I'm using Javascript's mouse event to pass information about mouse position to flash and show the specific animation frame depending on mouse position.
The problem is, when mouse is over flash object, it doesn't fire javascript event anymore. I've tested it on Chrome and it seems to be working, but Firefox doesn't want to cooperate.
My flash object is located in the middle of website and has transparent background. It has to stay this way. Also, I'd rather not move the action to the ActionScript for two reasons:
Website's width is not constant (different browsers for example) so I'd have to push viewport's width to the flash too, which will complicate the script, also mouseenter events etc. I don't know AS very well.
The code: (I'm using jQuery here because it's also used somewhere else on the page, previous mockup used plain JS)
I have written a modal using jquery UI and it appears at the front of a flash movie thus the html inside the modal becomes corrupt, I tried to hide the movie right before modal gets triggered and reappears after closing the modal, works well but each .hide() and .show() the flash movie gets resetted while all I want is to hide (without removing the movie) and displaying it once it is triggered to .show that modal div.
As we know we can't $.show/$.hide to show/hide the flash component, which will cause the flash player to redraw it. Is there a flexible component that can hide/show flash components with redraw them?
I then populate the page with some Flash controls (in my case, I'm using Uploadify). When I click on the Flash control, I see the alert in Firefox 4. However, I do not see the alert in IE8 or Chrome (I havent tested any other browsers).
how to execute the code below from a javascript funtion when the body unloads this is a flash function but I would like it executed from a js function.
I need to create a splash page type thing. It needs to play a flash movie and then when that movie has finished show a full screen image using html/js. THe movie will be flash and the image display will be javascript powered.
I am a web designer and I do like to hand code using jquery however, I think it would be much faster to use gui applications like flash to create animations especially on the fly as well as support for writing and editing source code.
I'm trying to recreate a javascript version of the site [URL] which is in flash.
Currently I've already done up the basic layout, which is a simple horizontal container containing divs. You can see the code here [URL]
I'm thinking to set a handler for mousemove event, but I'm not sure how to do the math behind the container's left position in relation to the mouse's x position for the scrolling part.
I've got an HTML page with an embedded flash movie, which has a button. This button in flash invokes the lnkEmail's click event. It's supposed to stop from actually navigating to a new page, but the event.preventDefault(); and the returning of false from the event handler don't seem to be working for me. Can anyone provide insight?
The below example is working in Chrome, but fails in IE 7 and FF. In those browsers it redirects to a blank page with Object [object] as the body and in FF has the url set to the javascript code I execute from within the Flash movie. (ie: "javascript:jQuery('#lnkEmail').click();")
i have a flash site that i need to put in a page a list of the food menu, in this site will have 6 menu's of food, and each menu is for one week, in first week will have the first menu untill the last week that is the six will have the sixt menu, than it will return in the beginning and starts again. Basically the menu's will make a loop in the weekends. I was told me that its better to do in javascript since it looks like in actionscript isn't possible, so i think ill export the info of a html page to a swf.My question is how can i control in javascript a event of a object whit my time zone and days.
I am using the VideoJS HTML5 video player (http://videojs.com) on a WordPress site I'm developing. The player launches in a modal window, and it works great for the most part, but the Flowplayer flash fallback for IE isn't behaving as I want.
When the user closes the modal box, playback should stop/pause. This works fine in HTML5, but not with Flowplayer. I've had a look at Flowplayer documentation but can't seem to get their suggested code to work. I've tried several variations, with no luck and cannot find a working example on the net.
It may be worth noting that VideoJS is called from WordPress, using VideoJS WP plugin.
The snippet below shows what I think it should work, where $f is the flow player selector, but I've tried other ways.
I am currently using ExternalInterface to call JS functions from Flex. Is it possible to do the same the other way around: have Flex execute a function when a certain trigger is executed in JS? I want to have a Flash app with buttons in HTML that when pressed call functions inside the Flex app.
I am using it on a Sony vaio l pc (like hp's touchsmarts) in windows 7 the app doesn't need any multi-touch gestures (only single touch clicks and drags) so i am using mouse events
everything is fine (including mouse click and move events) except that a single touch to the screen (with no move) doesn't fire a mouse down. it is fired only after a small move of the finger
outside the app, on my desktop, i see that the small windows 7 cursor jumps immediately to where a finger is placed, meaning this issue isn't a hardware or a windows problem but rather how internally the flash app receives "translated" touch-to-mouse events from the os.
for example, in a windows Solitaire game, a simple touch to the screen immediately highlights the touched card.in my app, a button will change to the down state only if i touch it and also move my finger slightly (click events - down and up - are triggered fine)
shouldn't the MOUSE_DOWN event trigger exactly like how a TOUCH_BEGIN would in the new touchevent class?
I have a problem with a flash movie, that is initated below a div element with z-index: 2000;. I have a onMouseDown event, on the div - which is triggering fine, and I have $(divelement).hover(functionIn(),functionOut()) attached. (The onClick event is captured by the underlying flash regardless of z-index)
In FF and IE9 this is all working as expected, but in IE8 the functionOut() and functionIn() is triggered on every pixel! What's a good way to fix this?
Possible to add some sort of pixel boundaries based on the element size and position to aid .hover() ?

I created a button that has a movieclip in the rollover state. When you rollover the mouse, the movieclip will animate to appear as if the button will scale from a small to a large button even though it is the movieclip that is playing and not the button itself. But I also want to add a keyboard code to play the rollover instead of the mouse. I learned to write actionscript to play different scenes with the code below, but I'm not sure if I can play a button rollover with the same code.
stage.addEventListener(KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN, key_pressed); function key_pressed(event:KeyboardEvent):void { if (event.charCode==49) { gotoAndPlay(1,"scene"); }
I have a problem and I have potential solution. But I wanted to confirm if there is an easy and simple way to solve my problem.App type:Isometric Game.Problem statement:I am loading images in my flash app and have mouse events attached to them. The images I load are prop images like vehicles, trees, buildings etc., and all of them are transparent.Example: Red ball asset (please ignore the yellow background which I applied to describe the problem)If I click on the actual image area (colored in red), then every thing works perfect.I don't want to trigger mouseevent when I click on empty image part (or transparent area, which I have shown in yellow color)There is one way I know by creating masks in flash. I don't want to do it unless that is the final option left because I load image assets instead of flash assets and I don't want to create a new mask asset for all the assets. There is another method I was going to adopt by using getPixel method of Bitmap.
But there is another problem with this method.I might be able to ignore the click event when I click on the empty part of the asset but if there is some other asset is behind the image in the same location, then I need to process the click event for the occluded image.Well, thinking of solution to this problem takes me to the getObjectsUnderPoint where I can scan the occluded assets
Im using show/hide to load a 'loading' flash file whilst a form loadsThe div im trying to show contains an swf fileThis works fine in all browsers except safari, which does not show the swf file upon clicking the submit buttonIm using...
I am trying to learn JavaScript and I am wondering whether JavaScript has a event listener just like ActionScript's ENTER_FRAME. Basically, I want this event listener to listen "all the time" not just wait for any particular instance (mouse click, keyboard event) of event.
[URL]Did u notice that the video automatically became fullscreen if the mouse doesn't move for a specified time. How can trigger a function if the mouse doesn't move for sometime?
Within a specific canvas, I would like a user to be able to press a combination of keys which will trigger an event.(a bit like a cheat in an old megadrive game). Not sure where to start though. Anyone know if it is possible and if so could you give me a clue with how to start?

Smarter than I Fellows:I've uploaded a source .fla for my project: [URL]I'm trying to get out of timeline based animation and start using AS.... I've been watching adobe tv and reading, reading. I can look at AS and understand it, but am far from knowing where to start when building something. Here for example I simply want my previous and next buttons to display hidden at the beginning of the movie and then show when the user mouses over the stage.
Of course they should also on click let us navigate from slide to slide and the slides will transition in and out on X axis with nice easing and a blur (i'm trying to mimic the action found at FontExplorerX [URL]. Right now, I'm just tying to get my buttons to not appear until mouseover (maybe they should appear on load and disappear after a delay and then reappear on mouseover - the mouseover trigger would be the whole stage for both buttons, not just the specific area).
the thing i'm searching for my site is something that can show, and after 10 seconds, hide some html.Exactly is for a games site. I want to show ads during 10 seconds, and after this time, load the .SWF file of the game.During 10 seconds i want to show the window of the ad in the center of the field where later the game will be displayed. It's like a 700x500px window. One of the problems is that the ad window maybe 300x200px and i want to put it in the center. It's like i want to make a scene of 10 seconds with tha ad showing like the game is loading.I beg you to answer in a begginer level, i'm not expert in scripts, just know some html, that's why i'm a bit overwhelmed with the info i found in the net.
I've got an image gallery, that when the the image is clicked, it opens 2 images side by side like a magazine. Once the 2 images are loaded and visible, it makes visible 2 movieclips on each side to let you go to either the previous/next 2 images. Here's my code, I made bold the code that specifically relates to my problem. What I'm trying to do is when the button is clicked it either increases or decreases the imgCount by 2, and reloads the new images, but since the function I'm trying to initiate is triggered by a mouse event I don't know how to trigger it when the other function is triggered.
var imgCount:int = 1; var imgLoader:Loader; var lLoader:Loader;
