Is it possible to play a media file which is outside the webroot using the Jquery Media Plugin. The server that we are on is windows based. The file path for example is:
serversharemusic.mp3
In my testing so far it does not seem possible.
I use jquery.flash() plugin to embed flash into my website. The problem is that in IE6 this doesn't work. I tried swfobject (1.5), also, but it gives me (sometimes) some strange errors with n null or something like that, so I decided to use jquery.flash() also. (I use both swfobject and jquery.flash() now)
So, basically, swfobject works but gives me that strange error sometimes (all browsers), so NOT all my flash banners work, and jquery.flash() WORKS in all other browsers, except IE6.

As we know we can't $.show/$.hide to show/hide the flash component,which will cause the flash player to redraw it. Is there a flexible component that can hide/show flash components with redraw them?

Im the new kid on the block so I apologyze if I'm not doing very well.Everything works fine till the moment in which I set the wmode param of the flash movie to transparent, then the movie completely disappears (it loads, as I can listen at the sounds) but it doesn't show.I would like to have a full background image with the transparent flash movie over it, that's all, if somebody can tell me how to fix this or even a new way to do it, it will be so good!!Here is my code, so simple, by the way:

I have installed FMS and we are evalauating it as a streaming server.If I understand the documentation correctly, all the media files for streaming need to be stored in this directory:
/..../applications/vod/media
However, if I want the file to be available (downloadable) over http, it needs to be located under webroot.
..../webroot/
why can't I just create a symbolic link in .../webroot/media to point at .../ applications/ vod/media.In general, we'd like to make every file streamable and downloadable.My thinking is, the sym link allow us to not have to upload every file to two places.
I need to create a splash page type thing. It needs to play a flash movie and then when that movie has finished show a full screen image using html/js. THe movie will be flash and the image display will be javascript powered.

Since I changed Apache conf to use port 80 I assume my video root will be under webroot/vod, webroot/dvrcast_origin, etc, right?I don't see the dvrcast_origin or livepkgr folders under the webroot though. Do I just need to copy them under webroot for it work properly?
View 1 RepliesI've been sent a swf file for a banner that needs to be linked to a url. I am adding this to my client's website and my client has been sent the swf and javascript to add to the page. The problem is that the javascript code is overly complex, and I'm wanting to use Jquery and Unobtrusive Flash Objects (I've not yet updated to swfobject on this site). Can I use Jquery and/or UFO (or indeed swfobject if I have to upgrade) to make the swf file link to an external url (preferably loading in a new tab/window)?

The player should be invisible one-pixel object that interacts with javascript. When i'm calling javascript functions from within flash objects (using ExternalInterface.call()) it works fine.

What are the difference between using an AJAX or JQuery upload plugin vs. using a Flash upload plugin for browser uploads, especially as it relates to the uploading of very large fies (1-2GB). Is there any reason to go with one over the other?

View 5 RepliesI'm using the jQuery oembed plugin to display videos from a Vimeo feed. The only problem is they display over the top of my navigation menu. I have tried setting the z-index of the menu but this makes no difference. A common suggestion seems to be to set the wmode parameter to transparent or opaque. However, passing this as a parameter to the oembed function makes no difference.

I've looked high and low for an answer to this and I'm hoping someone has an answer, or at least a tip on how to avoid it.I'm loading a static HTML file into a container via the jQuery load() method. This static HTML file has a script which loads a swf. When I load that particular file, I get the white screen of death (WSOD) and the page explodes and everyone in the room dies a horrible death.I've had this happen also when using the jQuery wrap methods (wrap, wrapOuter, etc.) when a swf is present.It seems manipulating the DOM with a container that has a swf object causes this. Does anyone have a solution or a way that I can prevent it happening?
View 1 RepliesWe all know that it's impossible to do native print in a browser that bypasses the browser's print dialog, however, we have the need to do a direct print, ideally where we could also select a particular printer, and other settings programmatically.
I know that ActiveX plug-ins exist that do this, however, we all know that ActiveX plug-ins only work in IE. Is there an existing plug-in, either in Flash or Silverlight that allows us to programmatically set printer properties and then direct print without opening the browser's native dialog?
I've noticed (a few months ago, actually) that in most browsers I use to test my application (Firefox, chrome and explorer) the flash plug in, while playing it's content, will stop, or freeze, when the actual plug in playback window is out of the window (due to scrolling, or switching tabs), or covered by another window (a different browser or program window that will cover the visible area of the player), which is something good, and nice, when you think about web pages full of commercials slowing down your browser and computer in general, but what happens when you a games programmer, who work with multiplayer games, on games which are mostly turn based? If one of my players switches tabs, open a new window over the browser, or god forbids, scroll down the page, the game is essentially stopped, since no events occur on that players side of the game!! And this does not effect just simple frame based animation, but everything, onEnterFrame events stop, setInterval stops... the only thing that I could find that does not stop when this happens is a setInterval action done in a different swf, which is loaded to a different level of my game file.

Here is the XUL code for the embedding:

Without the html:embed, the window opens without problems, but as soon as I change that, firefox crashes without warning or something, it just disappears from the process bar. The .swf file works properly when I open it from my operating system (its windows 7 64 bit) and is coded in as3.
I have a web page that uses javascript counters to count user "active" time, meaning the time a user spends viewing this page (and not some other page). I do this by starting/stopping them using the [URL].. However, when the user clicks on a plugin inside the same page (flash, java, etc), the window loses focus and window.onblur is fired. Is there a way to tell that the user is still on my page?

Now I want to play a small chime but I don't want to make the site dependent on Flash. It is just a chime to indicate a new chat, so it is not a huge stumbling block but I would like to find a way.
Is this possible - I am guessing no since you need something local to play the sound

I know I can decompile it to find out all the commands and would like to make scripts to automate the game by calling procedures in the actionscript of the game. So I guess I would like to make a plugin also that would insert this console into any flash app and this would be handy for a lot of things. Then if anyone wants to hack a new game, u just decompile it and make a handbook of methods for people to make scripts with. So how would I go about making this console? I don't know if I could make a swf interact with the game or if it has to be compiled into the game's swf. Or if it is easier with javascript, that is cool too. maybe we can make a javascript library just for this. anyone can tell me more?

The script opens a flash swf file in a "popup" lightbox fashion and plays it either from youtube or via a player locally.I was however wondering if it was possible to create a secondary swf to float on top of the player (noting that this of course would have the wmode:"transparent") and hereby create an opening curtain effect revealing the first swf and the player. I've been trying for quite some time now to load the top clip via createSWF and to create an additional div to contain it and float it using absolute position however I can't seem to get it right.. I know that the div float perfectly on top of each other when using:

Allright, so i'm searching for information on how to write plugins for FMLE 3.0, the reason is that i need to extend some functionality regarding the metadata injections. So, does anyone here know of an API/Framework/SDK like paper that is a good place to start reading? Any input will be welcome, except "nay sayers" because i know it's possible to make plugins, ive seen one or two out there, just dont know where to start.
PS. I have plenty experience in writing DLL's for windows applications, but i would rather refrain from reverse-engineering FMLE to use windows hooks and insert dll's at run/loadtime, would rather have a more or less "intentional" framework to work with.
