I have a <mx:Dissolve id="dissolveOut" ... /> Effect in an Flex page I'm working on, and I would like to reuse this effect in a <mx:Transition> sequence. Is there a way to call dissolveOut from MXML inside the Transition tag, or do I really just have to duplicate code?[code]
View 1 Repliesi have a flex app that transitions between 2 states with the toggle of a button. my issue is that the effect of fading only seems to work on the 2nd transition and after. However, for my first transition... going from State1 to studyState... there is no fade effect whatsoever, in fact the components in state1 disappear completely (the footer fills the empty gap where the "body" use to be) and then the flex recreates the studyState (without any fade refilling the "body" with components only in studyState). After this first transition however, going between studyState and State1 working COMPLETELY fine.. why does this happen and how can i make it so that crossfade works STARTING FROM THE VERY FIRST TRANSITION?[code]

Where's a good place to look besides say, flashkit?

View 3 RepliesI have MX and MX 2004. I'm building myself a website and I have a logo that's displayed in the center of the stage. I have 6 different colored logos. I would like the grey logo(main logo) to blur and jitter a little while blurred when it's moused-over. I would also like to create a transition so that when people view a different section (lets say the teal colored section) of my site, the grey logo will blur and jitter while blurred, but also fade/transition into the teal logo. purple for the purple section, etc... I know how to do fading tweens, however I don't know actionscript very well at all. part of it even if it all can't be done together. I'd like some version of this effect if possible.

I would like to be able to specify my own custom properties for the component as well as access the existing public subcomponent properties via MXML. I'm using a progress bar to let a user know how much more live streaming video data is to be buffered before it starts playing.Have that much working fine.Problem is, if the buffer gets used up, and I need to rebuffer, I can't seem to get the progress bar reset and visible again. Seems once it hits 100% on app start up it can't be reused.I'm catching the proper NetStream.netStatus events.The hook for the empty buffer is there and is executing.I'm just not seeing how I might redisplay and start a fresh bar there?
I've tried bar.visible = true and nothing appears.Also tried making a new one and setting visible each time the buffer is empty but no dice.Seems to just be ignored.
I have created a custom component that I am using, more conveniently, as a SkinnablePopUpContainer and I want to use the same function that calls and receives data from it for several Buttons in the UI. What is the best way to achieve this without having to create a new function for each button?

A Flex components values are initlized by init methord. In an application flow, How to refresh a mxml component data value ; as init is callled at the start up it self only.
eg. of mxml componet may be as simple as button label or text as complex as repeater whose data provider is a web service ( means a fresh quesy should be made to pull the data and refresh the dataprovider of repeater )
suppose i have 3 buttons(for example say, productin, marketing, sales ) on my main.mxml..once i click on one button it should take me to abc.mxml page with production data, once again if i click on second button it should take me to the same abc.mxml but with marketing data. same as for 3rd button also, how can i achieve this ?
View 2 RepliesI've been trying to create a custom mxml component that extends another custom mxml component (i.e.MyMXMLComponent -> BaseMXMLComponent -> Group). I've been reading that trying to add visual children to MyMXMLComponent caused error with Flex 3 but that's no longer the case with Flex 4.
What I want to know is whether this is a supported/fixed/documented feature of Flex 4? or just some undefined behavior in Flex 4 that may get changed with future updates?
if this is supported and documented feature, does anyone have link pointing to adobe document stating it as such?
This is a project I'm working on for a simple demo tutorial application in Flex. I am using mxml pages. You can see to the left that I will have my main application and then other mxml files (In the Examples Package) as the examples that will be loaded into the main application mxml. How can I dynamically pull the value from the object in the list to load the child mxml file into the container that I have further down in the application?

I am trying to transition slides with the behavior slide transition options. but I've learned that it works find while going into a slide and doesn't go to the next slide when leaving.So basically I want it so that on right arrow first play out transition then go to next slide.

I've created a search with a couple of comboboxes that allow users to filter their search results. The results are currently using a TileList & itemRenderer to display, and now I'd like to add an animation effect when the user filters their results. I know that you can use the itemsChangeEffect to create an animation effect when the user drags and moves result itmes. So I'd like to know if there's a way to create a similar effect triggered by the filtering on the comboboxes?
