I'm attempting to make a flash file that zooms into a vector image of a map. For example, having a whole map of the United States then clicking New Jersey and having the stage zoom to fit only New Jersey.
I started to achieve this with tweening (which didn't work, which is why I'm posting my code), but I feel like there has to be a better way. I've been looking at fl.transitions.

I've attached the example files I'm working with. I have a zooming component that zooms in my flash file by loading it with an .xml file, but the buttons don't stay over the buttons once it gets loaded into the component. The buttons move off into space.

View 3 RepliesHow do I make a vector image smaller in file size than a jpg image? This sounds perhaps strange since vector in general is expected to be smaller in file size then pixel.
But take this image for example:
I can get this to about 8 kb if I were to use 'save for web' in photoshop (jpg / low compression). But then I thought I perhaps could get it even smaller by vectorizing it. But that resulted in an image of about 145 kb. Is vector not always better than pixel when it comes to file size?
Say I have an image. We'll call it "vectorman". It is a liner gardient in flash that has say "f5f5f5" as the top color and a gradient down to "ff9900". I then turn "vectorman" into a graphic, then into a movie. Now he sits on the main stage with the same colors all the time... poor vectorman. I would like the ability to control those 2 colors of vectorman via an XML file.
I know XML can control css and dynamic text fields, but how do I control the color of an graphic?
Specific to Flash Professional CS5. With its export options greatly reduced, there seems to be no way to make Flash graphics accessible by other programs. Is there any workaround?Currently, Flash can output two kinds of vector images: SWF and FXG, neither of which seem to be importable by most applications, including Fireworks and Illustrator (which write to FXG but not read from it), and Catalyst doesn't seem to write to anything other than what Builder uses. In other words, I know no way to export Flash files to vector formats (besides using Flash CS4).

All this will be designed by the user using the flash application.What I want to know is once the user has finished designing their text, can this 'creation' then be exported as preferably a PDF, or Jpg, etc. once the user submits the design?
View 3 RepliesI'm currently building a create-your-own t-shirt application using AS3. My client needs the resulting design as an Adobe Illustrator file for printing. Is there a way to dynamically create an AI file from your Flash app? The only solution I have been able to come up with is recreating the design in a special version of the app that only the client has access to (the app would automatically load and create what the customer designed). This version of the app uses PrintJob to create a printable version of the design that the client saves to a PDF and then opens in Illustrator. It works, but as you can see, it's a messy process and creates additional steps for the client.

View 2 RepliesI have made a webpage that scales to the size of the users screen. Now i'm having to following problem. There is a image gallery in this website that makes use of an XML file. Everytime when the website is scaled to a bigger size the image gets unsharp. This only happens to the external image that is displayed in the gallery since the flash elements are all vectors.I was already thinking about a higher DPI rate or using different images.

I create a new sprite in actionscript and want to assign apple.ai as the graphic for the sprite and on mouseover want to change the graphic to orange.ai. The problem I am having is that I would like to place a bitmap image (from a source file) instead of a vector square. Here is the snippet containing the drawing of the vector:

I have displayobject with vector and image data And I am trying to scale it in order to get big jpeg out of it with JPGEncoder.The thing is that once I am resample it using the Bitmap class (Matrix) and with draw method it's getting pixelated.How can I take a container with vector graphic and bitmap image and rescale it to bitmapdata without getting things pixled.This is the displayobject:The image in the center is high resolution image which I resize and all the other elements are vector graphic.Since the image is high resolution and all the other elements are vectors if I just call the scaleX property of the displayobkect it increase the contenier size and it all looks very good. But if I want to take a bitmap data out of it it's look terrible, The fonts getting pixelated and even the photo.I will like to know it there is a way to do it without getting things pixelated.

View 11 RepliesI am making an application, that will let you enter your name and then a car will drive each letter of your name in the sand. I have made a car and my artist made letters with vector graphics as a single line (.ai). But now I don't get how to make an algorithm that will drive through the lines of each letter. My first solution would be to make an editor, where you can create path, but I don't have that much time. Is there a chane to make path from vector graphics so that the care can drive through it?

As you can see when the bird flies across the screen it leaves part of it at the end, then clouds and the wolf do the same thing.This is all vector based artwork. It doesn't make sense becuase the simple images or complex images both leave a portion behind when rendering.The video plays perfectly in Flash. I tried importing it into iMovie and the same problem occurs.I don't even know what this is called so I can't seem to find any support on the issue
View 6 RepliesI'm trying to make straight lines grow out of a stationary dot, like veins. I've tried shape tween, but it only works for shapes, not lines. I'd just get a blank workspace when I hit play. I've also tried motion tween, but I can't get the line to grow continuously to a point.

My code allows you to be able to move your character the arrow keys, I put a loop in so that the character will move a lot more smoothly. but with this loop in my character just flys of the stage when i run the application.

Im trying to implement a mini browser in adobe air. The browser should work in the same ways as a mobile phone browser, i.e. fit the width of the website to a certain width(specified within the html component) and leave the height to be scrollable. I have managed to do a mini browser by using the scaleX,scaleY properties of the mx:HTML component however these make the websites look unreadable. I have also tried setting the css3 zoom property, and that works fine, but it only zooms out certain elements, therefore messing up the site layout. My question is: Is there a way to make a mini web browser which shows the full content of the website?

However if I put the code in a class, it gives me these two errors:[code]So my guess is that the class is not importing matrix class for some reason however i have no idea how to fix it.
View 1 RepliesI want to do is create a mindmap that zooms in on a branch when you click on it... (using actionscript, not motion tween). At the same time the red square of the overview menu (view example-files below) should also align with that branch... once you click on the overview menu, the whole thing should zoom out to its "up-state"...

If movie A is loaded and I click button B, I need movie A to do a small animation where it zooms out and once that is done movie B can zoom in.
