I have a photo gallery on two different pages. Whenever you go to the photo gallery, either page, I have it setup so that when you rollOver a picture, it swaps the depth of the picture so that they show up in front of everything else on the page and enlarges the picture. However, let's just say you rollOver one of the images, and then you click the next page on the photo gallery, or the home page or whatever, that movieclip still stays on the page. It's as if Flash is disregarding keyframes or the timeline or something.

I thought that even if this happened, it would be ok, and I could send that picture behind everything else so I made this code:

on (rollOut) {
this.swapDepths(-2000);
}

I'd like to control a movie clips current frame by another movie clips action script.I realise the following controls the outside (root) frame time line:

on(release){
_root.gotoAndStop(1);
}

but I'm not sure how to apply that to my other movie clip. I'm guessing it would be something like this:

_*movie_clip_name*.gotoAndStop(1);
}

Professional :: Movie Does Not Stop On KeyFrames

I am creating a very simple file with 4 single frame scenes in Flash CS3. These are linked by simple arrow buttons. However, the movie doesn't stop on the keyframes even though I have put a stop script in each of the four. There is no other script involved so far. The stop script appears on the top of the actions panel on the actions layer. Please see JPEG screenshot attached. [URL].

mc1 is placed on the stage. There are several key framesinside of it. On the first key frame is mc2. The subsequent keyframes have copies of mc2 which have been tweaked individually byway of transform tool etc. Run the play head manually and you sell the frames like you meant.But when the movie is tested only the original mc2 (as on keyframe 1) shows up on all the frames. And it is evident that thescript is moving the playhead as images placed in key frames onanother layer in mc1 appear correctly. I have heard its called 'puppeting' but my question remains:

Convert Animation Keyframes To Movie Clip?

I have an animated item on the main stage that was imported as a swf but it needed to be edited to fit the stage.  I successfully edited each frame and the whole movie is running exactly as I'd pictured it.  However, I was reading somewhere that to optimize the movie, keyframes and bitmaps and graphics take up more space and that it would be better to convert an animation to a movie clip.  I had to edit each frame of my swf, so right now it's in 15 different key frames  When I imported them, Flash turned each frame into a bitmap and then when I edited them for size they became graphics attached to those bitmaps, each as its own keyframe.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 - Attaching Movie Clips To Already Attached Movie Clips?

As most of you don't know, I've been creating an rpg game. And, after several tries of art making, etc, I have finally moved back into coding the game. And now, I'm stuck on the equipment system idea. At first, I thought I would just place a bunch of goToAndStop's for each movie clip to go to a frame that has that certain armor piece. This was my first idea for an equipment system. However, after doing some research, and realizing how much lines of code could be saved, I started looking into simply adding and removing movie clips from the character as my new equipment system idea. Now.... on to the problem.

Basic want/ overall achievement wanted: Create an equipment system, which will basically attach movie clips (items) onto characters, which themselves will already be attached movie clips on the stage.

Problem: What is the exact code to do this? And Is there a better way to do this for an equipment system (a less laggy or more efficient way perhaps that I'm not seeing; Check the code below to get a better idea of what I'm talking about)?

Multiple Movie Clips On Stage - Buttons Not Working In Movie Clips?

I have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Plays One Keyframe Then Switches To 2nd Keyframe When Date Changes?

I have a simple flash that has 2 layers 2 images. one image is on the first frame and the other image is on the second keyframe. Actionscript starts on 1st keyframe.  What I have it doing is loading frame one stop() reads the actionscript checks the date if the date is met it goes and stops on frame 2 and plays other image:
 
Everytime the flash refreshes it plays frame one then jumps to frame 2 if the date is met.  How do I avoid playing frame one if the date is met what it's doing is playing the first image before the date change and a split second after it plays frame 2.  (you see a hiccup)
 
i need the flash to "preload, check the actionscript before it loads if the date is met automataclly go to frame 2 avoiding frame one all together.

1. I would like to be able to delete one by one the new movie clips

2. I would like to move them all together.... First you press the word green and then click in the blue area.... A green cyrcle will appear.. Click the word green again and then in the blue square and a new green cyrcle will appear. I would like to move the cyrcles with the buttons arrownd the blue square... ActionScript 3.0 :: Starting And Stopping Multiple Movieclips On Different Keyframes Of Main Movie

I have multiple movie clips on 4 labeled frames of my movie. The keyframes are as follows : People, Place, Portfolio, Possibilities

The buttons to go to each of these keyframes work, although because I have a movie (different for each keyframe) I cannot get the previous movie's audio to stop when I click to another keyframe.

Also, I cannot get the other movie to work once I am on the next page.

The movieclips are named- Btn2 -which is the movieclip that plays once clicked on the homepage. Btn3- which is the movieclip that is supposed to play once clicked (on the people page).

give it some time to load- then click the doorbell- let the movie play for a little bit then click on people...the door closes, but the sound continues.

i have 2 movie clip in different layer but in the same frame (e.g 0 to 10). i have: 1st movie clip contains a red circle that will animate from left to right. 2nd movie clip contains a blue circle that will animate from right to left. i have 2 square buttons (a green and black) that will control the two movie. all i want to do is if i press black square button the 1st movie will play but not the 2nd movie even though they are in the same frame?
 
and yes i want the 1st/2nd movie to stay after the either of two movie played that's why i put them in the same frame size.

i am creating a game now this is complex but i have been told by my fellow actioncript co worker that its doable, What it is i have a game "Reaction Tester" and It is inside a car going along the road so its psudeo 3d and i have the "walls" and road sorted now i want a movie clip in the road to throw out random objects From a Movie clip, now i will call them from frame names, say..

i'm making a game and to score some extra performance im rendering every frame of every entity into an array of bitmapdata's the first time the frame is seen, and it works well, but its wasting alot of memory because we have alot of animations, and most of them are double framed at least, so more than half of the bitmaps could be ignored if there was a way to determine if a frame is a keyframe or not

Here's what I'm trying to do (in example form): I have a movie clip called "dude". Dude is animated to walk around, then drop a cigar (all inside the movie clip). But the problem is, dude moves, so if you try and move dude as the cigar is dropping, the cigar moves with him. So what I want to do is create a new movie clip instance called "cigar" OUTSIDE of the movie clip dude right as he's dropping it, so that you can move him without moving the cigar. Get it? I've attached another helpful animation to explain.

What I have right now is, on the 13th frame of dude, a few lines of code that create and place an instance of cigar. In that frame I also have an invisible instance of cigar for me to duplicate. Inside of the cigar movie clip is the animation that makes it fall to the ground. I need to change that code so that the instance of cigar is created outside of the movie clip dude. Here's the code I have now (inside of dude, on frame 13):

I have a problem stopping multiple clips. I have created a presentation using flash and I have many movie clips which have sub movie clips inside of them. Ok lets look at one movie clip in detail. Inside one _root movie there are multiple sub movies; each with a different movieclip labels (each movie clip is named with unique labels ie. north, south, east, west, and What I need to do is be able to STOP all these sub movie clips with one stop, and in turn PLAY these same movie clip with a second action.

The only way I know how to stop all these sub movie clips is to target each and every one individually.

What I'm trying to do is have my Flash piece have custom elements set by an XML file. I'm using ColorTransform. I have a piece that's loaded as a separate movie clip, and I can't figure out how to get to the piece and apply the ColorTransform.

Here's one example of what I'm doing for a different element on the same mc.

What I am trying to explain/do is to take a movie and not only have it follow a guided layer, but also to have it not dissapear.So for example, I have sucessfully made a movie move around a path as I broke some letters in to symbols and created a guided layer out of them.However I don't want the move to keep dissapearing and initializing as it transverses the path.To better explain this, please check out the online example: UrL...Now instead of holding down the mouse button and having the movie of hearts just keep compounding wherever the key_pressed mouse goes to, Imagine the hearts coming to screen as the movie goes through the guided layer so as to spell out a word. Here is the minimum that I think I need and I have edited it below and tried change the "mouseX" and "mouseY" to something such as flashmo_group.X and flashmo_group.Y but the resulting effect does not follow the path.[code]

I am setting up a flash game with seven toggle on/off buttons that all do the same thing.I know how to assign them all to be able to do the same function in the main timeline. What I can't figure out is how to get them all to also do the same function within each of their respective movie clips.

I've been trying to reproduce an animation effect I've seen on the Armani website, but I'm stuck trying to duplicate an empty movie clip with image loaded into it. The duplicates exist and I can move them, but they are invisible. Since the duplicates reside on depths above the intitial clip I'm confused about why they are invisible. The duplicates are scripted to follow behind the initial clip - each offset by 30 pixels (though I don't have that working perfectly).

I have a movie clip that is about 30 frames long. I've placed an instance of it on the main timeline and it follows a motion path. My motion path ends after about 20 frames. At this time, I've inserted a keyframe which is preventing my movie clip from playing the remaining 10 frames.
 
I tried adding an ActionScript layer where the last keyframe is and it reads:
instance.gotoAndPlay (20)
 
Doesn't seem to work. Just a note that this is around frame 292 of the main timeline. Also note, a new keyframe begins on another layer with a different movie clip.

I'm having an issue accessing a video that is in its own movieClip and is part of a parent movie clip. It's on a different keyframe from the 1st frame where the majority of my Acitionscript 3 is running from. I keep getting this error that says it can't access it because the instance of it hasn't been created or isn't on the stage yet.

This actionscript 3 stuff is giving me trouble with the easiest functions. I was able to get a movie clip to play by clicking on a button, but now I am having trouble with the close button. I am making a thing on my flash animation with a 3d planet spinning. When you move your mouse over it the planet will stop and contact info comes up, and when you rollOut the planet continues spinning and the contact info fades away. I have everything working but i cant get the planet to stop spinning when i do this because the button controls the fade but the planet is just spinning in the backround, hard to explan. Anyways i need to be able to send a stop and play action to the planet movie clip behind the button to stop. i need to send an action from Scene 1>universal>destinationclip>world. from a keyframe on the destination clip.

okay, i'm trying to create a full website myself, and inside my main scene movie, i have a movie clip for the content.. inside THAT clip on a frame for the links, i have another movie clip that has all the link buttons embedded... i've got those buttons set up so they stagger fade in as an effect... my problem is, they just keep repeating, and i want the fade in effect to stop after the first time. i've got a stop keyframe after the tween of every button motion, but i dont know the correct code for the movie/button clip itself to play once and then stop.. this is what i have right now, as an action on the movie clip with the buttons inside it:
