ActionScript 2.0 :: Change A MC's Frame Based On Variable?

Jan 14, 2012

I have a very weird idea, but i can't make it work.

Theres a Movie Clip, called "bar"

And there's a variable called "Points"

Whenever we get 2 points, the MC called "bar" is moves 1 frame.

To summarize: Whenever variable "points" increase by 2, "bar" MC's frame increase by 1.

ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClip To Go To Certain Frame Based On Variable

Jun 17, 2011

I am building a very long and detailed flash training program. I need to get a MovieClip to goto a certain frame based on the value of a variable that is defined on a keyPress.

Here is the code:
fscommand("trapallkeys", "true");
trace(nmhho);//show the value every time this frame loads
if (nmhho == 1){
Nav_Mode_Hdng_Hold_Override.gotoAndPlay(2);
}else if (nmhho == 0){
Nav_Mode_Hdng_Hold_Override.gotoAndPlay(1);
[Code] .....

The MovieClip in question is "Nav_Mode_Hdng_Hold_Override" "nmhho" is a number variable that is already defined and set to 0 initially, on keyPress of 9 it changes to 1, and when u press it again it changes back to 0, the problem is that when the page loads the "IF" statement at the beginning does not tell the movieclip to go to the proper frame.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Change String Variable To A MovieClip Variable?

Oct 10, 2008

I have been banging my head against a brick wall regarding the following problem which must be very simple to fix, just can't see the answer.I have a class assigned to a movieclip called canvas. The class is called drawClass. I have called the instance of canvas on the stage 'drawingCanvas'.When I trace "drawingCanvas" I get object drawClass] which is fine. Tracing drawingCanvas.name gets me the instance name 'drawingCanvas'.This is a String variable.Basically what I am trying to do is pass the MovieClip name to another class. In my example the class 'toolBar', which can then interact with the MovieClip.

The problem is passing 'drawingCanvas.name' results in a String, so I get an error saying :TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "canvasArea" to flash.display.MovieClip.I can't for love or money find a way to convert a String variable to a MovieClip variable! I have the name of the MovieClip, I just need to tell the toolbar class. But I can't find a way of doing this as the instance on stage is an object of drawingClass, not a MovieClip (unless MovieClips with attached classes are not treated as standard MovieClips?).

Movie Clip Reverts To Default Frame After Frame Change?

Jun 7, 2010

I am making a quiz/game, and it works like this, two teams that have to take over the united states, by answering history questions, so right now I have it were when you click on a state, it takes you to a question (on a different frame in the main timeline), then I have a problem, if you get the question right it takes you to the "board" of the United States (that works), but when you are back the color of the state should change its color to red (on frame of the clip) if south got it and blue (another frame of the clip) if north got itBut instead i changes back to grey (default color, all start grey to begin with). I don't and can't seem to figure this out

Flex :: DataGrid Change Value Based On Another Value?

<mx:DataGrid x="0" y="45" width="272" height="525" dataProvider="{dp}" variableRowHeight="true" editable="true" id="equipmentDG" verticalAlign="middle">
<mx:columns>
<mx:DataGridColumn headerText="" headerStyleName="gridheader" width="20" dataField="included" editorDataField="selected" rendererIsEditor="true">

The value updates in the data (I can see it when I close and open the dialog this is in), but it doesn't update instantly in the data grid. How can I make the value visibly change as soon as the checkbox is clicked?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Change Mc Based On Day Of The Week?

Sep 9, 2011

I'm working on a lil' animated weekly meal plan that'll be played in my school's cafeteria. It gets the meal info from an external text file that the staff update every weekend for the coming week.Preface: I know my way around Flash relatively well, but don't have any formal training or much experience with Action Script.

What I would like to do is to automatically highlight the meals for the current day via Action Script. It drives me crazy that I know this is possible, most likely not overly complex, and that I've got all the basic elements assembled already.The problem is that I don't know the Syntax that would allow me to put it all together and get it working.I can create an array for the days of the week and trace the result, like so:

ActionScript Code:
var days:Array = ["0", "1", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6"];
var my_date:Date = new Date();
trace(days[my_date.day]);

Now I'd like to take the result, number representing the day of the week, and see if that is the current day. If so, I'd like this result to cause the alpha of my background MC to change (I'm doing this via TweenMax):

ActionScript Code:
if day == 0 //Day is Sunday
TweenMax.to(bg0, 2, {alpha:0.9});  // change the alpha of "bg0" to 0.9
else

[code]....

And lastly, since the computer running the swf is being turned off every night and back on every morning I don't really need this run at a certain interval (i.e. every 24 hours), correct?

ActionScript 3.0 :: How To Call Different Class Based On Value Of Variable

Sep 29, 2009

I'm brand new to actionscript and I've decided to try and make an overhead tile scrolling game. It's been going good so far, but here is my problem:
I have the level data stored in an array, where the number represents the corresponding tile.
I have movie clips in my library called "tile_1", "tile_2", "tile_3" etc.
Anyway, what I was thinking of doing was this:
var newTileContents:("tile_"+lvlArray[i]) = new ("tile_"+lvlArray[i])();
newTile.addChild(newTileContents);
Where, if the value in the lvlArray at [i] is 2, then it will create an instance of tile_2 etc.
But I am not sure how to to type the "tile_"+lvlArray[i] bit properly.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Swap Image Based On Variable?

Apr 13, 2011

What I'm looking to do is have an image swapped with another depending on the value of a variable, but I'd also like it to choose the image automatically.[code]...

what i want it to do is when a function is called if the var == 01 it will automatically swap that image with pic_01, if the var == 02 it will swap it with pic_02. However is there a way of doing this without having to actually write an if statement for each of the pics as there is going to be around 700 of them.

CS3 Dynamic Text - Change Colors Based On Data

Aug 25, 2009

I'm building a project for a gaming website and i have an interesting dilemma. How do i make the font color change based on the data loaded from the external .txt file.

Example:

In text files i could have... yes yes yes no no maybe yes no. If the text says yes i would like for the font to change to green, if no to red, or maybe to orange/yellowish.

So basically if i went in and changed the No to a Yes on a .txt file, the next time i viewed that flash section the yes text would be in green instead of the default set by the flash core itself.

I hope i am making sense. I don't even know how to go about starting and i stared at the actionscript list for awhile to no avail.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Change Order System To Cart Based

Dec 3, 2009

I currently have a system that takes the users order and then sends the data to a php file where the details are then emailed to the shop admin. I accomplish this by using...

ActionScript Code:
//Retreive and pass the information to a PHP page
var variables:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
variables.vItemCode=menu4dynamictext.text;
variables.vBaseColor=basecolorpickertext.text;
var request:URLRequest=new URLRequest("sendmail.php");
[Code] .....

However I need to change this system so that rather than each order being sent automatically, the details are stored in an array so that a cart system can be produced somehow! It doesn't need to be overly secure, the system simply needs to email colour details etc to the admin.
