View 11 RepliesI have been trying to pick up more as3 lately, also have been converting some of my sites from as2 to as3. In as2 I could create 3 menu buttons and save them in a mc- lets call it menu_mc. This menu_mc sits on my main stage. I have also placed a mc on stage to hold anything that I load. Lets call it holder_mc. So I figured out how to get my email button to work using this:
email_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, mailto);
function mailto(event:MouseEvent):void {
var email:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailto:myemail@mail.com");
navigateToURL(email, "_blank");
}
That's fine. What I can't for the life of me figure out is understanding how to click on one of my menu buttons and load a swf into my holder_mc on stage. In as2 I could use this code on a button :
on (release) {
//load Movie Behavior
if(this.my_holder == Number(this.my_holder)){

I have created a website which loads external swfs as pages onto the main stage on the click of a button. I am using Flash CS3 and Actionscript 3.0. Here is my code:

var fontDescription = new FontDescription();

How can i delete the Textfield pushing a button?
After pushing a button I like a movieclip to delay for lets say three seconds before it appear. This action don't have to repeats itself!
View 3 RepliesI have a draggable button/rectangle that when goes ontop of other objects they are being pushed away depending on the less distance around the rectangle.
If someone knows a tutorial or something that could help me please say
I started with if (button1.hitTest(button2)) { ... } but I dont know what to do next
im trying to get a movieclip to move by pushing either the left or right button, and then when the enter button is pushed i want the mc to keep moving but it seems to stay still. this is what ive got so far:
ActionScript Code:
mcBoat.onEnterFrame = function()
{
if (Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT) )
[Code].....
it keeps moving if the enter button is pushed and then pushing an arrow key but not the other way.
I'd like to get the input text in the SWF to save on exiting the SWF without pushing a button. Here's what I have so far that incorporates pushing a button
Code:
var savedstuff:SharedObject = SharedObject.getLocal("Cookie");
btnSave.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, SaveData);
function SaveData(MouseEvent) {

I am trying to get a nav button in one movie (main_nav.swf) to target a my main movie (index.swf) and load a sub nav movie (metals_subnav_infinite.swf) into it. The sub nav movie will do a similar task - loading a portfolio swf into main movie (index.swf). Here is the file breakdown of my working files:index.swf - main final movie which loads "main_nav_infinite3.swf" on startmain_nav_infinite3.swf - loads main nav "main_nav.swf" and scrolls it infinitely (infinite menu)main_nav.swf - main nav with buttons that trigger sub nav "metals_subnav_infinite.swf" to load into index.swfmetals_subnav_infinite.swf - loads sub nav "metals_subnav.swf" and scrolls it infinitelymetals_subnav.swf - sub nav with buttons that trigger "folio.swf" (have not created this file yet!) to load into "index.swf"The script I was focusing on is in main_nav.fla and it is:
metals_mc_bn.onRelease = function() {
reActivateMenu();
this.gotoAndStop(3);

I have several buttons which when clicked should load an external swf to the stage. This is an example of one of my events
[Code].....
Firstly, should I be doing this in every buttons event, or is there a more economical way of doing it? Like will it allow me to make the loader global, and reuse the same loader with each event? Secondly, if I have it like this, and I click a button, an swf will load onto the screen. If I then click another button, another swf will load. Will this second swf sit on top of the first swf? In other words, do I need to check if any other swf's in on the screen before placing a new one, and if there are, should I remove them?
I have made many small swf files for each section of my website. The problem is now I want to club them all together to avoid breaks and showing of the loader at inappropriate moments, I know that was poor planning on my part. I want to know I can place an external swf onto the stage, so that it gets loaded with the main swf. As in, I don't want to call a loadMovie or loadClip
View 1 RepliesI am preparing a photo gallery containing over 100 HD images, and I don't want any site visitor to wait the whole gallery to load. So I made them loaded from a folder with the help of an xmlList file. With GoForward and GoBackward buttons, I made every picture to load when requested with "addChild" command after removing the previous one. But if the next image is too big the visitor still have to wait the image to load, and another problem is if the visitor makes a few forward or backward moves he/she still have to wait for the very same image to load which is shown moments ago because the image have been unloaded.
Is there a way to load all the external images into library but make them wait in the swf cache until the associated button is clicked. so this way no image will be load twice nor the visitor should have wait.
I have a typical logo on the right top corner and a menu bar just above it. Above the menu bar, I have a UIloader in which I load photoalbum.swf when one of the menu buttons is pressed. The problem is that setting the scaleContent property to true doesn't load my external swf.Setting it to false, everything appears as expected, except that the bottom part of my photo album is cut since the scaleContent property set to false (this makes the loaded swf file's size the same as the stage's and as the UIloader begins just above the menu, the bottom part gets cut off).
View 2 Repliesbasically I want to load an external SWF into my flash file, which I can do just fine, but when I load the swf in, it loads EVERYTHING in the swf into the new flash file...What I want is for it ONLY to display the contents on the stage. I work with large images that span way beyond the stage...then I move the images and when I export the swf it looks like a camera zoomed in and tracking around a large image. BUT when I load the swf into another flash file, it just loads it in with no regard to the stage...how do I get it to JUST load what I can see on the stage? here's my current code:
button_1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, fl_ClickToLoadUnloadSWF);
import fl.display.ProLoader;
var fl_ProLoader:ProLoader;

I am trying to make an interactive book that will have a chapter broken into several paragraphs that will load into dynamic text boxes.
For my first chapter, I have 3 text boxes, in which I have 3 different .txt files being called upon with 3 separate loader(); events It's important that the .txt files are loaded dynamically so the content can be edited easily.
Is there a way to do this with array or classes so I don't need to create and code 10 boxes for each chapter?
I want to load my external SWF file using the following code in "Panel4_mc" instead of on stage. How can I do it" function btnClick(event:MouseEvent):void {

I'm working on a portfolio site that loads external images and swfs (using loadClip). Many of the swfs are banners that have stuff that's viewable off the stage...whoever developed them wasn't smart enough to mask it off, and I don't have the source files.
The first problem I have is the extra stuff is showing up when i load it. The second is that its messing up the width and height properties of the clip (which I need to use to resize a frame that fits around the loaded swf/image). Is there anyway to get the size that the swf document was actually set to with actionscript? That way I can set up a mask. Otherwise I think I'd have to manually create an fla with a mask and correct size for each existing swf that externally loads that swf. Unless anyone can think of a better solution?
I am trying to load an external image into a movie clip that is already on the Stage and size it to the movie clips size. The movie clip name is member_gallery with the width of 360 and the height of 251. One of the images i am trying to load into it is 1024 * 768. I would also like to load other images of different sizes into the same movie clip and they all change to 360 * 251 when loaded.
PHP Code:
onClipEvent(load){var container2:MovieClip = createEmptyMovieClip("container2", getNextHighestDepth());var mcLoader2:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();mcLoader2.addListener(this);mcLoader2.loadClip("http://www.gothics-r-us.com/chat/images/gru.jpg", container2);trace(this._width);trace(container2._xscale); container2._xscale = this._width / 10; container2._yscale = this._height / 10; //container2._height = 251;}
I am trying to use a button on stage to load a swf and then on subsequent presses, advance to next frame.The movie loads, but on subsequent presses, it either reloads the movie, or replays the 1st frame.So I believe the 1st Two lines work, but the rest?

I'm using this AS to load multiple external images into mc instances on a stage, using different loaders.[code] The external images always load from the upper left corner down, how can you make the image load from the center of the instance on stage?I found this code below and doubt it will work for me since I have 5 mc instances on different parts of the stage, so the stage wouldnt be a good reference point.[code]
View 1 RepliesI am trying to get an instance of a class to the load an external swf and show it.So far I have the following:
1) I wrote a class that uses the Loader class to load an external swf "loadExtSWF".
2) I have a fla named "MainSWF.fla" that uses a document class "MainSWF.as".
3) I have the MainSWF.as file that instances "loadExtSWF" and calls loadExtSWF.startLoad to load the swf.
This almost works. The instance of loadExtSWF loads the external swf, but the swf is not displayed.If I replace the fla's document class with loadExtSWF (this has an empty constructor) instead of MainSWF, and run loadExtSWF.startLoad, then the external swf is loaded and displayed.[code]
This is my first attempt at external as classes and I can't get them right. I've a button set up on the stage and an external as file with the following code:
Code:
package {
import flash.display.*;
import flash.events.MouseEvent.*;
import flash.display.SimpleButton.*;
public class myTasteButton extends SimpleButton {
[Code] .....
Basically I need to link an external class to the button, which will in turn when clicked play the beat_mc. I've given the button the class of myTasteButton. It's not working but I'm not getting any errors.
Im trying to load a movie using a button. I just want the button, when hit, to load an external .swf file inside the movie clip playing.
In AS1, (I never did learn AS2) this is what the button command said
on (release) {
loadMovieNum(About.swf, 0);
}
So how would this translate into AS3?
I have a flash website that loads rather slowly, presumably because it is composed of a single .swf file, so I want to break that down into several. So how do I create a button that loads an external swf on top of the existing movie?
So far I have this which I pulled from {URL]
Code:
//This creates a new instance of the loader object.
var my_Loader:Loader = new Loader();
//This creates a new instance of the URLRequest object that contains the
//path to the external SWF.

How to load an External SWF on button click?[code]...
View 3 RepliesUsing AS3.0, how do I load an external swf file when I click a button? Also, how can I get rid of that swf file when I click a different button on a menu?
View 1 RepliesI am an uber n00b to flash AS3. And it is not my intention to sound like a complete moron, but honestly, I have had a hard enough time figuring out just how to load an external .swf into my main file! add a button within the external .swf which will unload itself and load a new on in its place.
View 1 RepliesI can load an external SWF when I click a button. If I click the same button again the same swf file loads on top of it self. How can I fix it?
