I have no rights to upload an .html file, or edit one that the CMS makes.SO, I am forced to use their little deal to display my .swf files.Problem: URL...I made an eHike in as3 Flash CS4. It has two scenes, the first scene is the preload, second is splash content and ehike content. The problem is I cant get the preloader to display in IE. I have all actionscript content exported to the second frame, as talked about here: URL...and it works fine in firefox.I have tried many different ways to load the preloader.there is a simple text field for the percentage, and a simple 100 frame animation. preloader_mc stop();[code]The CMS lets you decide in the popup window if it is resizeable or not.This works in IE (stopping people from resizing), but not in firefox, people can resize it. Is there any way to disable the resize in AS3?Again, I understand that your supposed to export the .html file with these settings, but I have no permissions to upload or create new .html files.

Apr 8, 2011I've been testing a file from my server and I'm getting varying results using different browsers. IE8 is displaying the file as intended however Firefox and Chrome give me an annoying little glitch. The problem lies with the way my preloader reacts using the MovieClipLoader class.
I have a main file with subsections where swfs are loaded in to blank clips. I'm using a preloader to display their progress and the preloader displays an animation by percentage increment up to 100%. If the target clip is not yet loaded then the preloader functions as intended across all browsers. However, if I revisit an already visited section where the preloader should not display due to the file having been already loaded, I'm getting a brief flicker (around 1 frame) of the preloader in a random state of load progress. Again, this does not apply to IE8 - everything there seems to be in order.It's as though it's firing onLoadProgress for a brief instant instead of just going to onLoadComplete.
Flash :: Preloader Won't Display (Blank Until 100%)
Jun 24, 2011I have an FLA file with two frames. On the first frame I have nothing but a textfield and some code to do the preloading. After it is done preloading it does gotoAndStop(2)
On frame 1 I have:

In my publisher settings I have export to frame 2. My problem is that the preloader won't display until 100%.
P.S. For testing I put a large image file on the stage in frame 2 and the result is the same.
Flex :: Preloader - Display Application Instantly?
Aug 27, 2010I'm working on a little project in Flex that's an application to upload images to a server. Since it's a pretty lightweight application (~40 kb in release version), I would like it to display instantly when the html page is loaded. But somehow there's a delay of up to 1-2 seconds before it shows up. I think it is a delay actually between the load and the display of the application, and I believe it could be removed.
how to shorten/remove the delay. First, I tried to disable the preloader, but this did nothing. There's actually a delay between a preloader shuts and the application displays (it is around 500 ms - 1 sec). My next guess was to write a custom preloader class to display at least an image of the application (even though it wouldn't be clickable, but at least something).

May 5, 2010I have a preloader in my file.At the end of the preloader completion event, i am loading 12 swf files from outside using individual loader. Now problem is, i need to display loading percentage in text for preloader. But, the percentage shoud cover all swf loding also. it mean, from preloader, starts, it has to start from 1 and end of the 12th swf loader completetion,it should display 100%.

Feb 17, 2006Discovered yesterday that the preloader I've been working with (loads external SWFs into levels based on this tutorial) which works fine on a local preview and IE, is having some major issues in Firefox. I thought this was a little bizarre at first but have since discovered that it could be something to do with 4 bytes that IE ignores but Firefox has a problem with. I've been searching for a solution that I can use pretty much constantly since then, and I'm stumped. Here's a link if you want to see it in (in)action: link
In IE, everything is good. Page loads, preloader starts at the bottom of the progress bar and progress is acurate. In Firefox, page loads, external swfs DO preload but progress bar doesn't display. When swfs are 100% loaded, the full progress bar appears with my "click to enter" link. But people will definitely have left the page thinking nothing is happening by then.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Short Intro Animation To Display The Preloader?
May 27, 2010I have a preloader that works fine when I test i with flash. I publish it and then go to View and Simulate Download. Everything works fine.
But when I upload it to my server it works fine util I hit the reload button, all it does is do the short intro animation to display the preloader and just sits there.

ActionScript 3.0 :: CS5's Built In Preloader Vs. My Preloader?
Jul 16, 2010I'm wrapping up a small corporate website, but I left the preloader to do until the very end, so instead of changing any layout of my View, I just moved everything to frame 2, and put the preloader on frame 1. I'm using some of the code here: http:[url].... which seems pretty ace.
The problem I'm having though is that CS5's built in preloader is going and loading the whole swf, then it runs my preloader (on frame 1) which causes it to move strait to frame two instantly (I changed it so now it at least plays through the animation then moves on, but it's still not loading anything during that screen).that is causing flash to load the entire swf before even playing my preloader on frame 1. I don't remember having this problem in CS4.

Flash - Sorting Display Objects By Their Display List Depth
Aug 5, 2011I have a list containing display objects from throughout the application (insertion order). I want to process the list either top-down (parent, child) or bottom up (child, parent). The only requirement is that either a parent is processed before any child or vice versa a child before its parent. What is a good approach? This question is not about sorting a list. It's about retrieving the depth of a particular display object.
Example
Display list:
A (root)
B1
C1
C2
D1
B2
......
My list:
list = [E1, F4, A, B2, B1, C3, ..., N9, N8]
Bottom-up:
N9, N8, F4, E1, C3, B2, B1, A
Top-down:
A, B2, B1, C3, E1, F4, N9, N8
Does not matter if N9 before N8 or N8 before N9. Important is that any N is before M (first run) or any M before its children N* (second run).
