ActionScript 1/2 :: Make A Button Load A Sprite From Library?

I am trying to create a newspaper that consists of four pages. Each page i have created and are sitting in the library as sprites. Each page has buttons that need linking so that when pressed it loads the next page or page that i want. This is the part i am confused with =/ how do i make the buttons on each page load the next page (sprite) from the library? Basically i want to no how to make a button load a sprite from the library when clicked. Does anyone no the script for this?

I am trying to make a sprite button with graphics and can't make it work. I have successfully added text fields so I know the path is correct. I suspected my code was correct and confirmed it should be, after reading several tutorials showing the process for creating sprite buttons with graphics. Anyway, I imported nearly every class on Earth, but certainly everything which needs to be. Stage is gray and 800x600.The graphics code by itself with appear, but not when linked to the sprite. Also, the sprite won't appear no matter what. Another interesting piece of the puzzle: nothing will trace, not even objects such as textfields which actually appear and function on the stage when I text the code.

first i have 2 sprite.. it`s mcproduct sprite and mcproductpane sprite .

1. How to make a button that when pressed, creates a movie clip from the library? So let's say there's a movie clip called "Guy". When I press the button, it creates "Guy" at a certain position.
2. I have a shooterish game, and I want different enemies to affect the healthbar differently. So what I have for my healthbar is a 150 frame tween of a healthbar going down. On a basic enemy that deals 1 damage/frame, I have this:

Loading a Sprite or MovieClip from the library to the Stage is simple. You just export the symbol and do the following code:
var mySp:Sprite1 = new Sprite1();
addChild(mySp)
assuming the exported sprite is called "Sprite1" and the base class is flash.display.Sprite
But what if you have many sprites and want to encapsulate this into a function with the sprite name passed as a string? What would the code in the function look like? Somehow you have to cast the string as the name of the sprite class defined in your export but I'm not sure how. I've seen a sample using the "as" keyword but try searching "as" in the help you you don't get much help.

I would like to be able to make changes to a colour gradient of a sprite from my library, as opposed to one drawn dynamically. So the code I thought would look something like this:

I've been using essentially this code (plus a bit for say drawing a square) happily to gradient fill sprites that are dynamically drawn. I don't get any errors from this.
I have tried adding myLibrarySprite.graphics.clear() but that does not make a difference.

In Flash I am able to create a font asset and add it to the library:I want to convert this asset into some BitmapData that will contain all of the characters with the correct letter spacing/line height etc.
Is there an inbuilt way of doing this other than manually creating text fields, adding a character, using BitmapData.draw() and then adding the result to a sprite sheet?
If I need to do it manually like above, is there a way to retrieve all of the embedded characters? For example, in the above screenshot I'd expect only a-z, A-Z. Or will I need to note these manually as well?

I am starting off by creating a very very basic flash document, with about 10 frames in it, just to get myself used to controls etc. i have got my buttons working to go from one frame to the next, and i am now wondering how to make a button load a movie clip, the movie clip is actually just a circle i drew and converted, but i would like this to be invisible, and then to load, or "play" when a button called "1" is clicked

I have a movie clip on my stage and within that mc, I have a button mc.I click my button (on the stage as I'm working) and I wrote this actionscript:on(release){getURL("javascript:signUpClickVideo(); ");}The button functions fine to load other pagesexample:on(release){getURL("index.htm");}When I try to load Javascript, it doesn't respond.I've done a little trouble shooting with how the document loads in the JS.

I don't know, whenever I try to make a sprite animation and I click on Trace Bitmap, it shows a loading bar, I wait and wait, and when about more then half is done loading, and a little is left, the screen freezes, and I cant even click cancel to stop the loading bar.

I need to load three swf files in the main sprite (mSprite) top to bottom. All three swfs have some sort of animation, so when the first swf is loaded, it needs to finish playing the animation before the 2nd swf is loaded and the pattern follows. I am assuming, at the end of the animation, each swf need to dispatch a signal or such. All the animations are done via code not timeline.

I can move my man with aswd and shoot moving balls with space, but there is an issue with it. When I'm moving my man by holding down a key, and then press space to shoot off a ball, then movement halts and you have to up and down the key again, to make the man continue to move.Here is the code:

How do I make a clone of a Sprite or MovieClip at runtime? So that if I make changes to the copy, the original remains unchanged.
And you can turn any Sprite or MovieClick in a class? So that I can create instances of this class (using new) and thus create copies of the display objects.

I am following this page to create a custom preloader extending Sprite to load an animation SWF, but it is not working (the animation SWF is not displaying): [URL]. I know the Animation.swf file is okay, because if I load it into the main app it displays and runs. The preloader works if an image is loaded by the preloader instead of the animation SWF.

BTW, I typically have many more lines of ComboBox in the app to force the preloader to display, but limiting number of lines here.
