I am making a sniping game in Flash CS3 (Actionscript 2.0).In the current level I'm making I want a stickman to walk to a dumpster, throw away some trash, and then walk back to his original destination. While he's walking though, I want to be able to click him and have him play the animation of him dying right on the spot. The problem I have is, he walks and throws away the trash just fine, but when I click him he doesn't fall where I killed him, he falls where the animation inside him ends.I'm going to give out all of the ActionScript I used and where I put each animation.Okay so starting on the Main Timeline is the stickman.I double-click to go inside him. When that is done it shows a short animation of him dying. The first frame has the ActionScript:

And the last frame has the ActionScipt:
stop();
_root.gotoAndStop(255);
(After he dies I want it to go to a "You Win!" page, this part works just fine.)Go inside him a second time and you get the animation of him walking to the dumpster, throwing away the trash,etc.No ActionScript here but his head is a button (obviously)so it is clickable.
So long story short: I want him to be able to move freely, but when you click him it plays the death animation right in the area I clicked him in, as apposed to the spot he dies in at the end of the animation inside him.
I'm new to the forums here and new to AS3 (I have some AS2 experience, and lots of general programming experience).nd I've made a few tweaks, including most significantly, fading out and killing particles after a certain amount of time. But I have a problem: I can't figure out why some of my particles live longer than they should.In more detail:In particles.as, for each dust particle that gets generated, the fadeOut function should get called after half a second, and when that tween is done, the killParticle function should get called. This seems to work for most particles but every now and then a few particles will stick around (i.e. the fadeOut function won't get called)Watch the animation: linkOh, and I'd love to know if there's anything I can do to increase performance as well. I have a swfloader object on to which i want to zoom into (with respect to a point).... this i achievedinternet.But now i notice that when i zoom into a point the scroller on the swf loader doesnt work anymore....Code i am using below..on how i could correct this problem???

I have a 9 frames image of a character.In other language generally i used to make character animation by looping the array consisting of different frames and drawing each frame when pressing key.What i want to do is when i press left or right key, i want to draw each frame that makes character movement and update x coordinates of frames, and it will appear as character is moving.
i was wondering if any of you out there could tell me how it is possible to make a movieclip of a character and when the character is dragged about the screen by the curser, how do you make the characters arms and legs swing about in a realistic fashion.
I would like my character to move as if he was drunk I am unsure how to do that I am using the keyboard for his movement. I also have a character that moves at random I would like the drunk moving character to be able to catch this character and play a scene from within the drunk characters movie clip but I want this character to try and escape the idea is the drunk character gets points for how long he is able to hang on to this character
i tried it all but cant solve it on my own. i have 10 different MC,s. they shall appear by hitting a key on the keyboard. all i want them to appear and play on a random place.
all then 10 MC,s are deticated to 10 different keys on the keyboard. (so by hitting the "A" on the keyboard shall place and play MC "A" at a random place..
I have a site with a simple SWF that shows a series of frames for a cartoon each time the 'next' button is clicked. At the last frame I want to place a space for an ad such as Google Adsense. Is there a way to insert the Adsense code inside the Flash SWF so that it only displays on a particular frame?
I'm wanting to make is a box that is tethered to a position so that when my characters hit it from any angle it will be pushed away before bouncing back into position.Currently I can push the box but when I try to make it bounce back it does basically whatever it wants.
I was going through the chapter 9 topic of animating 3d elements in Todd Perkins Flash CS4 professional essential training on lynda by opening the file and following along by clicking into the movie clip, but doing so caused me to go into symbol editing mode. When he does it on the video he goes straight into the movie where you can see the other elements on the stage. I right clicked on the movie clip and noticed that edit in place is greyed out. Why can't i get into the movieclip so i can edit the animation while seeing the other elements on the stage? I've researched everywhere and i'm confused how i can be going into symbol editing mode directly from the stage. It is late on a sunday night and i am now questioning my sanity.
Is this possible with Flash?? I want to place a SWF in the top right of the webpage, and when people click on a link from the main menu on the left of the browser, it plays the SWF. This page is written in php, so there is no refreshing of the webpage, just the content.Basically think of an elevator user clicks on menu item, elevator wheel spins, and javascript loads new content....so the elevator wheel has to play everytime a link is clicked.
I am struggling to embed a swf in a flash movie so that it appears beneath a mc menubar. The menu is in a mc on the main time line at the top layer. The swf is embeded into a mc using the following :

However whatever I do (even trying "swapChildren" ) the embeded swf always appears on top of the menu mc hiding it completely.

I know that the data provider will be never changed in this case, and want to suppress this warning in this case, but I don't want to completely disable it, -show-binding-options=false in all project is not an option.
I have the following code which creates a series of squares with pictures on them. I then want to scale up the squares on a roll over event. The squares are placed in the x and z coordinates so they look like they are placed on top of each other. When you roll over a square it's scaled up and when rolling out it scales down. The problem is that I want the scaled square to be on top of the rest but I don't seem to be able to figure it out
I've been working on my new flash site for a few weeks, along with learning AS3, tackling problems as I encounter them and I've learned a lot...but sometimes the simplest things I cannot figure out for the life of me.
All I am trying to do is have some flash banner SWF files I created play within the portfolio page of my site. I don't want them to open in a pop up or anything just play within the page when the link on my site is clicked. I figured it would act like a movie clip and I could just drop it onto the stage, but when I do that it doesn't look right, loops continuously, and is not interactive.

I have created an as3 loader with fixed text on the left then the loaded images in the middle and the buttons on the right. I then created another loader with several buttons to load the original loader. it works but the different elements from the original loader are out of place.
