I'm working with a swf file (a simple flash movie) and I am trying to get it to loop. I've tried setting loop="true" in the embed tag, and for the object.
Does this mean that the problem is in the swf file itself?
I have a .swf file that is not looping although I have added the parameter to do so. It plays just the once, and at the end of the video it stops instead of looping.

I was reading about Flex- JavaScript communication via ExternalInterface.But I had a doubt, it said that the javascript code should be written in the HTML file of the application ? Now which is this HTML file ? Is it the index.template.html file per project or the HTML file created per MXML application ?
View 3 RepliesI am streaming an FLV as an intro video for a website. This intro video contains two HTML buttons (login + enter) overlayed using a transparent DIV. The client has specifically asked for the video to loop if the user clicks on "login" as they will need additional time to enter their details. However, if the user doesn't click on anything then they want the site to automatically carry on to the homepage. My question is: How do I get the HTML to communicate these conditions to my FLV player that is streaming the intro video? This is AS3.0.
View 19 RepliesI am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
a:link {text-decoration: none;}
a:active {text-decoration: none;}
a:visited {text-decoration: none;}[code]....
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.

I have several movie clips in my scene and in the last movie clip, in the "actions" layer, in the last frame, I put "gotoAndPlay(1);" hoping that this would make the file loop over and over.
Instead, I get a error message:
1120: Access of undefined property social_media_mc.

View 6 RepliesI'm having a problem with my onPress actions when reading them form an XML file. Here's what I'm trying to do: Read xml file: duplicate movie clip according to how many xml items there are. Place a different onPress action to each movie clip according to what the corresponding path is in the xml. My problem is that each time I press any movieclip I always get the last path in the xml file. The loop is over writing the value and when the onPress function is called it uses the last value. How do I get the onPress to remember which movie clip it is and use the appropriate onPress action?

In my case the problem is I have flash map, and drop down menu on top of it.

An XML file (header-messages.xml) contains one line per message, and also a hyperlink, see example below

I am trying to find a workaround to the problem of looping mp3 files, basically the silence in the transition (from end to start). I could use wav files but I need to load the file externally, which makes not possible to use wav. So I did this

Edit: Now I know it is not a problem of flash, it is problem of the mp3 format itself.
How can I stop my Logo.swf file from looping. Actually the external Logo.swf file doesn't contain any looping code inside it. If I open it in any flash player it animates only one time. Writing "stop();" in code stops all other animations which I don't want.

I don't want to make different htm file, neither put a button on flash(ie on click...). I just want after a few seconds and after the flash has ended, the flash will go away and the page will appear.

View 1 RepliesIve created a banner ad in AS 1.0-2.0. The ad can only loop 4 times then it must stop. The following code does this at frame 170. The timeline is 170 frames in length, and this code is keyframed on an actions layer on frame 170 - however, I'd like the final stopped flash swf file to occur at frame 155. I can't just put this code on frame 155 - it skips a whole section of animation (from frames 155 to 170) that I want to keep in the loops.

I'm building an Air application (straight AS3 no flex) that embeds and displays a .swf file. [code]Not only does this not add the .swf file to the display list like I want it to but it seems to run over and over again. "hello" fills up the output window from the trace statement like it's running every frame.The code loads a .jpg just fine so it must be a problem specific to flash files. I would think I would get some kind of security error if there was a conflict not this strange looping constructor. Does anybody have any ideas what is causing this behavior?So I think what was happening is that because both flash files shared the same application domain and they both had "Main.as" as the main class file it was running the constructor over and over again.I've updated my code above to show my unsuccessful attempts to load the external .swf with a different application domain.

I have a application developed in flex deployed on server. In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

The map works with if I use the .html file in my original folder but all the paths are relative and I'm trying to make this work in an ASP.NET MVC project using visual studio. It's rather tough to explain the problem since I don't know what's wrong (no javascript or flash debugger).Here is the code that embeds the ammap:

Let me give the context first. A user opens a local html file which has a reference to a network url of an swf file to embed.
(1) If the embed swf requests a local image file , will Flash allow the request?
(
2) If the embed swf requests an image file on a non local url other than one of the swf file, will Flash check a crossdomain.xml file on the url?

This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
