View 3 RepliesBasically I have a background image which is loaded while the rest of the flash file is loaded. So once the preloader has finaly appeared its already half way through which I dont want.
Is there a way I can specify a certain image to be loaded before everything else in the flash file and before the first frame to start?
I have the next code: Im trying to make a preloader for the image that gets loaded in a movieclip called picholder, Now the problem is that i get undefined back for the image so i cannot preload what is not there hehe and im not sure what im doing wrong In my other fla the image passes fine and the code is the same

How to preload this:
I've made buttons which loads external txt files into textBox (HTML render);
Those txt files contains text and pictures, like <img src="..."> (HTML tags);
Also, there are some links like <a href="asfunction:...>
I've made preloader and it displays bytes total for txt files only. Is it possible to make preloader which will calculate the size of a txt file, and the size of image from image tags inside that txt file?
I have 2 files. I loaded img.swf to the main file and try to make preloader in main.fla file.
But after compile i get error: 1084: Syntax error: expecting identifier before modulus.

I've been reading the tutorials about doing a preloader, but I haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Here it is: I would like to make a preloader in a specific .fla file, then load an external swf into it. How do I tell flash to get the bytesTotal not only for the preloader, but as well for the external file? Is there a special way to load the swf with a preloader?

View 1 RepliesI have a Flash file for an advanced preloader that fills up a circle with an image as the file loads. The problem is that the readout on screen is the percentage loaded. I am trying to get it to read kilobytes loaded over the total number of kilobytes, with the image synchronized with the amount loaded. I can actually send you the .fla file via e-mail so that you can see what I have.

I'm trying to make a preloader for a little flash project that involves re-assembling a load of rectangles to make up a pattern.Idea is that instead of the usual load bar i wanted to make use of this pattern that is relevant to the project and have it rebuild it self with these rectangles flying in from the side. So far I have got the tweening sorted using the tween class and staggered the 42 (yes took a little while, probably an easier way so let me know on that also) rectangles using 'setTimeout' so it releases each 100milliseconds after the one one before it. This probably the wrong way to do it but i wanted to check how it looked and this was the one way i knew how to do it.
I want to make it so that these rectangles fly in a complete the pattern once the loading has finished, but on a fast connection I don't want it to rush the animation but for a slow connection I obviously want it to adjust the release time and maybe even the travel speed to compensate.
I had an idea of maybe working out the percentage loaded divided by 42 and then run an if statement to see if that percentage for that segment had been reached before 100millseconds had passed, if 100 had passed then release the rectangle, if not then hold the rectangle until 100 m/s had passed. Not sure if that is the best way to do but that's why I'm looking for some suggestions from more experienced developers.

what I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.

the preloader works, but instead of going to frame 2 of that swf file, it goes to frame 2 of the overall swf that holds the navigation. Does anyone know how to get around this so that it goes to frame 2 in the same swf file as the preloader?
I am working on an Image manipulation application which will be developed using Flash/ C#.Net. Is this possible to save the image manipulations (not the image) saved from Adobe Lightroom for a specific image & then merge these change sets with an image to make a new image using C#.Net?
Also, the application for image manipulation will be developed in the Flash/ Action Script. Please share some links as to how we can save the image manipulations for an image (not the image) so that it can be merged with an image later on.
i am in the midst of working on a game, and i need a preloader .i have one that works fine, it's a pic and some text with a load bar and a % value shown. but i don't want a damn bar, there evil!!! so i want to fill-in the white space with light green, is there an easy way to get this done?

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to find out how to make a simple image gallery which changes image upon a mouse click on a button, when a button is pressed I want the image to slide in from the left into the viewable area and then when another image is selected I want the previous image that was viewed to remain in the screen and then the new image slide across over the top to replace the image.
I can get the images to slide across from the left upon a mouse click however I can't change the layer order so if image 6 is viewed and then I click to see image 1, the image will slide into place however it will be below image 6 so therefore not viewable.
I don't have an example of what I'm after but I hope my explanation was good enough, I've seen this been done in javascript but I have to use flash and am unable to replicate the effect I'm after

Is there a way to make the transparent area from an png image not to register when I add with a mouse event to that image? What is happening is the rectangle around the symbol is effected by the mouse event.

View 3 RepliesI am using location.loadMovie("image 1.jpg") to load images into my site, seeing how these images are not within my swf. but externally stored they load when I goto the location in the timeline, not in the beginning of my swf file with the other content (after my preloader runs) is there a way to have a preloader show up ( I want to use load % and movie clip for preloader) and tell you how much is loaded so someone knows there is an image there that is being loaded and not just a blank screen?

So I'm trying to create a preloader that uses an image as the loading bar. I have long image, somewhere around 6x1, and I would like it to load from left to right. I previously used a tutorial for create a general loading bar which used the scaleX to load. However, that won't work well for the image, as it starts squashed and only looks fine at 100%. [URL]
