ActionScript 1/2 :: Animating A MC In A Random Semi Circle Path?
Jul 15, 2010I try to animate a Movieclip (box or circle) thru a half ellipse path. Circle or ellipse path will be random.

View 1 RepliesI am quite experienced in Photshop and other elements however I am an absolute novice when it comes to flash.
What I am trying to create is an effect for a logo in which the motif in a semi circle shape which i want to appear in a wipe fashion starting left to right so that in wipe across and the shape appears in full at the end.
The shape in a rainbow....this would also have the company name below the logo which would be visible from start to finish. I have attached the picture of the logo. I would like the gold pot to also appear in the swipe of the rainbow.
I'm just starting out with AS3, so I'm trying my hand as some of the more basic drawing functions, to try and get a handle on them. The problem I've hit is using 'curveTo' to create a smooth curve is creating some very poor aliasing results. Here is an example: [URL]
The first part (which is actually on the right) is a very simple curve from 50,50 to 100,100, through 100,50. I would have expected the end points of the line to be single pixel width, but it's aliased over two pixels.
The second part (on the left) shows why this is a problem for me. I'm trying to draw a basic shape outline with a semi-circle at the top, but it really doesn't look great (it looks shifted half a pixel to the left relative to the rest of the shape).
[Code].....
I'm trying to make a simplegame in which you have to avoid a bunch of angry looking circles as they move across the screen. What should happen is that they all spawn outside of the stage and move across it then when they reach the other side they appear from somewhere else outside the stage So far I have managed to only make them come from one side of the screen by using this script on the enemy
[Code]....
I've tried using a switch() function with a random number to choose which side the enemy comes from but that didn't work it just skipped to default
animate the drawing of the outline of a circle over a set period of time, say 5 seconds?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to make text on circle path in Flash?
View 7 RepliesI'm drawing a path in Flex using Spark:Path.
I want to subtract a circle shape from this path, as in the following image:
(The path is black and wide)
I tried creating a mask using a Shape object but couldn't quite manage to create a mask that has a circular hole in it.
I want to place dynamic text, enteed by user, on an arc of a circle. I have written a code for it but not able to get exactly what i want. The text is rotated and placed on an arc but the rotation and placement is not that accurate. Anyone who can point me to some example or tutorial where it has already been implemented?I came across a flash component but it is paid : [URL]..
View 1 RepliesI have a circle: Width 530 and height 800. I want an object to follow this circle using a motion path, but you cant do that in pure actionscript, so I tried rotating the circle with the object attached, but warping the circle at the same time... so width becomes 530 and height becomes 800... but because the circle has rotated at the same time, it looks like it hasn't moved - except for the object attached.
ActionScript Code:
import fl.transitions.Tween;
import fl.transitions.easing.*;
import fl.transitions.TweenEvent;
var Tween1:Tween = new Tween(circle,"width",None.easeNone,800,530,2,true);
var Tween2:Tween = new Tween(circle,"height",None.easeNone,530,800,2,true);
var myTween:Tween = new Tween(circle,"rotation",None.easeNone,0,180,2,true);
This was the closest... but it still dances around the page before anything happens.... and it isn't reading the sizes properly? 530 isn't 530, but something bigger, and 800 is actually smaller?
I'm trying to animate several movieclips. I want them to randomly float around within a certain area of the stage. How would I go about this...do I need to look into Tween classes?
View 1 RepliesThe basic area:
add 5 circles on random locations on stage...
and animate them to random locations on stage without touching each other...
The problem::
The code below works perfectly (up to a certain point). It succeeds in making the circles animate to random points on stage. It also succeeds in detecting if once circle comes to close proximity with another circle... Code on main timeline:
Code:
var enemyArray:Array = new Array();
var timeToCreateEnemy:Timer;
// set up timer that will fire every 2 seconds, 5 times
timeToCreateEnemy = new Timer(2000, 5)
timeToCreateEnemy.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, createEnemy);
timeToCreateEnemy.start();
[Code] ......
how to make a counter clockwise circle using Senocular's Path class?
For example, if I start a half-circle on the left (9 o'clock) it will go to 6 o'clock then 3 o'clock. Right now it goes for 9 o'clock to 12 then 3.
Works great clockwise... but I can't get it to draw in the other direction. I tried messing with the math inside the class and it exploded!

I need to get a random xy value from a circle, for example going to spread circles on stage randomly. Its quiet easy to spread the circle in a square. Here that was done.
var MC:MovieClip=new MovieClip();
var squareWidth:Number=200;
var squareHeight:Number=200;
[code].....
What I want is something kind of like this:However, I don't want it to respond to the mouse at all. I just want random sized circles, on different layers, and different alpha values, floating around on their own.I could do in the timeline, with symbols and motion paths, but it wouldn't really be random at all. I thought it would be better in ActionScript.Can anyone point me in the right direction here? If I could even find a tutorial or example of creating basic random movement that would be great. I did find this:...but this isn't what I want either. I don't want 'jerky' movement. I just want them to float in random directions. That code also doesn't seem to be very flexible
View 1 RepliesI was taking this tutorial, >>LINK<< I want to change it from,
Code:
on (click) {
Duplicate Movie clip to,
Code:
onClipEvent (Load) {
That way once it load's it will duplicate the circle MC a random number of times. This circle MC is inside of another MC so it wouldnt be _root i want it to goto, it would be t_mc that I want it to look for it in.
So in the t_mc MC I put this code,
Code:
onClipEvent (load) {
i = i + 1;
duplicateMovieClip (t_mc.circle, "circle" + i, i);
}
And on the circle, I put this code,
Code:
onClipEvent (load) {
scale = (random(100) + 50)
this._x = random(250);
this._y = random(150);
[Code] .....
I'm trying to find a random x,y value that always is at the far end of a circle. Like if the circle has a diameter of 300 pixels and the centerpoint is at 50,50, I want a random position on the outskirts of that circle. Just cant seem to do it.
View 4 RepliesFrom this tutorial:[URL] Pretty neat effect, I wanted to use this for a gallery transition, but I have a problem. Does anybody have an idea how to know when image has been completely revealed so I can stop the enter frame listener and remove this growing masks, otherwise this is pretty useless
View 6 RepliesI am trying to figure out a way to randomly move a ball inside a bigger circle. The motion has to be smooth and completely random.

At the bottom I have some leaves there. I want to make a couple different size leaves like that and make them go from left to right at random paths and have it loop. I don't know much about actionscript but is there a way to do this without having to make a bunch of guide paths and doing lots of tweens and rotations?
View 14 RepliesSo I've created a script where a mc is clicked on and the player can draw a path using the mouse. I'm trying to figure out how I can get the mc to follow the path drawn out by the player's mouse and when the player clicks again, it erases all of the path.my code is below
Code:
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;[code].....
I'm developing a game atm, and I need some help on the mathematics/coding of colliding circles (and their change in x/y speed). What i need to know is how to calculate the direction and speed a circle has after colliding with a static (non-moving) circle. I know how to detect a collision between the two, but I'm not sure about the maths I need to give the circle the right speed and direction after the collision
If i do know how far away the two circle-points (in the middle of each) are to each other (in both x and y coords) would it be easy for me to find the new speed and direction of the large circle in the example above? I know that I somehow should use the angles to pretend the circle hits a flat "wall" (as it only hits one point), and then calculate the new speed/direction. My only problem is that I'm not sure how to decide the angle of this flat "wall" and how x and y speeds should change when colliding with a wall that is angled. Does anyone here have any insight, links or tips on how I can du this?
i want to make one circle follow the mouse cursor, inside another circle. Similar to an eye looking at the cursor. Ive attached an example.
