ActionScript 2.0 :: Choppy Timeline Tween On Some Browsers

Apr 12, 2011

I'm using Flash 8 with AS 2.0 to animate the following: [URL] The page movement is done with tweens on the timeline. It works perfectly (is smooth) on my Mac and, for the most part, on my PC. But I'm getting feedback there is a "hitch" or some choppiness happening on other browsers. When the page slides from right to left it pauses just before the end then continues on. The glitch is inconsistent which makes me wonder if it could be a connection speed issue or a function of how the user is clicking the buttons.

It is a heavy file -- once the issue is resolved I plan to load the images only when that link is clicked (I hate preloaders so would rather avoid). But could the heaviness be contributing to the chop?

Movie Clip Within Main Timeline Runs Slow/choppy First Time Around, But Not Second Time?

Dec 11, 2009

I have a fairly complex animation movie clip within my main timeline in a Flash file.  When you click a button, it plays the movie clip, then goes back out to the main timeline.  The first time the movie clip runs, it plays choppy and slow, but if I play it two or more times, it plays correctly (smoothly).  Is there some actionscript I need to preload the movie clip, or some other solution to the first-run slowness?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Audio File Works On Mac Browsers But Not Windows Browsers

Jan 13, 2011

I inherited a flash website about a year ago.. not sure what version it was originally done in. I've made changes on the model last year using CS3 Flash Action script 2, but don't remember the flash version when published. The audio in question is the music that plays in the background when you get on the website:

[URL]

When I changed the image of the model this last week using CS4, I published it as Flash8 actionscript 2... now, the music plays on Mac Safari and Mac Firefox, but not on the Windows versions of IE or Firefox..

this is the code called sound control

onClipEvent(load)
{
_root.soundstatus="on";
_root.mySound = new Sound(_level0);

[Code]....

then there's the stop() that's used when the music is toggled off..

I've tried updating the flash player in Windows to the latest release, and I even tried republishing as flash 10, just not sure where to troubleshoot this..

ActionScript 3.0 :: Playing A Timeline Tween Instead Of The MC?

Jun 27, 2009

I've come to the end of my rope at this point in my AS learning, and was seeking some opinions on how to achieve this.

I am attempting to play a motion tween animation which I have applied to a movieclip that exists in the main timeline.

Coding it like this does not result in errors, but instead of playing the motion tween that I have set up, each MC plays the MC animation instead of the tween animation in the main timeline.

Quote:

stop();
//Banana Roll-over Animation\

How To Access Classic Tween On Timeline From AS

Use Motion Tween To Create A Moving Timeline?

Oct 6, 2010

I'm just learning the software and haven't been able to figure this out.  I'm trying to create an historic timeline for our company and am using 20 jpg images, which I placed on separate layers and then converted each jpg to a symbol and motion tweened to go across the screen.  The problem is that there is a gap between the frames when they play as a movie and I don't know how to get rid of that so that they flow continuously across the screen from left to right seamlessly.

IDE :: ScrollRect Causes Motion Tween On Timeline To Stop?

Jul 1, 2009

I'm having trouble using a scrollRect on an object instance on the timeline that has a motion tween. As soon as I apply the scrollRect to it, the object just stops! I've attached a simple fla that shows what I'm talking about.

Simply comment out this line in the first frame's actions to see the oval move across:

Code:
oval1.scrollRect = window;

The actual application I'm making is using a scrollRect on a custom list control, where each item in the list is a symbol in the library. It works great, except if I try to move my list around using a motion tween (the list still works, but the list doesn't move in the motion tween). As soon as I remove the code to apply the scrollRect, it works but the list fills the screen!

ActionScript 3.0 :: Timeline Navigation - Box In / Out Effect And Playing Tween

Jan 24, 2009

I will just try my best to explain my document, I have a movie with 4 different content pages on the same layer I have buttons to take you to each page when clicked. Once clicked the content holder has a scale tween that scales to 0 then to full size to create like a box in and out effect with the text content appearing using Alpha once the content box is full size. The box out effect happens after the content has been visible and I would like it to be the in-between effect between the different content pages. So I guess I am asking how to continue playing the rest of the tween then goto and play the next relevant page after the button click at the moment my code is navigating but missing the last part of the tween as I am not sure on how to get it to play to the end of the tween then carry on from that frame to the beginning of the next content page.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Dynamic Positioning Kills Timeline Tween?

Jan 20, 2009

I'm working on a banner ad project where we're trying to send dynamic variables from one of our servers to position a movieclip that simply slides in from offstage and then does a little bounce. My AS2 frame script at the beginning of the tween sets the _x and _y properties of the clip successfully. But that seems to destroy all the movement of the tween. In other words, when I set those two positioning properties on the clip, it just sits there and no longer slides in or bounces. I've tried a lot of different values, but they all seem to kill the movement of the tween.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Blue Transparent Image With Timeline Motion Tween

Jun 15, 2009

If you take a look at [URL] you see I created a timeline motion tween on the blue transparent image. Now I want to load this image via actionscript and follow the exact guidelines I gave there.

This is what I use in AS3:
Code:
loader = new Loader();
loader.load(new URLRequest(lastImage));
thisMovie.imageLoader.addChild(loader);

It does load the image, however it does not place it in the imageLoader I created in Flash (yes I gave it an instance name). This is the error I get (i.e. it doesn't access the imageLoader). It does when I put it in the first frame on the timeline, but then it doesn't follow the guidelines I gave in the timeline.
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Scroll All Objects Across The Screen Without Making A Tween On The Main Timeline?

Jan 4, 2004

I have a movieClip, with other movieClips inside of it, objects that I want when hit to lose points. But when I have the movieClips inside that one, it just has a giant "boundry box". I want the points to go down when you hitting only one of those items,instead it just goes does throughout the entire thing.

There is no way for me to scroll all those objects across the screen without either making a tween on the main timeline for each object (almost 20), or somehow making a giant movieClip scroll all of them all the way across, bypassing the first boundry box, and acknowledging the movieClips.

Choppy Streaming Video FMS 3.5

Jul 23, 2009

I'm new to the streaming video world but I do have FMS 3.5 up and running and have encoded some wmv and mp4 videos to flv using adobe encoder CS4.  I followed the tutorials and have created the swf files in flash CS4 and the videos are streaming as expected.

The primary issue I am having is the videos tend to be choppy at times.  They pause, run slowly, audio pops and just overall; glitchy.  Typically at the beginning but some times throughout. The test files at the FMS admin page stream fine without issue from the same server.  We have tested the site/streams from multiple providers all at cable modem speed or above.

We are running FMS 3.5 developer version and wish to purchase the full version but I really need to fix this issue to prove it's value.As a bit of background we are running/testing FMS 3.5 from a server with the following specs:Redhat EL 4.6-32 SuperMicro X7DBU Intel Xeon QuadCore DualProc Sata [2Proc] Intel Xeon-Harpertown 5420-Quadcore [2.5GHz] OEM 4GB ECC FB-DIMM DDR2 Mainboard Onboard SATAII Controller  (2) Western Digital WD Caviar RE 16 WD2500YS  Uplink speed 10 (Mbps) Bandwidth allotment 2000 GB(Virtual Private Rack)

Unable To See The "alpha" Properties When I Select The Symbol Or The Tween In The Timeline?

Mar 19, 2010

I was using CS3 and Flash 8 (macromedia).I am working on a file that was created in maybe flash cs3 or perhaps flash 8, from another developer.It shows tweens on the time line.The developer created fade tweens, with names like "Transform 1" etc.The fades are on symbols (the developer converted  jpegs to a symbols)from 100 percent to 0 percent alpha.I can see the fade go from 100 to 0, but I am unable to see the "alpha" properties when I select the symbol or the tween in the timeline.The tween is displayed in the timeline as a line with an arrowhead at the keyframe when the visibility goes to zero.I do not seem to be able to see the properties for the tween, i.e. 100 in keyframe 1, to 0 in keyframe 20.No information shows in the CS4 "Motion Editor".

I created a tween in a layer that I added, and it seems that CS4 no longer show the lines with arrowheads, but uses a different color for the tween range.And I get the motion properties in the "Motion Editor".I am sure it is pilot error here.Since I just installed CS4, etc.How can I view tween properties, like alpha on a symbol created in an earlier version of Flash?

ActionScript 3.0 :: File So Choppy When It Tweens

Jun 23, 2009

I have created a flash map that uses this script to move the the world map movie clip around when buttons are clicked.

I am using the tween class to adjust the x and y postion as well as the xscale and yscale.

It works fine when I view the swf but is really choppy when I post the file onto my server for testing. The file is pretty small, about 230 kb, but I guess that has nothing to do with it tweening so choppy. Can anyone lead me in the right direction of why it is so choppy when I upload the file to my server and is there any adjustments I can mke to stop it.[url]...

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preload .f4v FLVPlayBack Choppy?

Dec 18, 2009

I'm new here. My first post Just for info , I use Flex to build Action script project.

So I preload some f4v movie, <1,50 mo , 720*405, between 4 and 10 s duration.

No problem for the preload. But when 'bytesloaded=bytestotal' ,  I play the file, it looks like choppy. The video is not smooth at all.

I try with flash player beta 10.1 , it's better but still choppy. Anyone get this problem ?  I try to play with the buffertime method of F4vPlayBack , it changes nothing.
