo and _ldrInfo = this.contentLoaderInfo refer to the same object in the same memory location. So you may think: "well the last added event will overwrite the first one (the internally one added). But it doesn't. The two event listeners will respond sequentially. First the internal listener and then the external listener.
I have an AS3 function that runs when a URLRequest fails. I need to be able to use this function to assign global variables that I can then check against using other functions. How do I assign global variables inside of a function?
Edit:This is the variable (soundFile2Exist) I am trying to get outside of my function:
function onIOError(e:IOErrorEvent):void { var soundFile2exist = null;[code]...............
I have a primary function that calls upon other functions, which call upon other functions, etc, each one creating different objects. I need to delete everything eventually and was thinking the easiest way to do this would be to have a global array to push() each object into. It would be easy to just put garbageArray.push(thisCreatedObject); into the for() loops of every function to grab all the objects so a deleteFunction() could just cycle through garbageArray to remove and null everything cleanly.
What I want to do:I could easily just create a global array to do this (code example 1), but I would prefer to be able to recreate this global array and delete it every time this primary function is called (code example 3) since it will be called upon a lot. It would be cleaner code to have it created from within the function as opposed to outside of it because I will have a lot of primary functions doing similar things that would require a global array like this.
I also know I could create one and simply pass it as an argument to every function (code example 2), but I would have to pass it to every single function. There are a lot of functions and a lot of calls to them, so this would require rewriting a lot of code and would be more work than it's worth. Making a global array outside of the function would be easier than doing this if it came down to it.
ActionScript Code: //example 1 of global array. No passing as argument from //primary to secondary functions. Multiple global arrays //required for multiple primary functions in the future.
I've been trying to get these variables that are defined inside this XML Array, outside of the XML array using _global, so that i can use them else where in the animation, but i'm not getting any purchase.
I have a .as file with a load of functions that i include using : include "myFunctions.as".They can be accessed alright.I have a custom class that extends movieclip, and i want to use a function inside that class that is located in my "myFunctions.as" file.How do i do that? Seems like the class loads before the myFunctions.as file so the functions are unavailable at this time. I get that error message :
I have some filters set up, and have assigned some global vars to them, which I then use in my Filters code to display the filters: myText:Filters [globals.data.glow1, globals.data.stroke1, globals.data.shad1] Works perfectly. Now I want to assign a global var to each global filter var to determine if it should be shown or not. So...
when i have this line active(the red one) it gives me automatic focus, so no clicking to be able to detect key input so i got that going for me which is nice BUT when i have it active(not commented out) i get this big yellow line which goes away when i click it(seeBelow)
I have a movie clip called "myMC". I set its x value as such:
[AS] var myMC:MovieClip = new MovieClip(); addChild(myMC); myMC.x = 100;
[Code]....
I know I could proboly acheive this with a math equation but is there a function that can get the exact global position of "myShape"? So that I can position another movieclip or sprite around that movieclip?
Is there any shortcut way to add an eventListener to something like a select event for NavigatorContent. I am aware I can add a listener for a change event on the ViewStack and identify the selected NavigatorContent through that handler.
The entire box at the top is a Flex application. The box on the left with the list of pinball machines is a VBox. As you can see, if you try to scroll with your mousewheel, it doesnt respond. The reason this is shut off is because I found that if it's turned on, when you scroll up/down, the whole page goes with it. So if you scroll down four or five times, the application goes out of sight.I tried finding a solution to this when I programmed this last year but wasnt able to find any answers.if there's a way to make Flex grab the focus of the mousewheel and not let the browser move as well?
I am working in air application , i need to know how to add event listener when any object is updated,how can i implement this.Example:i have Class name Vehicle, and child class are Car,Bus,Bikes,Scooter,..etc, child class also have many properties like color,model no,....etc
I have array collection and AddChild() method in Vehicle class by this, i will add, child class to the vehicle class.I need a event listener which can trigger if any of the property is updated or changed in any of the child class property, how can i implements this in Flex3.
I'm trying to remove an eventlistener on (in this specific case) a HorizontalList. The list is initialized with the property itemRollOver="playPreview(event)" I'd like to remove this eventListener by switching state and stating something like: <mx:SetEventHandler target="{horList}" name="itemRollOver" handlerFunction="null" />
This doesn't seem to work. The event is still handled and playPreview(event:ListEvent) is still called. How to properly do this? (I know I can do it in Actionscript, but I specifically want to do it by means of state switching)
I am using modules in flex, to build different parts of my webapp. What I need now, is a way these modules can communicate with each other on events. What really is happening is ,that there is a central module, which then will take care of loading other modules and passing data to and fro. But, coding for each part to delegate events to each of these loaded modules from the central module and back would be a big nightmare.
What I really want to do is have a global event bus for it. Are there any specific libraries, already existing for such a process. Also, I would be using MVC, so it should also take care between events form the model to the view and vice-a-versa.
Now after initialization i want to get the location of my textInput with respect to Application.I tried with with localToGlobal(PointofLocalCoridnate), then it is not giving the correct location of textInput.
