I want to call a function once per frame between keyframe 1 and keyframe 60, but i don't want to have to create a keyframe on EVERY single frame in between with an action calling the function. is there a simple way like tweening, to make this function execute once on every frame without having to make 60 unique keyframes?

on frame 1 there is a function called 'openList' that I need to access from frame 2. Is there anyway I can do both: gotoAndStop(1), as well as openList()?
I want AS to create a new meteor once the old one enters the atmosphere...If I just tell it to run the function once it is in the atmosphere, it will infinitely create meteors and subsequently crash Flash.[code]

For some reason, the code on frame 2 is working by itself but selecting an index from the list from another frame is not working. In other words, i am not able to call successfully selectVideo() from frame 1 while it is defined in frame 2.
The objective of the program, as implied, is referring to a certain video from the list from a different frame. The whole code is working without errors just I'm not able to select a video from the list and play it if i was initially in a different previous frame.
I have a bunch of SWF files that have x amount of frames on them..When it reaches the end, I want to call a function. The problem is I dont have access to the FLA files. I have the total number of frames by doing slideHolder._totalframes which gives me all the frames...The only thing I can think of is doing an interval that checks _currentframe against _totalframes, but I want to know is their another way to do it?

I am in the middle of trying to create an swf that allows the user to upload an image into the flash file and manipulate it in several ways using actionscript 3 and flash cs4. (ideally if possible keeping the flash player needed at 9 or lower).I have solved most of the photo editing side, but am having trouble uploading any photo into the flash file. I have looked into the 'getfile reference' class and also the 'oncompletedata' but havent got it working. Can anyone help? I need the user to click on the upload button on frame one which will upload the file to the server and display it on frame 2 in the empty_mc (instance of myObject) Currently i have a random jpeg image in its place.
Originally i intended to use an html form and php upload script to do all the uploading then send the url link into flash but again cannot come up with a way for this.This successfully uploads my image onto the server in the 'images' folder but how do i get this into my swf?
I am currently building a website and what i need to do is to call external swfs in an empty MC on the index page regarding which buttons of the nav you clicked on.It works, very nicely. But then i need to be able to preload another swf on the index when i click on a thumbnail.
e.g: index load the "who.swf" first. On the who.swf there are 2 thumbnail and when click it must replace the "who.swf" with contact.swf. It works but the only problem is that i cant make the preloader of the index to preload the empty MC which load all the external swf.
Is it because i am using loadMovie and not loadCLip.
I'm trying to use ExternalInterface.Call to call a JavaScript function to launch a lightbox window. So far I have this:
AS3:

I get the alert but I can't get the lightbox window to display. When my as code makes the ExternalInterface call I get what looks like a page refresh and a blank browser window.

But for some reason the function call does not work when I call it via an action on a graphic where initially the code worked when it was explicitly written and not called as a function.

I need to get a javascript var in my Flash application. I like to be able to just set a variable in the javascript (client constraints) rather than define a function.
Can this be done? I am trying to use the ExternalInterface.call()

This does not work and I suspect it is because the ExternalInterface.call() does not like the anonymous function.
I have a function defined in JavaScript like so:

I call that function from my Flash file like so:

This works in both Safari and Chrome, but for some reason Firefox won't ever call the function. Still, I can't figure this out. How can I fix it?

View 1 RepliesI made nine frames with different jpeg images (on three Layers, which suit to different day's timespans), then I added actionscript. It gets date from system clock, according to hour - chooses timespan (morning or evening, midday or night) and display one of three frames for this time (randomly). But, when I test the project in preview (ctrl+enter) I have still first frame or empty Stage without any images. It works properly when click on Play in context menu.

The movies are all small movieClips that are loaded into the empty movieclip on demand. There is some video and text in each of the 30 movieClips.

My solution for the bilingual version is to create a separate frame with the French version + video and then when user presses the French button they are directed to that frame. This way I could easily create the French text within the one movie. however i don't know the Actionscript code to call up a movieClip to play from frame 10, and not frame 1.

I have a small aplication with two inputTextFields and a button, when the button is pressed it triggers a function that calculates the value in the two text fields, and everything is fine but when the textFileds are empty which is the default value and the button is press I get an error (Error: Error #1502: A script has executed for longer than the default timeout period of 15 seconds.)how can I detect if the inputTextFileds are empty and some how kill the main function ?
