Actionscript 3 :: JQuery SWF Object Plugin And ExternalInterface?

I'm trying to write a simple flash mp3 player while using JQuery and it's SWF Object plugin.I'm adding an swf to the page using this code:

The player should be invisible one-pixel object that interacts with javascript. When i'm calling javascript functions from within flash objects (using ExternalInterface.call()) it works fine.

Im the new kid on the block so I apologyze if I'm not doing very well.Everything works fine till the moment in which I set the wmode param of the flash movie to transparent, then the movie completely disappears (it loads, as I can listen at the sounds) but it doesn't show.I would like to have a full background image with the transparent flash movie over it, that's all, if somebody can tell me how to fix this or even a new way to do it, it will be so good!!Here is my code, so simple, by the way:

has anyone gotten this [URL]..to work with aps.net mvc 3? I can't seem to decode the image, using the WebImage class or BitmapImage. I've tired to do this with Silverlight, but I'm really unsure on how to upload the image. I do not need to save the image, I just want to process it, what im really looking to do is read a bar-code via web app.
I just can't seem to find a good guide to uploading an image from Silverlight or flash to my MVC app.

I use jquery.flash() plugin to embed flash into my website. The problem is that in IE6 this doesn't work. I tried swfobject (1.5), also, but it gives me (sometimes) some strange errors with n null or something like that, so I decided to use jquery.flash() also. (I use both swfobject and jquery.flash() now)
So, basically, swfobject works but gives me that strange error sometimes (all browsers), so NOT all my flash banners work, and jquery.flash() WORKS in all other browsers, except IE6.

What are the difference between using an AJAX or JQuery upload plugin vs. using a Flash upload plugin for browser uploads, especially as it relates to the uploading of very large fies (1-2GB). Is there any reason to go with one over the other?

Is it possible to play a media file which is outside the webroot using the Jquery Media Plugin. The server that we are on is windows based. The file path for example is:

Im trying to use JS to send data to my Flash AS2.0 music player with ExternalInterface, except there are no good tutorials or guides on ExternalInterface that I can find. I want to be able to change the current song in the player by clicking a JavaScript link, and on page / window load without clicking, play a default song.
I dont need a super complicated answer on loading sounds in flash, etc., I am just having a lot of difficulties getting JS to send anything to Flash, and when I get that to work - would I need to put some if / else into the flash to determine if the link has been clicked or not?

I have a swf that opens up inside a colorbox window. When the video finishes playing, I make an externalinterface call to a javascript function to close the colorbox.I'm trying to execute the following AS3 code:
ExternalInterface.call('parent.$.fn.colorbox.close()')
I can't seem to get this to work. The colorbox won't close.I also tried this to see if I was just making the wrong function call, but this didn't work either: ExternalInterface.call ('alert("hello world")')However, if I browse to the url of the swf file, so that it doesn't open inside the colorbox, the alert() call works just fine.

As you can tell by the title, I am having some trouble with AS3 ExternalInterface and jQuery / swfobject.

It's giving the first alert ('init') but then not doing the last one. I'm completely baffled and hope someone can point out my mistakes! (there's bound to be a massively obvious one somewhere)

I'm using the jQuery oembed plugin to display videos from a Vimeo feed. The only problem is they display over the top of my navigation menu. I have tried setting the z-index of the menu but this makes no difference. A common suggestion seems to be to set the wmode parameter to transparent or opaque. However, passing this as a parameter to the oembed function makes no difference.

I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?

an answer here opening swf files using WebKit framework says the following about running SWF movies inside WebView inside Cocoa application: "because the Flash plug-in is not garbage-collection supported, the plug-in won't work if your application uses garbage collection".
Meanwhile, an answer here Flash AS3 animation in Mac vs Windows discusses Flash garbage collection on Mac (likely in Safari) and says that it sucks but it does exist.
So is the first claim about no garbage collection in WebView false or is the WebView plugin distinct from Safari plugin?

The "modern" updated way to embed a flash object, according to Adobe:

Then it works on Firefox and Chrome (the AS function is called and works properly) - (it doesn't work in IE though). How come it doesn't work with an object tag? How "safe" it is to use the embed tag instead of the object tag? Is it not obsolete? Note, that it is definitely not a timing issue - If I call the AS function from JS from an onclick function - then the results are the same.

regarding DOM object name/id updates by JavaScript, and accessing them from flash. Let me explain.
I have made an actionscript that tests if externalinterface.objectid is null. If it is, I call a JavaScript that gives names/id to all unnamed shockwawe-type <EMBED> and <OBJECT> tags.
My problem is that, although the Javascript does what it is supposed to, the SWF's ExternalInterface.objectID property remains null.
In other words, although the DOM is properly updated, that update is not propagated to the ExternalInterface object.
- Is this normal ?
- Can I "reconsctruct" the ExternalInterface object to have it updated too ?
- Could I have my SWF reload itself, and how?
- More generally, what should I be doing to be able to access the newly JS-modified id from my SWF movie ?

I have a flash object that connects to the user's webcam.In Firefox, I can remove the container div of the object (using jQuery) and the camera will turn off.However, in IE8, when I remove the container div, the camera stays on but the flash object appears to be removed from the DOM.Is there a way to sever the connection between IE and the webcam so the light on the webcam will go off when the flash object is removed from the DOM?

This fires a modal (jQuery UI). It it working in FF, Chrome/Safari but not in IE 7/8. Is there something I'm missing here?
Big Picture: We're using a swf to render custom type and there is a link in the rendered (flash) content. We're hoping to catch the link action in the jQuery listener so we don't have to extend our swf have an optional param to return false on link click.

Is there a way I can have JavaScript/jQuery know when a Flash object has been clicked (and still have Flash process the click)?
I tried putting a table on top of the object with position: fixed and a z-index and the object set to param name='wmode' value='transparent' so I could have my JavaScript detect which column was clicked using jQuery's click(), but the clicks were never intercepted by JavaScript (Chromium Linux).

I have a div with a flash object in it. That div is going to pop up in a modal triggered when a user clicks a thumbnail of the flash presentation. The problem occurs when I try to use the scale effect to scale in or out, it errors out.

I need to be able to load up different flash files when users click an image in my gallary. My current solution works perfectly fine in Firefox, but Chrome and IE are not working and it isn't giving any error messages. I use jquery to change the embed source
