View 3 RepliesHow would be a class, for attaching a movieclip along a path, with rotation?Like:In a mall map (top view)How to make the movie clip 'foot steps', appear along a line (path) ?A line that should start at a point in the map (entry) and end at another (store).
View 1 RepliesHow could I do: To attach a movieclip (e.g. 'footsteps'), along a path (other movieclip).
That would be within a interval for attaching one movieclip at a time.
I would need rotation, i.e, the footsteps, should rotate according with the path direction.
Firstly, I want to be able to push the space bar on my keyboard during a swf, and for a movie clip to appear on the stage. This is what I have so far:
Code:
onClipEvent(enterFrame){
if(Key.isDown(Key.SPACE)){
_root.attachMovie("Explosion", "Explosion"+i, _root.getNextHighestDepth());
_root["Explosion"+i]._x = _x;
_root["Explosion"+i]._y = _y-20;
}}
but its not working....
Secondly, I want A movie clip to spawn in the middle of the stage, then randomly travel outwards to the edge of the stage, then dissapear. And this needs to happen over and over, with the same movie clip travelling to a different place each time. This is what I have so far :
Code:
onClipEvent(load){
timer = 0;
i = 0;
a = 0;
b = 0;
[Code] .....
basically i have my blank document (no movieclips on the stage). I ahve my library item which is a movieclip and i want to attach this directly to the stage NOT into another movieclip.

the problem I've encountered on the home pg flash is that two big buttons and a bike animation should display prior to the photos loading. However, in firefox on both mac and pc(but not everyone's) when you refresh the pg such that it draws from the browser's cache, the buttons and bike animation do not display. Oddly, the photos still load consitently and in time as if those animations did take place. "oddly" because, the code to load the photos is part of an event listener, listening for the completion of the bike animation. So the code executes properly, despite the movieclips not appearing on stage(these movieclips are in library to begin and in my documnt class I instatiate them as follows:
realtors_btn = new RealtorsButton();
buyers_btn = new BuyersButton();
bike = new Bike(X-150);

also, originally I had this same issue in IE, but after switching from swfObject 2.0 to adobe's ac_runactivecontent.js method, I elliminated the issue in IE.

I have gone into the libraries window and selected NewVideo... and named the symbol VideoContainer. I have also gone into the symbols properties and selected control with actionscript. My question is can I use a form of the attachMovie(); to place it on the stage? I dont see were I can select a linkage id name.
If this isnt possible, then is there a way to use actionscript to move a thats dragged onto the stage into another movie clip thats created using actionscript? For example:
createEmptyMovieClip("BannerContainer", 0);
VideoContainer.MoveInside(BannerContainer);
I have a movieClip on stage, inside is a dynamic textfield, and I have set mc.scaleY = 0;
Code:
mc.scaleY = 0;
mc.buttonMode = true;
mc.mouseChildren = false;
And suddenly everything above and below (on the whole stage) where the movieClip actually is receives mouse, I can see by the button mode. But it only happens with dynamic text, not static.
I have attached the example:
How can I get the X, Y, and rotation values, relative to the stage of a child of unknown number of parents?
What I am doing is: I have a 'stick' object, that creates a child 'stick', that creates a child 'stick', etc a random number of times.
The end stick then creates a leaf.
Each new stick rotates a little bit randomly.
As a result when my leaf falls off the final stick it flies off in a strange direction.
How can I get the leaf to fall down (eg y++ relative to stage)?
Alternatively I thought I could dispatch an event that has a leaf created at the stage level but then I really need to know what the X and Y co-ordinates of my final stick is realtive to the stage.
It is a simple matter to place your object in a random place on the stage and not have it hanging over the edge, like so:[code]But for some reason I am having great difficulty coming up with a solution to how the random placement might work once the object has been rotated. and the registration point is no longer in the global upper-left corner. This might be easy if the rotation was a fixed # but I am rotating randomly along the whole spectrum.

View 0 RepliesHi everyone. This should be a simple question. Using flash professional CS5
I'm manually setting up stuff on the stage (authortime). And i've placed an object at a specific rotation. I now want to place another object, with the exact same rotation.
The problem is, i cannot find any way to read the object's rotation, or to specifically set it (ie: by typing in a value, rather than by manipulating editor handles)
I'm looking in the properties window and there's readouts/settings for position, size, scale, a ton of 3D properties, color effect properties, display properties, and filters. But there's no field for rotation. why the hell not! Isn't that a ridiculously simple and stupid omission?
so far the best method i can find is using free transform, and adjusting it manually til it "looks right", which is a very un-exact way of doing things.
i create stage Mouse Rotation Y is complete and i want to put some easing on movieclip this is my code
Code:
import flash.events.Event;
addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onEnterFrame);
function onEnterFrame(event:Event):void
{

When I try to rotate a movie clip along the x-axis on the default stage size (I'm using a basic rectangle right now), the rotation appears just as I expect it to. It "rolls over" with the perspective even on both sides of the rectangle.
When I try to duplicate this in a movie with different dimensions (320x480) and apply the 3D Rotation Tool, the rectangle skews to the left for some reason. (See attached .fla files)
I've tried changing the registration points on the movie clips, I've tried making new files with the "Adjust 3D Perspective Angle to preserve current stage projection" box checked both on and off, and I've tried repositioning the actual Rotation Tool, but I can't figure out what's wrong. Could it have something to do with the stage resizing?!
I have a movieclip and when I do 3D rotation from Transform panel, It rotates perfect, center is in the middle of image, and when I apply mc.rotationY, rotation center is in left of the image, aren't 3D rotation from Transform panel and mc.rotationY from AS same? what's up?
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to do some augmented reality projects with flartoolkit . I can now put simple 3d objects on my marker and it works fine , but I wanna give my project some events that the user can interact with. I'm trying to trace the rotation of the marker. there's a container:DisplayObject3D which my application uses to add the 3d objects , I traced this :"trace(container.rotationZ)" but it's just returning 0 . I studied another AR application's source code and it was using the rotation of it's container object without problem .and I think I should mention that I'm using the exercise file of seb lee delisle papervision3d course from [URL]. anyone has any experience with flartoolkit? the main functions of my my code is as below:

Is it possible to have the child movieclip rotate separate of the rotation properties assigned to the parent? so ultimately giving the child element it's own axis?I've customized Lee Brimelows (gotoandlearn.com) 3D carousel to spin on the x axis to make it a vertical carousel. I've also rotated that by 45 degrees on the y axis to see all the items, and wrote a snippet of code to hide the left portion of the carousel. The entire carousel is contained within the 'container' movieclip, and inside of that are my carousel items (as seen below), with the larger item being the item in focus.
On rollover of the item in focus, I want to rotate it so it faces the viewer (as seen below),basically removing the 45 degree rotation applied to the container.The problem i'm running into is when you rotate the container (changing the rotationX of the container), the axis basically rotates with it, so when i rollover the next item 'in focus', the following happens..(in the example where it appears how it want it to, the carousel is at a rotationX of 0, so it works fine)
Program A has a cannon that aims to line up with where-ever the mouse is pointing, in 360 degrees, and fires when the mouse is is clicked. Program B has an eye instead of a cannon that should in theory do similar functions when the capslock key is toggled, but instead only has a 90 degree range of motion from the Right of the eye toward the bottom (quadrant 4 only). Where did the ther 270 degrees of rotation disappear to?
[Code]...
i.m trying to create a 3d rotation much like the widely used carousel only the rotation i desire consist of four upright(90 degrees) movieclips resting on a slanted, 30 degree plane which rotate onEnterFrame or following a tween on a oval like path - then pause for a given number of seconds at the four movieclips positions equal in distance on the plane
function around() {
this._x = Math.cos(this.angle) * radiusX + centerX;
this._y = Math.sin(this.angle) * radiusY + centerY;
var s = this._y /(centerY+radiusY);

Why isn't there the Z, rotation X and rotation Y fields in my motion editor panel?
View 1 RepliesI am watching the tutorial on the motion editor and when he opens the motion editor to edit the Rotation X and Rotation Y values I'm in trouble.My motion editor now only shows Rotation Z but, no Rotation X or Rotation Y. What am I doing wrong?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to do a simple "pseudo 3D" rotation of a movie clip. The clip would "flip" on to the screen. I have created the effect using PaperVision3D, however, the final SWF is about 64k and my project requires a smaller file size. I tried to create the flip effect manually by creating skewed versions of the clip and tweening between them, except this doesn't work because the shape is not tweaked along the vanishing point as it should be. It looks like perhaps I could accomplish what I want to do using the MatrixTransformer but I've not had much luck so far.

how to attach images to this menu using xml [URL]
View 1 RepliesIm trying to build a script that attaches and positions an instance of a movieclip for each node of an xml sheet. However, I can't seem to get it to loop properly. The script is simply attaching and positioning the movieclip according to the last node in the xml file. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?!Here is my script:
Code:
var myXML:XML = new XML();
myXML.ignoreWhite=true;

I am working on a game that involves a play head (called playHead) moving along the screen and when it encounters various movie clips it triggers a sound to be played. It is all going well except that the sound seems to want to play more than once, so there is a staggered wierd sound. Is is possible to make the sound only play once and also it needs to play until the the sound has finished. (the sounds are all very short).Here is the code:
onClipEvent(enterFrame){ if (this.hitTest(_root.playHead)){ _root.sound15.stop(); _root.sound15.attachSound("over"); _root.sound15.start(); } }
I have a loop that creates mc from a database
for (var i:Number = 0; i < t.length; i++) {
var portfolioItem:PortfolioItem = new PortfolioItem();
addChild(portfolioItem);
[Code].....
I try and assign t[i][0] which is the table id to the name attribute but I jsut get 'instance4' or instance 14. How can I give these dynamically create mc's a name or custom property?
Using: Adobe Flash CS3 Professional, Action Script 2I got a little flash project of my own to do. This is an example code of what I've got so far;
ActionScript Code:
// in the Library - movieclip with Linkage ID - clip
ref1 = this.attachMovie("Example", "Example1", 1, {_x:40,_y:10});
[code].....
I have these 2 seperate mc's, one is a scroller, and one is a drag bar,.. (which is a nice script that has easing and rotation"fake/real feel drag") trying to attach them together so that the scroller can be dragged with the bar. But when I do that the scroller buttons dont work? Does anyone know if there is a way to attach them together so the scroller can be dragged and still work? Will attach Zip with Fla File....
