AS3 :: Flex - Zooming Center Of A Dragable Container With In A Mask?

I have container movieclip and one mask layer with the height and width of the current screen. The continer is always bigger than the mask clip. so i need to zoom the container at the center of the mask clip. something link in MicroSoft XL zoom controller at the bottom right.

im trying to create a dragable mask in actionscript 3 but can only find tutorials for actionscript 2. Is there anything i could do to make it compatable with actionscript 3.0? codes below

I am trying to rotate a centered container from it's center. The problem with this code is when I use the rotatePicture method, it doesn't rotate from the center, instead it rotates from the box's top-left corner. Here's the code...
I have a dragable gallery of images separated with "contentSpacer". I'm trying to make each image "snap" when it is close to the centre. I've modified this [URL] and got it working, to a point. My problem is the x value that the gallery being snapped to needs to have "contentSpacer" subtracted from it: if its the third image in the sequence then it need to have ("contentSpacer" * 3) subtracted from it (as there is three gaps between the start of the gallery andthe end of the third image, get it?). In the code below I've put (proximity - (contentSpacer * j)) but "j" does not exist right now, you see what I'm getting at? The code doesn't seem to be aware what image it is snapping.
I have a container in which I want to attachMovie a movieClip.I figured out how to resize the movieClip to fit the Container but what i want now is to make it be attached in the center of container.I can't use the name._x = because the movieClip I want to attach is created via as after some values inputed by the user so i do not know where it's registration point will be. I thought of using the name._width and name._height but as it is normal to be it's always positive so I can't figure if the registration point is in the top left corner or the bottom right corner or anywhere else. What I think I might need is to always set the registration point to the same spot. To explain better and shortly how it works: I attach a movieclip (dot) at x=0 y=0.then another one(a line) from x=0 y=0 at a certain angle imputed by the user and another line also with angle and length seted by user etc. so I do not know where they go from the 0;0 dot.
I am making button pieces for use in my GUI factory. I am having an issue placing my Thumbnail graphic w/Mask and border. The mask is not moving away from 0,0 when the Thumbnail is moved to 280,10.I can force it to 280,10. I will be multiples of this and other button in a scrolling menu with it own mask in a container.I am trying to build in a work-a-round for this feature.Here's the primary part of Thumbnail class:

I dinamically build a menu: this menu is made up of two nested MovieClips:
externalContainer_mc; itemsContainer_mc (inside externalContainer_mc at 0,0);
itemsContainer loads a dinamic number of MenuItems: they are library objects (extending the MovieClip class).Anything works just fine, but if, when anything is loaded, I put a mask (itemsContainer_mc.mask=my_mask) upon itemsContainer, every MenuItem disappears AND it isn't even clickable anymore. What happens?
Basically I want to know if there is a way to go from a zoomed in version of something, and then seeing the whole image in another frame. (By pressing a button)
Let's say there's a tree, I would bascially like (upon pressing a button which I can do) to zoom out and see the whole scenery. Is there a way I can do this without actually changing the size of the image?
In a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.
If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.
Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:
And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.
I have a loop that goes through data from a book and displays it. The book is not consistent in it's layout so I am trying to display it in two different ways. First way(works fine) is to load the text from that section in to a panel and display it. The second way is to create a new panel (panel creates fine) and then add collapsable panels(nested) to that panel. Here is the code from the else loop.

The error I get is: ReferenceError: Error #1069: Property panel4.4 not found on components.readTest and there is no default value.
I have tried setting the "name" property instead of the "id" property.
I look at professional animations and notice the camera-like effects they manage to put into these animations. I'm wondering how I can do the same without having to just enlarge or reduce a movieclip across the stage. Is there any way to add a camera view on your animations or do you just have to bear with Flash's basic necessities?
I am creating an flex Air project,so mxml file will run. I have circles in one Big circle at one side and will be same on other side.
Now how to drag any circle from any Big circle to other side. Or it could be like any two container having circles, then how to drag and drop circle?
For one circle i am able to do drag and drop.But I want one Big circle on left hand side and one big circle on right hand side .And small circles with class names will be in these big circles.Now i want to drag and drop those small circles in big circles.Big cicles should not move. I have a photo gallery. All the photos are displayed as thumbnails. When a user clicks on a thumbnail, the preview will be displayed in a canvas with full size. Now, I want to zoom the displayed image as much as possible.
It's going to be used to view complicated scenes in 3D, but to make it work on laptops it's instead showing pre-rendered 360 degree renders of the objects.When you load an object, it first buffers 360 frames into memory, so that you can rotate around this object smoothly. When you release the mouse button, it loads in the high-res image of that frame.
Then, you should be able to zoom in and move around to inspect the model closer.Problem here is when I have the scrollbars enabled it wont work properly.Firstly, I had a problem where the vertical scrollbar moved out of the picture when I was scrolling the horizontal scrollbar.
Then after some more testing, they now stay where they should, but when I zoom in (will post code below) the horizontal scrollbar is not able to go far enough to the left to show the whole image.What happens is, when I zoom in, the scrollbar remains at it's left position, but I zoom in on the center of the image (zooming, by scaling the container. The image fill the container).
My problem is probably just a result of me overlooking some basic understanding. And sorry if the code is a bit messy, I've only done a little bit of clean up. The code I post below is without any scrollbars visible.
You can see that I've tried using scrollbar components too, and it works somehow. But I'm not able to scale the scrollbar depending on the content, so if I zoom in or out, the handle you drag on the scrollbar will be the same...
I'm developing a new Flex app that's in the middle of an html page.
I want to be able to achieve what this website achieves [URL] when zooming in and out in the browser. It makes the container smaller but does not rescale the swf file.
Presently my app, scales and it looks ugly. I want it to basically not scale and just make everything smaller.
I'm currently working on a custom component which extends Canvas (let's call it SuperCanvas) ; it's basically a container that let you zoom & pan its contents. It would be too long to explain why, but I can't use scrollRect, so I was forced to declare a Canvas object (called innerCanvas)... inside my SuperCanvas (I know, not very nice =/) I would like to know if there's a proper way to "redirect" the creation of my component's children in this canvas.

i have a mobile application that i am creating in Adobe Flex (Flash Builder 4), and i am trying to create a zoom function. The one i have works, but the point is to be able to more easily read words that are in the image (the images are .jpg files). The images are 2550x3300 originally, but as soon as you zoom, the image quality reduces drastically, and nothing is readable.
I have a problem zooming in on a line chart with a dateTimeAxis as horizontal axis. I want to zoom in and out, by setting the minimum and the maximum attribute of the dateTimeAxis with a slider. The date labels change as should, but the lines disappear as I set the minimum or the maximum. Here's a part of the code I have:
i have written an air app which is fixed in dimensions: 1000 w X 800 h i have set the resizable and maximizable tags of the app-xml to false, to prevent the user from changing it's size. this app looks and interacts perfectly at these dimensions but not at other: it has "bad" coding techniques in it like hard-coded display sizes and such, rtl and ltr combined layoutdirections and so forth...
when the applicationComplete event dispatches, i check Capabilities.screenResolutionY and if it is less then 800 i want to resize the app programatically (preserving the width/height ratio). i have tried all the StageScaleModes and tried changing the dimensions of the stage, the nativeWindow, the app itself("this") and so on in every combination.
i am looking for a way to resize the entire app as is, meaning i dont want to use display logic of the components and such, just to "shrink" or "expend" the whole app as is, with hard-coded pixel amounts to change within the logic of the app accordingly (change all sizes, locations, fonts etc.. in sync) the app should look and work exactly as it did in it's 1000x800 default size, only smaller or bigger
I want to extend the RadioButton component in Flex 3, adding a text input line to it in place of the label. Is it possible to do this?Alternately, is it possible to have a container -- such as an HBox -- delegate all properties to an internal component -- such as a RadioButton -- so that I could create a composite component that 'acts like' a radio button?
I would expect the mask to be applied when the checkbox is selected, and removed when it issin't. But it doesn't seem to work.However, when you change to , it works like a charm. Can anyone explain to me why?
Note: In my actual application, i'm applying this in a skin to a component that is extending SkinnableComponent which can't use BorderContainer so a solution to this would be great.
I have a center window and a background in my flash file. I am trying to get the center window to stay in the center of the web browser screen and get the background to expand and fill the entire web browser screen below center window layer. Sort of like this site [URL] I've currently converted the background to a movie clip and have this code.
I create an HBox, fill it with a grid of buttons, and set the scroll policy. When I resize the window, the stage changes size, and so does the HBox ... to a point. Once it reaches the height of the Grid it contains, it stops shrinking, like it has a "min-height". This ruins the scrollbar that I'm trying to establish in this case.
I've set the height to 100%, shouldn't it always take the height of the stage, it's parent?[code]....
I'm new in actionscript 3, and I'm trying to make a dragable map. a Map that the user can drag, something like google earth with zoom in. But I can't find the way to make the margins work.
