I want to have a button that pauses the flash movie. When clicked, the flash movie stops and another animation plays.Specifically Im making a flash movie about the evolution of geometry for my math class. Animations are going to be playing, and when my teacher clicks the Info button, a screen pops down with the related information about the scene playing.

I have a movice clip of a container "traveling" down a conveyor belt. I duplicate this movie 30 times (to simulate 30 items moving down the line). The code I'm trying is below.My problem. When the 2 duplicate clip item is created - I want to pause the duplication, (stopping items on the conveyor belt) play a movie clip (next to second item to explain what has happened), then continue duplication, stop duplication again at eighth item, (do similar to #2) play another movie clip - then continue all duplication until I hit 30. At which point they all start falling off the conveyor belt.

Does flash pause its execution somehow if the browser tab in which its residing is inactive? developed a multiplayer game using cirrus and when I tried to play it by switching tabs, aking a move in each tab, there were some inconsistencies regarding the way the game executed as if the inactive tab pauses the flash execution and then resume once it was active.

I am going to have 2 flv videos on an HTML page and a footer link at the bottom that will pop up the terms and conditions with a video in that (silly yes but bare with me). Is there a way to stop all SWF videos once that link is opened so that video is the only one playing?

Can Tweener be stopped in between its tween in order to pause?
View 3 RepliesI recently made a flash file with a fps of 24 with a motion tweened oobject which moves from below and stops when it's already on the upper part. the only code i added is the stop(); on the last frame. When I Shift+Enter it, the motion tween works flawlessly. The problem is, when I Ctrl+Enter it, the motion tweened object suddenly pauses three times in the middle part.
All images included have "Allow Smoothing" checked.

All I want the animation to do is first MC slides in from the right, pauses, then slides off to the left. Then repeat for each MC. With the code below, both MC's seem to slide in from the right at the same time and that's it.

I'm looking to create a flash based popup window when a button is pressed within the flash movie. Not a javascript based html window or html browser window, but a window that is in the flash movie that is entirely flash based. I looked all over the internet and can't seem to find anything on this, and can't find anything on this board either. I am new to flash and actionscripting in general. I would also like to use the Tweener external class, or the flash tween class would work too.

And I pretty much registered an account on here just to ask this.I'm using ActionScript 2 and Flash CS4, and I'm trying to get my play button to play a movie clip. Originally it was in .wmv format, but I have tried importing it in different ways in different file formats to see if it works any better. It works perfectly when I demo it in Flash with the ctrl+enter thing and if I just open the thing in my browser, but when I upload it to my deviantART (to showcase video since they don't support video) it clicks the button and displays a white screen.I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong, as I've been leafing through a lot of tutorials and trying those out, and it works fine in Flash.

This works fine in Firefox but in IE it doesnt work, I then change the /v/ in the youtube link with /p.swf?video_id= and now I have the window open showing the small youtube thumbnail of my video but once a click play, nothing happens, I check it and is not loading anything.

My current plan is to load the SWF with SWFLoader and attaching listeners to the buttons in a onComplete event would be the proper way to set it up, however i cannot seem to find a way to access the buttons themselves and attach listeners to them. Of course i would give each button its own instance name.
I'm extremely new to flash, having just started using it this semester for a class. I'm putting together a fairly simple "portfolio slideshow" (it's a mock up for a website) for an assignment, but ran into some issues.
I have two sections on the "home page"; still images and time-based files. Each file is activated by a button (a thumbnail of the image). Ideally, when you click on the thumbnail, it brings up the image, or the movie. I got the buttons to work fine for navigating through the still images, but I can't get them to work for the movie files. I want to be able to click the button and have the movie file pop up. I have a feeling it has something to do with mistakes during importing the files, or just me not knowing the script.

I'm trying to implement a multiple file uploader and expose and API for javascript. Even though I think I can handle urlrequests, I'm having a hard time making a SimpleButton.I want the button to have the size of the movieclip/sprite that I create. I'm trying without luck to make a movieclip of 130px x 30px, and have a simple button that fills the entire area. What I try to do in actionscript:

I have no other actionscript in this whole .fla file except a stop();
I have a button, inside the button I have a movie clip at the OVER location.
That movie clip simply plays 10 frames, and at the last frame I set the action stop();
All I want it to do is stop these 10 frames from looping, while the scene keeps doing what it does. Instead, as soon as the 10th frame inside that movie clip plays, it stops the whole scene.
I want to clic a button and open a new window with a flash movie (with the exact dimensions of the SWF), without the browser options and centered, how to?
