Here is the problem. I've created custom RectangularBorder and set it as border skin for TitleWindow. After this manipulation inner content of window is starting at 0,0 point of it. How could I set offset of it?
Just setting top padding does not work because scroll bar still begins from the top of the window after this manipulation.

View 2 RepliesWe have a Flex application which is build against the 3.3 SDK. It has been in production for more than a year without any problems, till yesterday. We got a bug report yesterday that some content is invisible which prevents the user from completing an assignment. I looked into the problem and I have narrowed it down to Flash Player 11. Unfortunately it got me no closer to solving the problem.The part of the application that is giving problems is a separate .SWC which is loaded in a SWFLoader object. This is placed on a Canvas which in turn is shown to the user via the PopupManager.This is what it looks like when I view it in FireFox 10.0.2 with Flash Player 10,0,45,2 (click for image).
And this is what it looks like when I view it with Flash Player 11,1,102,62 in Chrome 17.0.963.56 (click for image)As you can see I am missing the checkboxes, two buttons and the checkpoint in the middle. The checkpoints drops in from the top of the screen and sometimes you can see parts of it. It looks like there is something invisible on top of this. In the Flash Player 11 version I am able to click on the checkboxes that are invisible and this does trigger the expected behavior so I know the mouse clicks are handles properly. Same goes for the buttons 'Vorige' (previous) and 'Volgende' (next), even though you can't see them I can still navigate between states.I have check if disabling the hard acceleration in Flash Player 11 made a difference but unfortunately it didn't. I also thought it could be the preloader that is blocking out part of the screen but the position seems all wrong and I am not having any problems with other external .SWC files that are presented to the user.

View 1 RepliesI've just start working on a project whereby the site will be entirely in flash, have a nav panel down one side, and a content panel down the other. I want some subtle animations on the content as each page is selected (either scroll or fade out) but as each page will have a different background, I'm not sure what the best way to do this is.
My current thinking, would be to put all the 'pages' in one movie clip, animated with each having a fadein, then stop, then a fade out. When a link is pressed, it would play until it encounters a 'stop' (hence, the fadeout frames), then jump to the fade in animation for the link that was clicked.With being new to Flash though, I just thought a) I'd check to see if this is the given way to do this, or if there is a better, standard way, and b) if anyone can give me any tips on coding it. I would imagine it would be onPress(function), then the two instructions?.
I'm extending a Panel to build a custom component. Without knowing what this will contain later, how can I add a method to temporarily hide all contents and displaying an internal object (which is normally invisible) instead?

I am writing an custom component in Flex 3.2 that extends the panel component. After a user performs a certain action I would like to hide the main content area in the Panel component, as well as the Control Bar if one is specified. Any ideas on how to do this? controlBar.visible does not seem to hide the control bar, and I don't know of another easy way of accessing the main content area besides iterating through all the children of the main panel, and I would like to avoid that if possible.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to create a simple banner ad where the mouse hovers over the button and a panel shows up over some content of the site.[URL]I have two different .swfs: the container, which is the button and a loaded swf that has the animation that comes up when the button is clicked. The button is only 183 x 40px where as the loaded swf is 183 x 160px.When the loader swf is loaded, it takes the dimensions of the button.
Is there a way to have the loader swf be its original dimensions, so when the mouse hovers over the button, the loader swf covers some of the content on the Web site?Also, how can I change the MouseEvent to load the SWF when the mouse is only over the button and not clicking?

Pretty basic, I can handle this.
Trouble is, this customer would like this popup to be looking as a Fancybox, that is, with the close button, slightly out of the popup.
I'm having a hard time removing some type of shadow in a button control. Here's the button:
The button that's giving me trouble is the "zoomer" one. As you can see, the borders are not straight. I assume that there's some kind of gradient/shadow or sth that's inherited from the default skin.

I want to create Flash button that I can use for a dynamic menu.
To do this I have create a new symbol in my Flash project as a button. My button has 2 layers: * one layer with the graphics for the diffrent states (up, down, over, clic) * one layer with a dynamic text control
A have assign a variable name to the dynamic text (menuCaption).
When I put the button on my main scenario, I can change the caption of my menu item with: menuCaption = "some text";
Now I want to add many items to my menu barre, but all items a modified when I assign menuCaption to a value
What do I do wrong? What must I do to be able to assign each item separatly like <item_name>.menuCaption ="some text" ?
I have a few Skinnable Containers that have children components, such as an image component or a button bar etc. It seems that when I add the skin, the Skinnable container looks great, but all my children components of that container seem to disappear.
Example:

In the above example, the Skin works just fine, but the image contained within the SkinnableContainer will disappear.
If my understanding of Flex is correct, skins in Flex are just DisplayObjects that are added as children to UIComponents to create the visual representation of the object. But if my understanding of the Flash event model is correct, if there is a non-transparent DisplayObject on top of another, mouse events will go to the topmost DisplayObject. The overlapped DisplayObject won't receive any mouse input.
So how is it that skinned Flex UIComponents work at all?
I just downloaded Flash CS5 for mac which installed without any errors. However, when I first launched the software I am getting the following error: The following panel layout is missing or could not be read: /users/rob/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS5.5/en_US/Configuration/Workspace/Essentials.xml The application will not have a correct layout. load one from Windows ->Workspace Once past this message none of the panels load.

This does not happen with the mx Panel.unning Flex 4.1 on Windows 7I tried putting mx and spark controls in the spark Panel, and they both appear outside of the boundaries. I've traced the PopUpManager, but I didn't find any available interfaces or events about popup window's moving, I think it's design shouldn't be so bad.
Does anyone knows of a way to get the output panel in flash or the console panel in flex builder or flash builder, to format the "traces" with html or any thing else? for example:

so I'm working on an app requiring me to lay some simple HTML as multicolumn text, and hacking around w/ g.skinner's old regexp method of reflowing as3 TextFields. I'll be happy to share this code if I can get it working. No desire to get into screwing with text.engine at this point, and this has to be back compatible to FP9 anyway.
So I'm back-and-forth parsing from likely break points to determine if we're in a tag here, and jump ahead to the end of it if we are. The ridiculous issue I'm up against is simply that there doesn't seem to be a TextField method for getting the htmlText offset -- NOT the visible text offset -- of a character. Is there a way to do that?

This, theoretically, should work perfectly! However, there is an offset (and one I did NOT set, mind you!) of about 16 between the hsSlot1's visual position (where it appears to start on the screen) and hsSlot1.x. There is a similar offset on the y axis, but I haven't measured it yet.The only thing I can think of for this is that hsSlot1 is an instance of a button (one with only one state at that) that was scaled to fit. However, I don't think that is it, because the numbers show that the entire object is merely offset at its current size.
im trying to actionscript a simple animation where a combination of MC's move towards areas on the screen triggred by mouse events.What would be the best way of gradually ofsetting a MC, with the control to stop them with further mouse events.I have used tweens (example below) but i need to be able to stop them mid tween, i have tried using if statement to stop the clip but i cant seem to overide the tween.I have limited experience but im guessing a time based loop that i could supply an if statement withbooleons would be my answer. I'm developing a tool that a variety of noobs (as if I'm not still a noob) will be using, and I don't trust them to keep art with 0,0 being the top left corner.
How do I figure out that the left edge is now at -111px, and the top at -52, and the right at 12, and the bottom at 334?
Or what if they draw it so the left edge is at 56px and the right edge at 583?
Essentially, I want to determine the center of my artwork, wherever it is relative to the center of the MC

I have your basic clock functioning and give the users the ability to select their clock offset and store both the offset Hours and the Minutes in separate variables... I've ran into a weird problem with getCharBoundaries, I could not figure out what coordinate space the coordinates returned from the function was in. What ever I tried I could not get it to match up with what I expected. So I made a new project and and added simple code to highlight the last charater in a textfield, and all of a sudden it worked fine. I then tried to copy over the TextField that had been causing me problems, into the new project. And now the same weird offset appeared 50px on the x axis.Everything else was spot on. So after some headscracthing comparing the two TextFields, I simply can not see a difference in their properties or transformation.
So I was hoping that someone might now what property might affect the coordinates returned by getCharBoundaries.
