ActionScript 1/2 :: OnRelease GetURL Not Working With MovieClip Animation

I am new to Flash/Actionscript and am having problems getting some movieclips to link to different URLs on release. I am able to get them to animate, and I am able to get them to link to an html page in the same folder, but I can't get both functionalities to work at the same time. I've tried putting the actionscript in the instance object, in the action layer, and other things and nothing seems to work!?
Here is the link to the source file: [URL] believe that the actionscripting needs to be done in the "banners" movieclip, but it could also be the "Symbol 3" movieclip. Here is also a link to the .swf [URL]. See, if you mouse over the first two clips, they animate, but they do not go to the HTML page if you click on them [URL]. The third clip will go to the page success1.html in the same folder if you click on it, but it does not animate on mouse over.

I can't get my getURL to work. It works when I use "_blank" but not when I use "_self" or "_parent" or "_top" or leave it empty. I've got it right off the main timeline. I've also tried putting it within an onRelease function.
So, this doesn't work:

I am a Noob to ActionScripting and am having problems getting some movieclips to link to different URLs on release. why a getURL isn't working on a movieclip? The exact same code works fine when on a normal button but not on a MovieClip. Both were on the top timeline and were not embedded within anything. Actionscripting 1 in Flash CS3.

Ok so my swf on my homepage is calling in the main.swf which then has movieclips and coded like this on the Actions layer which I made
button1.onRelease = function (){
button1.getURL("http://scholarscanada.com/wordpress/education/programs/reading-readiness/");
}
Here is the site so you guys can see, I believe it has to be something with calling the main.swf into the movieclip because I've never encountered this issue before...

I have a movieclip that shows an animation onRollOver and an animation on RollOut but onRelease the animation enlarge itselfs but now when I'll roll out when the animation isn't open (so i didn't release) the animation plays the animation for the minimizing of the animation. the seven dots u see on the stage are 7 emptymovieclips. i've coded the action script to load the thumbnails in 6 emptymovieclips on left side arranged in grid.script is working fine till 6 thumbnails are loaded in the grid.(from externel xml file as i've coded)as logically u can guess that, when we click on a thumbnail, it's bigger copy should be loaded in the black square on he stage. but it is not happening ; i;ve coded for it also ;in the following script u can see that the last command is:

it should dispaly "clicked" on output window when thumb0 is clicked but it isn't showing anything. not any error even. the above line is in firstframe's action script; and it must should work from here only, not under the AS of thumb0 movieclip.

i have an fla that has a number of labelled frames that are relevant to buttons on the page. when a button is clicked the movie timeline goes to the specific frame and plays an animation - but how can i make it play the animation in reverse before going to the new frame.
so if the user clicks on, "about" (for example) the timeline moves to the "about" frame and plays an animation and then pauses and if the user then clicks on "contact" the about animation will reverse itself and then go to the contact frame and play the 'about' animation.
i have done something similar in the past by putting this script on the button

I've been following the tutorial "Creating Smooth Button Animation in Flash": urL...As with most menus, when the button is selected it needs to stay highlighted so the user knows which section they are in. i have a menu and links to internal pages like "index.html", "contacts.html" and so on.Before load those pages i need to end animation with objects desappearing.I found this code tell me if it's right because it doesn't work. i get this error message.
"ReferenceError: Error #1065: Undefined Url Variable" or something like that (i'm translating it from italian)
i have 6 links i applied code to one link only but i should apply it to all of them.
On parent timeline i have an animation and at the end of it i put this code:

I created a simple animation that needs to have a button on one segment of the animation. I created a button with a action of getURL in AS3, the problem I am having is that every time the animation loops from the first frame it triggers the button and the new page I requested pops up.

I have some code for my movie clip which is as follows:

When you click on the movieClip "purplebow" the animation starts, and when you roll off it goes back to normal. What I would like implementing some code into this so that my other movieClips (which are: bluebow, redbow, greenbow, etc). Disappear onRelease and then return onRollOut. The code and the movieClips are all on the same timeline, each on different layers.

I have a serious situation regarding the onRelease Funciton not working properly.I have a FVLplayback componant inside a flash project inside a movie clip. Inside that movie clip I have two layers, One for actionscript and and the other for the actual component which contains instance name of 'myPlayer' (without quotes)[code]That cameraRoll is the instance name of another movie clip I have located in the movie clip as shown in path above. Inside that movie I have rollover, Rollout effects. The actionscipt is in an invisible button right on top of the objects. The actionscript is:[code]The objective: the movieclip to carry out the rollover Rollout effect and to have the function that will start the video.The Problem: When I run the flash project, it does the effect but won't start the video. If i move things around, I can have the video start playing but then the button won't do the rollOver, RollOut effects.

I developed a portable video player thats similar to YouTube's video player where you pass a video's info and the video loads and plays. The player can
also be embedded on your own personal site using the embed tags. My problem is this, everything with playing / loading the video works fine. But I've got a link on the Flash thats hard coded to a url and links off using getUrl like so:
getUrl('http://www.site.com', '_self')
Now this works if the HTML and SWF are in the same location (ie both local, or both on the hosting server) but for some reason it doesn't work in the embed mode when the player swf is located on one server and the HTML that's loading the SWF is on another server. XML loads fine, videos load, images load, but the gerUrl does not work...doesn't go anywhere. Also, I've got my crossdomain xml file setup to accept all domains using the * option.

I have an _Xslide gallery that I need to make each photo link to an absolute URL. Works fine on IE but FireFox dosnt function at all. I can get it to work if I "_blank" but then it is applied to both browsers. The requirement is that the gallery function in the same window for all browsers.This swf is hosted in an "included" html file...where the swf does not live in the same directory...although I have tried that also but to no avail.
Ive also tried "_top", "_parent", "_self"

i have a movieclip on the main timeline, and inside that mc I have 1 button on first frame and 1 button of second frame...From the main timeline i run this script for frame 1 button...
publisering2.avpubliser_btn.onRelease = function(){
publisering2.gotoAndStop(2);
}
And this works fine.. however, i run the exact same script for the button on frame 2, ofcourse changing the path and gotoAndStop(1) instead... And this isnt working.. The button's over frame works so its activated...

I am working in CS4, but using as2 as the publish setting since the swf I need to load in was previously done in as2.I have an interface that I am loading a logo.swf into. This logo has animation that works properly both in test and in the browser. There is, however, a function in the logo.swf that is not working.

When I test with the IDE this is clickable within the interface, but when I view via the webpage it is not. AllowScriptAccess was set to sameDomain, but I have also tried that set to always.

Its suppose to create a Movie called container which has a text field in it then when the container movie clip is clicked on "Goodbye World" pops up in the trace window.So far the only thing this code does is display "Hello World" but no action is taken when it is clicked on.

im trying to make a button that will open a new mail form from whatever software the user may have, this goes on a Usb Stick, im using this code: on (release) [URL] It works on a Mac, but not on a pc with Outlook, it only opens the new mail, and fills the mail adress, no subject, text1 is a var, it wont load it either.

So iv been flash designing for about a year now, and i thought i was pretty good, however having never usd the geturl script before i am stumped whats going on. my AS is
Actionscript Code: on (release) { getURL("index.html", "_self");} which works fine when playing the movie in the flash preview (pressing ctrl+enter) but as soon as i publish the movie and view it embbeded in an HTML document it doesnt work. this should indicate its my browser settings? however iv tried disabling my pop-up blocker and still nothing.

Been banging my head against this forever. Running a SWF banner running AS2.0. If you view the banner's page with www before it, it works fine. If you visit the url WITHOUT the www the geturl script doesnt work at all.URL...I've tried changing the allow access setting from domain only to always and I changed the actionscript to be document relative instead of a full link and none of that has fixed the problem.
