Right now I'm us Flash CS4 and creating a flash program in AS3. After a certain frame the dynamic text boxes that I have set up refuse to display text when required. I've gone over every line of code and every possible set up and I can't understand why it will not work. I've made sure all the dynamic text boxes have the instance names properly in place naming them all "talkBox". I've made sure all the code is written properly talkBox.text = "Insert Text Here!" There should be absolutely no reason in the world why the dynamic text boxes shouldn't be working.

I have a password engine already made. But I got this idea of making 3 different passwords each time the game is being played. I already achieved to set these 3 password and the Input textbox accepts them. The thing is when the game ends, it give a password for another game. I want to set that dynamic text box that give you the password to randomly shows one of the 3 passwords I've set. So, how do I make a function that everytime the game is being played,set a different text on the dynamic text box, from one of the 3 passwords I've set?

I am having a hard time getting special characters such to show up in my text fields...I am trying to use IMPACT font and the texts tweens larger when the user mouses over it...and tweens back to normal when you mouse off...now I noticed that when I do not embed any characters...they will show up...but the tweening looks so bad and grainy...but when I embed the Upper Case, Lower Case, Numbers, and Punctuation those characters disappear...is there another set that I should be choosing to embed those special characters? Or do I have to manually enter those in?

The only way I can fix it is if I have a decimal instead of a whole number, but I have the variable of the health in a text box to display the players current health and it doesn't look to good with a decimal number.So, I am wondering if there is a way to make the health decrease by a decimal, but show a whole number in the textbox.[code]
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to set the rotation of an object via an input textbox for debugging purposes. Currently I have the object working when it changes rotation automatically. A variable is reset every few seconds to a random number between -180 and +180 and then the rotation of the object changes to match the variable. However different things are meant to happen when the rotation variable is set at varying degrees so I rehashed the code so that instead of being a random number it responds to the variable in an input textbox.
Now... I set up the input textbox with the variable, and a dynamic textbox to show me the rotation set for the object. however every time I enter a variable in the input textbox the set-rotation changes to "Undefined". Am I supposed to add some kind of a "Submit entered number" button somehow. In the past when I have used input textboxes the number is processed automatically.
E.g.. dynamic textbox is 5*variable.
Enter #number. As you type input- the number appears inside the dynamic textbox
I even added a longer delay. The number in the dynamic textbox IS CHANGED with no resulting change in the rotation of the object. As the time countdown loop comes to a close (After every 9 seconds set rotation to input box) the text instantly changes to "Undefined".
While I'm just a beginner right now it/I'm an experienced computer user and I have really enjoyed/but when I'm looking at it now I'm trying to use flash to edit a website template, for example monster templates. I bought a template from the site and nine trying to edit it now and well it just seems like it's a very very long process to do something kind of where I just want to look at the page and I want to edit the text and only I go to bed doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll show you what I mean.
When I'm using the program and I'm in Adobe flash I'm looking now at the screen inside the program and there's no text I see the graphics images and there's no text and also is that some type of way where it's easy to navigate link to link where I can just edit the text what supposed to be in there rather than search for the funeral push page up and down until I come across just a white background with tax and then have to edited which is pretty confusing because I don't know where that's located but I the general idea that if you change it but surely there must be an easier way.
So basically I'm including a screenshot that shows you exactly what I'm talking about. Basically once again I'm in fashion items Sandy text so it's kinda hard to see what was going on or whatever so you can see the snow text located in the thing but however when I publish the file yeah you can see the text and everything I'm kinda looking for some type of you well be able to see this and just edited really. I know there are other programs out there like SWF edited her or quick note to some like that. But I really wanted to use flash, unexperienced Photoshop user and I really love all Adobe products and I really think that this is the master program to use however I'm really don't want it as of right now it's been about 40 days and nine still a bit lost navigating through the program will I'm just really just China entities tax bills and just go through the site. Now I realize I should have the respect for beautiful program like this and it's not been a be set up to the way that I'm hoping it Siskind be a point-and-click editor I understand that. I'm just wondering if anybody has any type suggestions or perhaps of I'm missing something which is fantastic.
In my flex datagird i have a checkbox and a datgrid with seven columns. im populating values in first five column(remaining two column no values) of datgrid by an Arraycollection. now,By clicking the checkbox i want to show all seven column values and if i uncheck five columns has to show... how its possible?? heres my code

I'm developing a flex application with 4 tabs. When the user switches a tab I want to reset the previous tab to its initial state. Also I need to alert the user, if he hasn't saved the changes he made if any, will be lost.I'm planning to set a variable in the Model, and set/reset it if any change happens in a field under a tab. But how do I monitor this? Is there any listener available for this?Also how do I check and reset the state of the previous tab? The contents that come under the tab is from components only.
How do I check if the user has made any edits in the current tab? Some fields are generated dynamically too.I'm calling a function in the onchange event of TabNavigator and asks the user if he really want to switch the tab.I want the other tab to load its contents only if the user clicks Yes to the Alert box I'm popping up. But now the confirmation box pops up, and the contents are loaded into the other tab and if the user clicks No it goes back to the other tab. How do I prevent the action of loading the contents of the other tab at all till the user presses Yes?
I'm using Flex 3.5, BlazeDS 3.2.0.3978 and EJB3 for backend. There are two RPC which are important to the problem. The first call will get a list of ThirdParty objects, this works fine. The second call happens when the user clicks on a ThirdParty, the details of this object (lazy collections) are retrieved. A single object is returned with most fields serialized. I say most, because for some reason, 4 boolean fields are not serialized and are put on false by flex by default.[code]I've set blazeDS logging to debug and all fields but these booleans are shown in the output. Next, I've tried stepping through the serialization process but it's fairly easy to get lost in there.

In the following working example the list's selected index is supposed to reset to 0 whenever the text box changes. However, for some odd reason every other keystroke the selected item disappears and then reappears at the subsequent keystroke.

I am trying to display content of xmllistcollection in different fields in my datagrid however unless I use an itemrenderer the value is not displaying in the grid. The xmllistcollection is populated from a webservice call. Inside my item renderer i use a custom namesspace to retrieve contents from the xmllistcollection

However if I try something like

In the datagrid without using an item renderer I get no data output.
