As we know we can't $.show/$.hide to show/hide the flash component,which will cause the flash player to redraw it. Is there a flexible component that can hide/show flash components with redraw them?

I use jquery.flash() plugin to embed flash into my website. The problem is that in IE6 this doesn't work. I tried swfobject (1.5), also, but it gives me (sometimes) some strange errors with n null or something like that, so I decided to use jquery.flash() also. (I use both swfobject and jquery.flash() now)
So, basically, swfobject works but gives me that strange error sometimes (all browsers), so NOT all my flash banners work, and jquery.flash() WORKS in all other browsers, except IE6.

the thing i'm searching for my site is something that can show, and after 10 seconds, hide some html.Exactly is for a games site. View 1 RepliesI have written a modal using jquery UI and it appears at the front of a flash movie thus the html inside the modal becomes corrupt, I tried to hide the movie right before modal gets triggered and reappears after closing the modal, works well but each .hide() and .show() the flash movie gets resetted while all I want is to hide (without removing the movie) and displaying it once it is triggered to .show that modal div.

Im the new kid on the block so I apologyze if I'm not doing very well.Everything works fine till the moment in which I set the wmode param of the flash movie to transparent, then the movie completely disappears (it loads, as I can listen at the sounds) but it doesn't show.I would like to have a full background image with the transparent flash movie over it, that's all, if somebody can tell me how to fix this or even a new way to do it, it will be so good!!Here is my code, so simple, by the way:

Is it possible to play a media file which is outside the webroot using the Jquery Media Plugin. The server that we are on is windows based. The file path for example is:

So my code is:Click the link show the div.I'm using the jquery flash embed object.[code]When I repeat this code and get the second video to load on click. It works in all browsers. The only issue I'm running into is that in IE6 the video keeps playing and in other browsers it stops the video your watching and loads the one you clicked on. I looked into using the .remove object or the .append to a div, but I can't seem to get that to work and if it does work will it play nice with IE6.
View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create an overlay containing a flash player that is shown when a user clicks on a link. The div containing the player starts with display:none in CSS. Upon clicking, the div will be shown, and JS will use ExternalInterface to configure and start the player. The JS configures the player when it catches a "flash ready" event, which is fired by Flash on ADDED_TO_STAGE.All this works, except that the ExternalInterface callbacks are never created. The JS and AS3 work fine if the player is shown upon page load, or is hidden with visibility:hidden instead of display:none. I am aware that Flash will not be initialized with display:none, and this works as expected: when the Flash is unhidden, it fires its events and correctly initializes everything else (eg. GUI, other internal stuff). The only thing that doesn't happen as expected is that my ExternalInterface callbacks are not added.
ExternalInterface.available is true. It's not a timing problem, because even after several minutes the callbacks are still not present. The strangest bit is that the flash is able to call JS, fires JS events fine, and the code to fire the events comes after the code to add the callbacks. There are no errors thrown by any of the AS3 code. I'm seeing this problem in both Chrome and Firefox.
I am a web designer and I do like to hand code using jquery however, I think it would be much faster to use gui applications like flash to create animations especially on the fly as well as support for writing and editing source code.

I have tried setting the z-index of the menu but this makes no difference. A common suggestion seems to be to set the wmode parameter to transparent or opaque. Now I want to play a small chime but I don't want to make the site dependent on Flash. It is just a chime to indicate a new chat, so it is not a huge stumbling block but I would like to find a way.

I'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

I know I can decompile it to find out all the commands and would like to make scripts to automate the game by calling procedures in the actionscript of the game. So I guess I would like to make a plugin also that would insert this console into any flash app and this would be handy for a lot of things.
