ActionScript 1/2 :: Flash File Zooms But Buttons Don't Stay Where They Should
Jan 12, 2010
I've attached the example files I'm working with. I have a zooming component that zooms in my flash file by loading it with an .xml file, but the buttons don't stay over the buttons once it gets loaded into the component. The buttons move off into space.
I'm attempting to make a flash file that zooms into a vector image of a map. For example, having a whole map of the United States then clicking New Jersey and having the stage zoom to fit only New Jersey.
I started to achieve this with tweening (which didn't work, which is why I'm posting my code), but I feel like there has to be a better way. I've been looking at fl.transitions.
I am creating a navigation bar in Flash (which will then be used in Dreamweaver). When you mouse over each topic in menu (ex. Products), i want it play a movie clip (so it shoots out a sub-menu underneath). so far so good, but the only thing is, the sub-menu won't stay open in order for me to click on buttons in it. For each button, I assigned it the Behavior to go to a url. Also, I tested the buttons within the mc and they don't seem to direct me to url. do you think maybe it's because it's nested within the movie clip?? Is there an easier way to go about this?
I decided to post this question as a new thread since my enquiry is altered.
I got this sliding menu attached ("ActiveButtons.zip") that works according to plan. My problem is that I want the buttons to stay active(red) while the corresponding image is in place. Is this doable with a button?
I have a document which is basically a catalogue page, and I'm trying to make it so that when you click on an image, a movieclip of the image fading in larger appears, so it will look essentially like it's been zoomed in. To do this I put the movieclip inside a button. I have the button working fine, when you click it, it does exactly what it's supposed to, but I have no idea how to set it so that when the button is clicked it stays in the 'down' position, so you don't have to hold the mouse down. And also how to get back to the main screen afterwards, since the movie does take up the entire stage when played. Is it possible to do this?
I'm making a roll over flash file, it contains 3 roll over buttons on the left panel and each brings up a piece of unique text. What i'm having problems with is getting one of the buttons to stay up when the webpage loads but then changes if you choose another roll over button. Also i want the text for each button to stay up if i leave the button roll over area but it changes to the other if a different roll over button is hit.
If you have a look at the attached sliding menu there are four buttons. Each button brings an image in place. I want the button thats been clicked to remain red until I hit a different button, even when the cursor is not right in front.
when I load a movie in a container in the main swf, the buttons below the loaded movie stay interactive and conflict with the loaded movie. is there a way to get around this, deactivating or pausing the main movie so when you load a movie in the container, the main movie doesnt interfere with the loaded one?
I'm using a really simple bit of code on some fading in/out buttons which overlap each other slightly to ensure that the one with the cursor resting over it sits in front of the others:[code]problem being that this brings the button in front of everything across all layers. How do I change my swapdepths to make sure the layers above the buttons STAY above? - or do I need to add something to the other layers to give them a fixed 'depth'?
I have a website with a very simple code that gives all the buttons in the menu an animated rollover and rollout state. When the buttons are clicked, I have a movie clip with all the content which goes to a specific frame label depending on which button is clicked. Very simple, no problems there. But what I can't figure out how to do, is to add a variable so that when each button is clicked, it stays in the over state until another button is clicked (at which point I'd like it to go to the out state, while the new button would go to the over state.)I found several examples of codes that do this, but I can't figure out how to modify them so that when a button is clicked, it also goes to a specific frame label in the content movie clip, so that the content for each section can be displayed the same way is in the original version.[code]

I have some buttons that I have set up to drag and drop out of a pop up window in to the students timetable but when pop-up gets closed the buttons in the student timetable close with the pop-up but I would like the buttons that the child has chosen to put on the timetable to stay when the pop-up is closed! how i could actionscript them to stay when the pop-up is closed.
I'm using some classes that apply to a series of movieclip buttons I found. I'm using the classes to get the buttons to rollover and when clicked stay in the down state, when another is clicked the previous button goes back to up state. The rollover works fine however it doesn't stay in down state when clicked.
Here is the code I have so far, I'm also open for substitute classes that will do the same thing. ActionScript Code: class ButtonClass extends MovieClip { public var onPressDown:Function; public function ButtonClass() { this.gotoAndStop(1); [Code] .....
I have 5 movieClip buttons. I want the GALLERY button to stay on the stage at all times, "which it does" but i want when the user clicks on 1 of the other 4 buttons for the remaining 3 to disappear. Example... when the user clicks on the KIDS button, the COUPLES, PORTRAITS AND BELLIES buttons disappear, or when the user clicks on COUPLES, for the KIDS, PORTRAITS AND BELLIES buttons to disappear, and so on.
The problem with this version is that i want the clicked button to grow and stay larger than the other buttons. And when you click another button, that button becomes large and the last clicked button gets smaller. I've figured out how to do that, which you will see in a moment, but that is not my problem. Now, with this version I am actually using a proximity formula for the rollovers instead of actual rollOver handlers, and the buttons seem to respond well. Here is the modified version of the nav, using rollOver handlers and growing and shrinking the appropriate buttons:[URL]
As you can see here, this version seems to be working fine as long as you are rolling over the buttons fairly quickly. But, if you put your mouse right on the edge of the button, I think you'll see that the button goes into some sort of pulsing action, larger and smaller. It may stop after a moment or it may not. In an effort to find the problem, i removed each property (alpha, blur, bevel, etc) one at a time and basically figured out that mainly the blur filter is causing the button to act erratically. Without the blur filter, it works just fine.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem and if there is a solution to it (besides getting rid of the blur ). I could go back to using proximity for the rollovers, but i had a hard time keeping the buttons enlarged when you roll away from them. That's why i went back to using onRollOver instead. Sorry for the long and rambling post, but sometimes it's hard to explain certain things in just a few words..
I've embeded my swf file in .net application and after navigating to some pages in swf file and pressing f5 or refresh, its navigating to starting page of swf file and browsers path always shows the same path (main.aspx page) in which I am embedding the swf file. After navigating to some pages in swf file also it shows the sam path. So its refreshing the aspx page and giving the starting page. How can I control the browser to stay in current page of swf file.
My code allows you to be able to move your character the arrow keys, I put a loop in so that the character will move a lot more smoothly. but with this loop in my character just flys of the stage when i run the application.
Im trying to implement a mini browser in adobe air. The browser should work in the same ways as a mobile phone browser, i.e. fit the width of the website to a certain width(specified within the html component) and leave the height to be scrollable. I have managed to do a mini browser by using the scaleX,scaleY properties of the mx:HTML component however these make the websites look unreadable. I have also tried setting the css3 zoom property, and that works fine, but it only zooms out certain elements, therefore messing up the site layout. My question is: Is there a way to make a mini web browser which shows the full content of the website?
I'm trying to make a tween to a picture so that it zooms out and back in to the center and back. There appears an error of placement depending on z coordinate: the picture moves a little bit towards top-left corner of the stage. How can I make it move to the center of the stage?
I have an application that zooms in and out a movieclip using the matrixTransformer. When my code is in the timeline, everything works fine. However if I put the code in a class, it gives me these two errors:[code]So my guess is that the class is not importing matrix class for some reason however i have no idea how to fix it.
I want to do is create a mindmap that zooms in on a branch when you click on it... (using actionscript, not motion tween). At the same time the red square of the overview menu (view example-files below) should also align with that branch... once you click on the overview menu, the whole thing should zoom out to its "up-state"... View Mind Map "up-state" here. View Mind Map "zoom-in" here. View Overview Menu here.
I've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?
Just joined this forum and getting back into flash after a few years away, im currently using AS2 and was wandering if there was a way to create a zooming effect which zooms on the z axis in AS2the zoom starts way off in the distance and then zooms all the way off the screen.
I haven't been able to find a solution that fits my project. I am working on a 50 state map, where I need each state to stay down once clicked, but go up when any other state is clicked. [code]...
I have a flash template loaded on my server (Go Daddy) and when I make changes to the xml file they show up changed and then after about 10 minutes my xml file changes back to what it was before changed it, except the only changes it takes is if I add a new image and make that change in the xml its ok but if I try and change the order of the photos in the xml file or the text descriptors at the bottom of each photo it changes for a minute or so then reverts back to it old way. Here is an attachment of my xml file.
Recently today my Flash started not staying open. When I run it, it shows the normal screen with the timeline, properties, stage and all but then it closes down. I can still open my previous works except Flash just closes down.
Worked normally like 5 hours ago. Although something strange did happen when I was using it 5 hours ago. My library suddenly became empty of all tweens and symbols and stuff but my program still worked. Restarting Flash brought back all the symbols to the library. But I doubt that this could be the cause of my newer more serious problem.
I am creating a small flash project which has few scenes, in one of them I've exported FLV video(5 minutes). When I test this scene it plays the whole video, but when I run the project it is not showing the whole video(less then one second on this scene and goes to the next one). If I'll increase the length of the timeline to show the whole video then the project won't compile because of too many frames. Is there any way to play the whole exported video and then go to the next scene?
When I make changes in my xml file on the server they won't change on my site. The only changes that work is if I add new images and make those changes in the xml file it's ok but if I try to change the order of the images or add new text that is at the bottom of each image it won't change. I'm on a Mac with the latest Snow Leopard OS. I use Transmit for my ftp browser.
I'm fairly new to ActionScript and was wondering if anyone had an idea how this effect was done:[URL]..Click on a show date and the link zooms up and fills the screen giving show info. Then when you click the back button it shrinks back to where it was on the calendar.
