I have a fairly complex animation movie clip within my main timeline in a Flash file.  When you click a button, it plays the movie clip, then goes back out to the main timeline.  The first time the movie clip runs, it plays choppy and slow, but if I play it two or more times, it plays correctly (smoothly).  Is there some actionscript I need to preload the movie clip, or some other solution to the first-run slowness?

Mysteriously Slow Load Time Only In Some Browsers

We've been trying every trick to fix a problem with long lag time in video startup in some environments. In particular, there's a long time gap between the time the custom .swf skin appears and the video starts to play. Only some combinations of OS for the FMS server and client browser shows the problem, but for those combinations it is consistent and appears to be a constant of approximately 59 seconds, regardless of the length of .mp4 or number of times played in our custom .swf. (Our .swf accepts a supplied file location for the .mp4 to stream.)

On our main server (Win2008R2), we run a virtual machine that has Win2008R2 installed. If you click on the video URL from a Mac Safari browser on MacBookPro, the load is FAST (a few seconds). On the other hand if you click from IE on any Windows machine (VM or native, Win7 or WinX), the load is SLOW (one minute). If you try locally on the server virtual machine with the FMS and web server (IIS) installed, the load is also SLOW. The reference flash video (i.e. NOT through our .swf) loads FAST. [code]...

Calling RemoteObject service for creating new record. On success of method I am adding new record in existing list collection. Functionality is working fine however for subsequent calls of adding new record response time of the services is increasing. For first call it takes 3-4 seconds while for 5 on words it takes 10 secs and so on. If I remove addItem(obj) line in below code in green, response time is quiet stable 4-5 seconds.

currently i have a function in which my object fish will move to a food i am having trouble getting it to rotate nicely to the food currently my function is as below.if the food is above the fish my fish rotation is 0 which is facing up, if the food is below my fish i will give it a rotation of 180 which will make it face down , however the rotation is too sudden it does not give a nice and realistic effect of rotating to the food.how can i make it when rotating to move some distance and at the same time rotate? because it cant rotate to the food in the same spot as it would not be realistic.

What I want to do is rotate the object and have its collision box rotate with it. I want the rectangle to rotate so it looks like a diamond and have one of its sides hit the object in a per pixel fashion. From my reading of some books and websites it seems that normal rectangular collision and hitTestObject collision won't do for this problem. I have searched high and low and want to know if anyone has a solution to hit detection with moving and rotating objects. Here is my current collision code with rectangles

When a pool ball is rolling fast, less of it's mass should be touching the felt, therefore, less friction. As it slows down, there should be more contact with the felt, and therefore, more friction. I am working in AS2 and I have a flash project that is almost complete but I would like 1 thing modified.I have a fish image following my mouse.

The problem is that I would like the fish image to "turn" and face the direction of the mouse. Currently, as is, the fish follows the mouse fine when the mouse is moving to the right, but when it goes to the left the fish swims backwards rather than turns and swims the correct way following the mouse to the left.How would I modify the script to get the fish to turn and always swim forward when going left and right?

im having trouble getting this rotation function down pat. i have a turret that should be rotating towards another moving object. it should find the shortest direction to rotate. basically what ive done is converted action script rotation from using -1 -> -179 to 180 -> 359. but now im having issues when the object it is tracking passes over the zero degree point. the turrent then rotates around the other way. here is the code. my mind is getting a little boggled. it is being passed the x difference between the objects, and the y difference
