ActionScript 2.0 :: Dueling Functions Cancelling Each Other Out?

Aug 8, 2006

I am having difficulty with the following functions. What I want to do is just have one movie clip (we will call it plane_mc) go up at an angle, and have another movie clip (oh, lets just call it fallingCan_mc for kicks) that will go down at a particular angle. I got the plane to work fine with the following AS:

Code:
/* Plane motion script */
this.onEnterFrame = function () {

Aug 28, 2009

I'm working on a video player with full screen capabilities. I have the control bar set to tween in and out of the video screen with a mouse event. I'm also trying to position the control bar at the bottom of the screen when it's in full screen mode. My problem is that the control bar doesn't reposition when in full screen because of the tween functions. I'm thinking that whatever solution comes up that I might go in the if statement of the full screen code.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dueling With Loader Loading The Same Thing Twice

Jul 19, 2011

I have a background symbol that does the loading external jpg job, and a engine as3 that loops 2 backgrounds continuously on the screen. However, only one background can load file although they "new" from the same symbol. To test this urr... phenomenon, I exchange the order of "new" code of 2 backgrounds, then whichever on top will perfectly load the jpg file and the other will remain blank. has anyone faced this problem before? or knowing how to solve it? this external loading is really painful to me from the beginning.

[Code]...

so as you can see, I put the B2 = new fBG() prior to B1=new fBG(), then I can see B2 but not B1 and if I exchange the order, I can see B1 but not B2. That's the problem!

Actionscript 3.0 :: MouseOver Event Cancelling Due To Child MovieClips?

Aug 13, 2010

Which can be seen here...[URL]

What seems to happen is as soon as the cursor goes over any of the MovieClips that are inside of the expandable button the MouseOver event is getting cancelled. and the MouseOut event gets Called (I presume that it no longer thinks it is over the clip due to the call getting blocked by the content clips). This can be seen when the mouse goes over the text (which is a MovieClip inside the expanding button). I'm pretty sure this is to do with event propagation, and is probably quite straight forward to sort, but I'm just not sure where? here's my code...

Code: Select allimport com.greensock.*;
import com.greensock.easing.*;
section1.NavBar1.scaleY = 1;
section1.WhiteBar.scaleY = 0;

Actionscript 3 :: Cancelling MouseEvent.CLICK After MouseEvent.MOUSE-DOWN

Aug 11, 2011

I have a MOUSE_DOWN handler that creates a CLICK event listener on a child object. Naturally, as soon as you release the mouse button, if you happen to be over the child object, the CLICK event fires.I was disappointed to discover that event.stopImmediatePropagation doesn't interrupt the CLICK event from registering the MOUSE_DOWN as part of its detection cycle. It makes sense that it doesn't but still... disappointing.A MouseEvent.CLICK consists of detecting a MOUSE_DOWN on the object and then if it's followed by a MOUSE_UP without leaving the object, he event fires. I had hoped that by cancelling the MOUSE_DOWN event, it would clear that out of the CLICK buffer, but no such potatoes, alas.This could all be handled with a flag and a couple more MOUSE_UP and MOUSE_DOWN handlers, but dang, smacks of effort

ActionScript 3.0 :: Import Vs Include - Basic Functions To Be In BasicFunctions.as And The Make A Library For More Specific Functions

Jun 6, 2010

I've got a project thats getting a bit big, so Im taking the actionscript out into separate as files. I want all the basic functions to be in BasicFunctions.as and the make a library for more specific functions. I find that a lot of people use the import statement but I cant get that to work with a simple Hello World trace, yet the include statement works fine (see attached). I understand that import/include work differently, but which is the better method? If import, then is that heavier to work with. Any rate, what's the best way to organise code when it gets to the 1000+ lines?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Mimicing The Until Functions - Load Of Global Functions In One File?

Nov 4, 2009

I'm trying to find a way to have global functions in my as project, similar to how flash does with stuff like the util functions (describeType()...), where you can just call the function wherever you need it. For example:

[Code]...

So when I call Test(), it prints out "hello world" fine. My problem comes in that I can't change the name of the Test function, and I can't add any other functions without compiler errors. Is it possible to have a load of global functions in one file, or do I have to split them up into separate files like in the example? Also, I know that I can make a Global class and call static functions like Code: Global.doSomething() but I'd like to know if there's a way to do it as flash does it (describeType(), getDefinitionByName(), etc), or rather, how does flash do it?

If not , is there a way to allow this functions to compile ? I dont like to turn off strict mode

this return compile-time error , cause there is no such function , i have to write it in braces :

ActionScript 3.0 :: Use XML In Other Functions?

Nov 19, 2009

I'm loading XML into a file, and then I want to replace the onscreen text with different snippits of text from the XML based upon button clicks.

However, I keep getting an undefined property error every time I try to use the xml in another function other than the load function, because the variable doesn't exist until the load function runs. I get that part.

First, I couldn't pass it to the function that parses the XML and puts the content on the screen (adds the text to the text box and inserts line breaks). So, I added an XML property, so that works finally. However, now I'm passing to a button event. I can't require an XML property there. To get around that, I've tried to encapsualte the XML into every variable type I can think of, and it doesn't work, because it's coersion. It's like a regressive issue now. So I'm screwed? I hope not![code]...

ActionScript 1/2 :: Moving MCs With Functions?

Jul 11, 2009

I've got a movieclip connected to a check box, it's x position is supposed to be +100 if unchecked, and -100 x if checked.I have several movieclips with several check boxes along the same lines, and wrote up two functions.

function Sh(card){navigation.tableu8.card._x = -63;}
function Hd(card, numx, numy){navigation.tableu8.card._x = -numx;navigation.tableu8.card._y = numy;}

These didn't work so I wrote this one to test if there was something wrong with using a function to move items, and it worked fine:

function ShA(){ navigation.tableu8.cA._x = -63; }

What can I do to avoid making 26 functions, ShA through ShZ ? Are there brackets or something I'm missing, or do I need to type "String" or "Number" somewhere?
