I wanna detect the direction of mouse movement. If the mouse moves tpwards the left or right of its currrent position, i want to detect it. Is there anyway to identify such movement. Actually i am implementing a 360 degree rotation of  image. That means , if the mouse moves along the left side of its current position, then the image should move along its left side, otherwise it should move along the right side. ActionScript 3.0 :: Detect Mouse Direction And Change Frame?

Feb 5, 2010

I'm building a simple 360 degree image rotation effect using single frames and forward and back buttons. I'm new to AS3 and have managed to create functioning buttons... (so my code may be a bit odd!)But now I also want to advance frames by clicking and dragging on the image itself (or on an invisible button sat on top of the image).Although there are some threads here which have asked the same thing, I don't understand how they were answered. My code is below, and the file I am practising with is on:URL...At the moment if you click on the image area it will advance but as there is no code detecting mouse direction, it just goes forward. Can anyone help me understand how to implement a simple direction detection and then use this to decided whether to advance or go backwards.[code]

ActionScript 3.0 :: How Does One "detect" If The Object Is Currently Moving To Its Own Left Or Right Direction

Sep 29, 2010

using trig, when moving an object based on its current rotation, how does one "detect" if the object is currently moving to its own left or right direction? example: right side up: left moves the car to its left, which is left. upside down(180 rotation): left moves it the car to its left, which is right. based on movement alone, how can i say its moving to its own oriented left or its right?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Moving MovieClip To X Direction

Apr 29, 2009

I'm moving a movie clip using actionscript (as2) instead of a motion tween (because I want to save file size). I have this code on the first frame of the main timeline ("stone" is the movieclip instance name) and it tells the movie clip how many pixels to move in the x direction:
Code:
xTargetstone = 600;

I have this code on the movie clip itself ("stone" is the mc instance name) to handle the actual moving of the movie clip:
Code:
onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
xstone = getProperty(_root.stone, _x);
movestone = _root.xTargetstone - xstone;
setProperty(_root.stone, _x, xstone + (movestone/5));
}

The movement works fine, but the issue is that it starts out fast and then slows down over time (even though that amount of time is small). The result is that the movie clip seems to wiggle and vibrate before it stops. Is there a way for me to change the code so that it doesn't wiggle and vibrate? perhaps something with the math I'm just not totally understanding? I would like a nice consistent motion from start to finish, while being able to set the time it takes to move etc.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Changing Direction Of A Movieclip Using Enter_Frame?

Jan 3, 2011

Would some wonderful person be willing to take a look at this code and tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I'm trying to use ENTER_FRAME method to get a moving movieclip to change direction when it hits certain x and y coordinates. I want the movieclip to move horizontally, then down, then horizontally again. With this code my movieclip starts off moving down at a diagonal and I can't for the life of me figure out why. (probably something simple I'm overlooking?) I'm a beginner at actionscript.

I want to have a mini slideshow in my menubar which, when my mouse goes over the movieclip containing the slideshow, the pictures 'enlarge', and when the mouse leaves, the clip becomes normal size again.

This is the code I've gotten the best result with, as of yet, but it only seems to notice that my mouse leaves the movieclip half of the time, and sometimes there's a 'glitch' where the clip zooms and unzooms uncontrollably when my mouse is just next to the clip.[code]...

ActionScript 2.0 :: [MX04] Detect Mouse Is Over Movieclip

Nov 4, 2004

You might think that this is a stupid question, since everyone who knows a little bit of actionscripting, knows that this can be achieved with onRollOver ... But that's not exactly what I'm looking for.

I have a small tooltip which follows the mouse and asks the user to click in order to close a picture. The tooltip follows the mouse using startDrag("tooltip", true);

But I'd like to remove the tooltip once the user moves the mousepointer outside the picture.
Though, when you use onRollOver, the mousepointer changes into a finger. This is not what I'm looking for since the picture than functions and looks like a button.

So is there any way to detect if a mousepointer is over a movieclip, without changing the cursor?

Flash :: Detect Rollover On Elements While Dragging A MovieClip Above Them?

Oct 20, 2010

I have a draggable item, a MovieClip that calls startDrag() on itself when it is clicked, and another MovieClip on the stage.I need the MovieClip to receive ROLL_OVER and ROLL_OUT events while the draggable MovieClip is being dragged over it, but the lower clip doesn't receive these messages while a clip is being dragged over it.Essentially, ROLL_OVER is only sent to the topmost MovieClip under the mouse. Normally, you'd fix that with some combination of mouseEnabled or mouseChildren on the overlapping MovieClips, but if you do that to a draggable MovieClip, it breaks dragging. I need to detect when the mouse is over the lower MovieClip, regardless of what MovieClips are above it.
