ActionScript 1/2 :: Automatically Copy Folder Of Files Onto User's Desktop?

Apr 30, 2009

I'm hoping to produce a CD of Captivate lessons to be accessed via a Flash menu. (Using Flash CS4, but with ActionScript 2). I can get the files to work from the disc, but as they are large files, they take less time to open if downloaded onto the user's machine first.

Is it possible to use some ActionScript to take the folder of files and copy them onto the desktop so that I can then point the menu items to the newly copied folder? I've seen that there is a download option in ActionScript but this seems to bring up a dialogue box and allows the user to place the files wherever they want. Ideally I'd like the process to be automatic.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Load External Image Files From A Folder Automatically?

Aug 4, 2011

Ok this is what I would like to do. My project I am working on has an app that will upload image files to a specific folder on my server what I would like to do is have it load all the files in that folder through flash without me having to manually add the names of the files into the coding if possible.

I can create an image slideshow but I have to put in each and every .jpg and such I would prefer not to do that as in the future there may be more then 5-10 images.

In addition I already have the app created that uploads files.

ActionScript 3.0 :: ApplicationStorageDirectory - Stop The Folder Being Created On My Desktop?

Oct 13, 2011

When it initially runs,I want it to copy an xml preferences type file from the applicationDirectory to the applicationStorageDirectory,so that the file can be written to as the user changes prefs.The following code works fine - nameStyle.xml gets written to the Local Store folder on my Windows machine.However, a folder called 'applicationStorageDirectory' also gets created on my desktop, and is populated with the file nameStyle.xml...

var nameStyleFileSrc:File = File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("nameStyle.xml");
var nameStyleFileCopy:File = File.applicationStorageDirectory.resolvePath("nameStyle.xml");
nameStyleFileSrc.copyTo(nameStyleFileCopy, true);

So I have two questions:
1.how do I stop the folder being created on my desktop?

2. is there a way to have files placed in the Local Store folder (or whatever folder depending on the platform) during installation, rather than copying files from the app directory when it first runs?

Flash :: Why Can't Log A User Out Of Facebook In An AIR Desktop Application

Sep 23, 2011

I'm building an AIR desktop app with facebook support using Adobe Flash builder. So far it's working alright, except for one detail, once a user logs in, that session stays open, even if the logout button is pressed. My logout code look like so:

protected function logout():void {
FacebookDesktop.logout(handleLogout, APP_ORIGIN);
}

I set APP_ORIGIN to "[URL]". I checked Adobe's documentation and they say: appOrigin:String (default = null) ” (Optional) The site url specified for your app. Required for clearing html window cookie. But I don't know what that means, what is the 'site url specified by my app'? Where do I get it? Sorry if this is a noob question.

Program Uninstalled But Folder Keeps Creating Automatically On Reboot

May 23, 2010

Anyways, I started playing with flash applications a while back, and had a folder on my desktop to keep all the finished ones in, and eventually windows deemed it a default flash folder. I used to run the apps in SWF max, until I finally got flash to load them up in the player again, so I uninstalled that. I also went ahead last night to tidy up my files, and among that, I moved the folder with my flash games from my desktop to a sub folder in my documents. Now however, when I log back into the computer after a reboot, a folder called "Flash Games" (the name of the folder I kept them in) keeps creating itself. The only contents is its Desktop.ini file, the contents of which are:

[.ShellClassInfo]
IconFile=C:Program FilesSWF.maxSWF.max.exe
IconIndex=4
InfoTip=My Flash Folder: Your default folder with flash movies

So ultimately, I figured well it wasn't windows deeming it the default flash, but that silly program I'd already removed. (There are no traces of it in my program files anymore either) I have not as yet went through both registry and the rest of the computer to remove those traces yet, but I doubt there will be many, it was a portable program.

Swf Files Won't Play From Desktop

Feb 1, 2012

When I publish the swf file with html, it works fine on my computer. If I send it to my old computer with Win XP and for most other people it works fine. But there are some who just get a black screen when it plays or a "get flashplayer" symbol. They update and it still doesn't work. They do not have a company setting that does not allow them to play the file and I have walked them through the browser settings so that anything should play. But still, no luck.

Actionscript 2.0 :: Creating Links That Save Files To Desktop?

Feb 2, 2010

I've been developing a Flash cd-rom for a client, and a particular page in the movie has an "press room" that will contain links to images and pdf's located on the cd-rom itself. I'm familiar with creating buttons, and set up a link like this on the button.

Code: Select allon(release){
getURL("images/feat_prct.png");
}

Obviously, it's a pretty simple link that brings the image up in the browser. That's great and all, but I'd really like it to bring up the option to save the image somewhere. I know that a reasonably smart person could just click on it in the browser and either pull it to the desktop or "save as", but I'd like to eliminate that step for them. I'd also like to be able to create buttons that link to pdf files in the same way.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Uploading Local Files Without Requiring User To Select Files?

Feb 3, 2009

My users upload a certain kind of text file that sometimeshas references to images stored locally on their hard drive. I needto check this file either on the server or within a flash app tosee if it has these references and then grab those images in aflash app to upload to my server.So I can use FileReference easily enough to have users uploadlocal images. But FileReference requires users to select their files with a dialog box. I can't have that. Myusers wouldn't know where to look and there are typically way toomany files, sometimes with the same name but in differentdirectories.

I can also just use URLLoader with a local URL, I guess I canprobably just use Loader too? That works great. The problem here isI can't communicate with both the server and the local filesystemin the same flash application due to Flash's security sandboxrestrictions. So I can get out of those security restrictions byplacing or editing a trust file in designated locations on variousOSes. I then need to install this trust file which is more invasiveand confusing to users then I want to be...Java's method of accessing local files from a web applet bysimply signing the applet with a certificate and having a dialogbox popup where the users grants access is ideal. Is there anything
