View 5 RepliesWhat are the difference between using an AJAX or JQuery upload plugin vs. using a Flash upload plugin for browser uploads, especially as it relates to the uploading of very large fies (1-2GB). Is there any reason to go with one over the other?
View 2 RepliesIm the new kid on the block so I apologyze if I'm not doing very well.Everything works fine till the moment in which I set the wmode param of the flash movie to transparent, then the movie completely disappears (it loads, as I can listen at the sounds) but it doesn't show.I would like to have a full background image with the transparent flash movie over it, that's all, if somebody can tell me how to fix this or even a new way to do it, it will be so good!!Here is my code, so simple, by the way:
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#background").fullBg();

I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?
I am creating an upload tool for an image gallery. The swf uploads the files with filereference to a php files which resizes the images. But when the images are larger than 600kb it fails, php runs out of memory and I can't edit the php.ini file on the server.
So my solution is to resize the images before uploading them, this saves also bandwidth.
I use jquery.flash() plugin to embed flash into my website. The problem is that in IE6 this doesn't work. I tried swfobject (1.5), also, but it gives me (sometimes) some strange errors with n null or something like that, so I decided to use jquery.flash() also. (I use both swfobject and jquery.flash() now)
So, basically, swfobject works but gives me that strange error sometimes (all browsers), so NOT all my flash banners work, and jquery.flash() WORKS in all other browsers, except IE6.
The website is [URL]
Do sites like facebook resize images before upload to save bandwidth?... or do they just get resized remotely, beause when i try and do it using gd library i have the problem that images wiht large dimenions timeout, whatever memeroy limit i set..
View 4 RepliesAs we know we can't $.show/$.hide to show/hide the flash component,which will cause the flash player to redraw it. Is there a flexible component that can hide/show flash components with redraw them?

View 1 RepliesI'm using the jQuery oembed plugin to display videos from a Vimeo feed. The only problem is they display over the top of my navigation menu. I have tried setting the z-index of the menu but this makes no difference. A common suggestion seems to be to set the wmode parameter to transparent or opaque. However, passing this as a parameter to the oembed function makes no difference.
View 3 RepliesI want to embed a flash to my site, that allows the user to paste an image which is in clipboard, and this images will then be uploaded to the server. Is there a script that can do that? i googled for about an hour now, but didn't find anything that fits my needs.
the best thing would be if you also coul crop your image when its uploaded and then save it.
it's most likely to upload screenshots, so that you don't have to first save it, crop it, and then upload it.
has anyone gotten this [URL]..to work with aps.net mvc 3? I can't seem to decode the image, using the WebImage class or BitmapImage. I've tired to do this with Silverlight, but I'm really unsure on how to upload the image. I do not need to save the image, I just want to process it, what im really looking to do is read a bar-code via web app.
I just can't seem to find a good guide to uploading an image from Silverlight or flash to my MVC app.
Why do people use flash when uploading files, same thing can be achieved by normal upload box?URL...Using asp.net is it possible to get upload progress without using flash?
View 1 RepliesIt's with a Flash overlay that has been custom made to overlap a .flv video running in Flowplayer (open source video player at flowplayer.org) The Flash overlay is mostly transparent and just includes a few buttons over top the video to allow visitors to share, email and visit a related website. Take a look here for example:[URL]
The video and Flash buttons work fine when videos are played within Flowplayer at normal size in the browser, but when making it fullscreen using Flowplayer, the Flash overlay plugin does not resize to fullscreen with it. Then, when made regular size again it gets distorted, as you can see from the example.
I know it might involve creating a custom onResize() function, but I haven't figured this out yet with Flowplayer. There are vague instructions & snippets of code here under "Layout management" section on flowplayer . org/documentation/developer/writing-flash-plugins.html
Code:
override public function onResize():void {
/*
set _childButton width according to my new width,
[Code]....
Interesting, but doesn't tell me much of what to do. I have a feeling it might involve making a new .as class in Flash and associating it to the custom buttons overlay .swf. On the right track?
get the overlay to resize using onResize and what code should be used would be very helpful. Others may be also trying to make custom overlay plugins too, and the fullscreen issue would be the next step to know after that and make it look more complete.
I'm trying to write a simple flash mp3 player while using JQuery and it's SWF Object plugin.I'm adding an swf to the page using this code:
$("body").append("<div id='player_external' style='position:absolute;top:0;left:0;height:1px;width:1px;>/div>");$('#player_external').flash({swf:"player_external.swf",wmode:"transparent",height:1,width:1,AllowScriptAccess:"always"});
The player should be invisible one-pixel object that interacts with javascript. When i'm calling javascript functions from within flash objects (using ExternalInterface.call()) it works fine.

having a problem while resizing a flash object using jquery in Safari only on the following site:[URL]..When you navigate around I call javascript events when the flash object needs to change height and when that happens there is a quick flash where everything goes crazy and then it goes back to normal. I'm trying to make an upload function in this website I'm working on, but till now no succes.
I tried using Plupload, but can't get it to work. Same goes for Uploadify, can't find any tutorial or good explanation in how to install these plugins in your webpage. use multiple upload tool I can easily implement in the page?
Creating a jQuery slideshow comprised of several images with transitions is easy. But I'm trying to have a Flash animation (SWF) stand in for one of the items in the slide show. In other words, I'd like to see transitions between the following: We've tried several of the jQuery slideshow plug-ins, but the Flash animation doesn't play well -- for example, if we use a simple dissolve transition, the Flash never disappears
View 1 Repliesan answer here opening swf files using WebKit framework says the following about running SWF movies inside WebView inside Cocoa application: "because the Flash plug-in is not garbage-collection supported, the plug-in won't work if your application uses garbage collection".
Meanwhile, an answer here Flash AS3 animation in Mac vs Windows discusses Flash garbage collection on Mac (likely in Safari) and says that it sucks but it does exist.
So is the first claim about no garbage collection in WebView false or is the WebView plugin distinct from Safari plugin?
I'm developing a drawing application in flash and I want that when a user has finished his drawing, he can upload the file to a server.

View 2 RepliesI need to make a form that allows the user to upload an image from their own computer, then dump that loaded image into a movie clip, and allow them to move it about on stage, and possibly scale it. I have the upload function working, it allows me to select a file, and i have the server side php to dump the images on the server, but im not sure how to go about dumping the image in the movie clip after the usser has selected and uploaded it. Ive found stuff around the net that dumps the file into a scroll pane, but im not really sure how to modify the code to work with a movie clip. I think dragging and resizing will be cake after that, because theyre functions ive used before. But i just cant seem to get past this upload hurdle.
View 4 RepliesI am starting flashagain after a long time and found a good simple flash slide show action script.

I am creating a website where people can upload images to my server.
These are then downloaded by a seperate flash file.
Is it better to resize the images using Flash or PHP?
I have tried a php resize script, but the images seem to lose quite a lot of thier quality.
Where as flash it looks a bit better, when I just resize them using _xscale
Also I have the problem, it would be nice it people could upload whatever size (memory or dimensions) image they want then php resizes it and it's all good.
As in Flash I may have to be downloading huge image size, which slow down the transfer..
However I don't want to lose the images quality and I suck at PHP but I'm okay in AS.
