I've searched a LOT, but dint get the solution to this: Is there a way to display flex notifications in Windows taskbar, ie, the notification should still be visible even if the application s not exactly frontmost in the monitor..There are ways to do this on AIR, or even flex4..but not Flex3??
View 1 RepliesI have a timer in my application. For every 30 min, it will hit the web services and fetch the data and updates the UI. The application was working fine till yesterday. Suddenly, because of some issue, the web services were not available for some time. During that period, Application displayed the RPC Error multiple times(More than 100 alert boxes) in alert window. Because of this alert boxes, my application was hanged and i was not able to do anything.
I have tried several approaches, but nothing worked.Finally, I have tried to use a flag. In all the approaches, this looked promising. so i have implemented it.Basically, in this approach whenever we open an alert we will set a flag.While opening and closing alert we will reset this flag.

I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:

All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.

I am familiar with flex and am hoping that i be able to use it for the application. But i can not figure out a way to play the file in flex. I have been able to play the file only in windows media player and that required the installation of three codecs : Mp4Audio.ax, Mp4Video.ax, Mp4Src.ax.
As i see it, it will be very convenient if i could embed a windows media player plugin in flex or i could specify the audio and video codecs in the flash player
I have a flex application (.swf) and want to create a projector file. When I choose File-> create projector I get the .app file because I work on a Mac. I know I can create both projector formats for windows and mac using the export feature in Flash Professional. But this is not an option since it's Flex.Is there any other way rather than switching to windows to create the file?

These applications can connect and send message to each other without a problem on Windows XP. I'm currently designing a flash web site for local viewing with animations and the like. This is being activated via the "active desktop" in display properties.I forgot how to point flash to open local exe files. ie PS or flash or whatever.. is it possible to have a flash made task bar that sits "on top" of everything else? Is there a way that I can get an AIR app to appear on screen (Always on top), but does not take up a spot on the taskbar? For example, Google desktop takes up part of your screen, but doesn't take up a tab at the bottom.
I'm using custom chrome as well, so how do I find out how much space the taskbar takes up dynamically? This doesn't necessarily have to work on Mac since I'm probably going to be the only one to use it.
I've followed the Adobe instrunctions on how to create an app without windows (link).
The gist is that you can do this by hiding or closing the original nativeWindow and creating a new one with theUTILITY or LIGHTWEIGHT property.
Unfortunately, when an application is launched more than once, the new nativeWindow is created again with each launch. This is highly undesirable.
I've tried setting variables with the launch of the application, but it seems like these are not accessible by the new instances of the application. The weird thing is: AIR apps are not supposed to have multiple intances (should be impossible)! And there actually is only one instance according to the windows task manager and the fact that there is only one systemtray icon.
In the PureMVC framework, Proxies communicate with the ApplicationFacade (and thus any interested components) via a Notification. Should this Notification be sent via their own instance, or the Singleton instance of the ApplicationFacade? Frankly, does it matter?

The second method looks more verbose and less intuitive to me. Moreover, the Proxy has the ability to send Notifications, which, in my mind, means it probably should. Are there instances where the Proxy should only send a Notification via the ApplicationFacade instance?
